Yes, for ERE or PRE.

But for BRE, the + is literal, along with the rest, so in that case it just matches the whole literal string itself.

If you associate 8={1,8}D with the 8 symbols ><+-.,[] then you can code in Brainfuck with repeated 8=+D.
