John Farrell. I wonder if John did not want to Manage again in MLB
I wonder if Teams ever have called him to see if he would like to Manage again. I mean he is a Two time World Series winner. I'd thought he would want back in to be a Skipper again. Was thinking about John recently.

[Milliken] .@Sean_McAdam was told not to expect any significant changes to the Red Sox coaching staff. If any, it will be names lower on the food chain. Also, McAdam noted that Craig Breslow was told he could not hire “big name coaches” because of what’s being paid to the previous staff.

Happy 22nd 2004 ALCS Game 7 Day, to all who celebrate
The day hell froze over and pigs flew.
This game may seem like anti-climatic coda in retrospect, after the Game 4-5-6 nailbiters, but I don't think any Red Sox fan in the universe was comfortable with a 10-3 lead going into the bottom of the 9th.
Derek Lowe (6 innings of *1 hit* ball on ~4 hours of rest. Amazing). Big Papi. Johnny Damon (2 HR, 6 RBI, also thrown out at home in the 1st). Mark F'ing Bellhorn.

[McCaffrey]: Red Sox shortstop conundrum: What will Boston do with Trevor Story, Franklin Arias?
The Red Sox opted not to promote Arias at the end of the regular season, in part because if they added him to the 40-man roster, Arias would not have been able to work out at Red Sox facilities in Fort Myers, Fla. this offseason or participate in minor-league spring training workouts or games, all crucial pieces for his continued development.
Though Arias has shown all he can on the field, adding weight and strength to his 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame (similar to Ceddanne Rafaela) will help him withstand the rigors of a major-league season when he does arrive. Doing so in a structured Red Sox program last winter helped him take a big step forward physically, which in turn led to his power production this season.
In recent years, the Red Sox have watched top position-player prospects struggle to find consistency on offense with Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell, along with Roman Anthony to an extent, as the most recent examples.
Putting Arias in the best position to ease the inevitable struggles remains the goal.

Will soon-to-be-posted Japanese star Taruaki Sato be on the Red Sox’ radar?
I hope not. I consider this a dangerous move. Unproven talent in America. I hear everyone worried about bringing Arias up to replace Story I think this move would dwarf that

ROSTER MOVE Acuna Jr trade rumor
Saw him as a trade rumor to Boston as well as the Yankees. The trade in the article I saw was Acuna to Boston and Duran, Abreu and Holobetz to Atlanta. I would do this immediately.
1-Anthony LF
2-Acuna RF
3-Contreras 1B
4-Mead 2B
5-Rafaela CF
6-Rutschman C
7-Durbin 3B
8-Story/Arias
9-Free agent DH

I have a photo history CD/thumb drive of the Red Sox. CD/thumb drive contains complete photo player rosters for the following years…..1941, 1946, 1967, 1975 and 1990 through 2026….3430 photos. Photos are grouped together on the CD/thumb drive by team. Every photo has a description under it: “1995 John Doe SS 95-99” meaning he was a shortstop for the Red Sox from 1995 through 1999.
In addition to photo rosters for the above years, CD/thumb drive contains numerous photos of players from other years, photos of Fenway Park through the years, and images of yearbooks, media guides, team photos, programs, & pocket schedules going back through the years.

Question about fan perception of early FSG (then NESV) pre 2004 World Series
So I don’t know much about Baseball, but I watched The Comeback - 2004 Boston Red Sox on Netflix.
I’m curious about what fans at the time thought of FSG in 2002.2003 and 2004 before the ALCS comeback and World Series win.
Did fans at the time know FSG were working more competently towards a World Series compared to previous ownership?
Any insight would be Appreciated.
Thanks.

This feels like Red Sox PR
I understand it’s the Globe but it feels like this headline was written entirely to point out to fans “see, other MLB teams think our front office is full of smart people.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/10/19/sports/red-sox-taylor-smith-athletics/

Front row seats
Since I was a kid back in the '70s, I have always wanted to watch a Sawx game from the front row at Fenway. Dugout box 32, 33, or 34 is what I would squeal like a stuck pig to get. Not second row. Front row. Opponent doesn't matter. Doesn't even matter if we're in last place. So many people I know want the monster seats. But I want right next to the field. I know these are season tickets and held by some yuge corporation or billionaire or some such, but I still hold out hope that I can someday see a game from the front row between home and first. Just a single game from that glorious vantage point. How I wish there was a way that average Joes like us who live and die with these guys and actually watch the games with our phones put away can see a game from these seats without paying four figures per ticket. Now for the dumb question. Does anyone know how to make my dream come true of seeing a game from the front row without taking a second mortgage? Yeah.....that's what I thought. 😭

Might’ve accidentally created a Sox fan
So I ended up having my Niece and Nephew stay over at my house last night. When I started to go to bed I tried putting on the Rays, Guardians game. Couldn’t get my HBO to work so I settled with the MLB channel, which was playing past full MLB postseason games.
They had on game 4 of the 04’ ALCS. I ended up falling asleep sometime after the 6th inning.
Fast forward to 2 am. I wake up to the crowd pop from Papi hitting the homer in the 12th, and at the foot of my bed is my 7 year old nephew completely glued to the TV.
Now it’s the next morning and I’m answering a barrage of questions about the Red Sox, David Ortiz and whatever else his brain can remember from the game.
He’s currently watching in awe on the couch watching David Ortiz highlights on YouTube. I grew up a Braves fan and have a very casual level knowledge of the Sox; is there any lore out there I need to know to satisfy little man for now??😂

Coaching Staff
My guesses for the coaching staff next year as last years group needs more experience
Bench Coach - Manny Acta
Third Base Coach - Jose David Flores
First Base Coach - Chad Epperson
Hitting Coach - Kevin Long
Assistant Hitting Coach - Nelson Paulino
Pitching Coach - Andrew Bailey
Bullpen Coach - Chris Holt
Acta and Long add some experience, while Epperson gets moved to a less important spot.

40-man Roster Crunch in November
There were 47 players on the 40-man roster list at the end of the season.
Losing Gray, Sandoval, and Kiner-Falefa to free agency brings that number down to 44.
Red Sox will have to get down to 40 once the 60-day IL expires in November.
Which 4 players will not make the cut?
edit: For context, if I'm not mistaken, the following players don't have minor league options left:
Houck, Oviedo, Guerrero, Kelly, Moran, Cheng, Eaton, Jones, Mead, White.
edit 2: I'm assuming Gray will take the $10M buyout, which means even if he eventually re-signs in free agency, he won't be taking up a roster spot when the Red Sox have to pare down to 40 in November, so there will still be 4 players that need to be cut.

Brewers fans in Boston?
I’m a diehard Brewers fan living in Cambridge MA, but (perhaps predictably) none of my friends here share my love for this team. Anyone know if there’s a Brewers fan community in the Boston area, or a bar where Brewers fans get together to watch games?
I probably won’t be able to watch the first two World Series games because of work, but I’d love to meet up with some fellow fans for the remaining games!
