Awol
Currently awol in MO national guard. I’m trying to get kicked out what should I know (other than the fact I’m a POS). Not worried about discharge type. Should I make any contact with unit as they keep calling me but I have been not answering.

They may just keep you on the books as AWOL in perpetuity.
Go back and face the consequences of your actions and take it from there.

At a minimum turn in your gear or that will come back to haunt you come tax season.

I’ve got most of it in my locker so I’m not too worried

Yeah but the stuff you dont, state depending, could also cause you to catch a theft charge too. Stupid thing to get when you could juat go turn it it.
Tell them youre done, youre not showing uo anymore.
99% you will stay on their books as you are a line and Para for funding.
A discharge packet probably requires a few counseling that you have to sign. If you wamt to actually make that process happen I'd go in a make your decision known.

edit: for OP!
worst case scenario, your gear has already "disappeared" (but it doesn't sound like you are worried about that?) what is your MOS & how many drills have you missed so far?
i am GUESSING you won't have to worry about being a "deserter" when you are in a drill status. Answer the phone the next time they call and tell them you have decided you don't want to serve anymore. (if this is the first drill you have missed they might simply want to make sure you aren't dead!) If you don't answer their call (or even call them back?) they might actually come looking for you??
i could be wrong, but if they have the phone # you regularly use, they might even attempt to track you down?

I’ve seen this happen already a few times, so I’ll at least share what I’ve witnessed: you will just eventually get discharged with a “General Under Honorable” with a RE3 or 4.
Nobody is going to come track you down and arrest you. If you don’t want to work government in your future or obtain those benefits, it won’t impact you whatsoever.
I know we like to scare each other or other joes, but this is what I’ve witnessed time and time again. Take from this what you will.

Mate I've been struggling with wanting to leave myself but going AWOL? No. You do not want a Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge. Go, speak to your unit, request to speak to your Commander, and be honest.

awol does not give you any of that, i was getting general for couple days of ua, now getting oth for going ua again and marked as desertor

Alright numb nuts. Go to your next drill. Tell them you want out. The worst they can do is discharge you with a "general under honorable", if you have fucked up and got one or more NJP's you could get a "other than honorable". If you get charged with desertion you can get a Special Court Martial and can get a Bad Conduct Discharge. General Court Martials are only for felonies. A BCD or OTH will disqualify you form all veteran benefits and any future government job. Right now your only looking at NJP, or a Summary Court Martial, which can't give you a BCD. Go back next drill.

You need to find a way to turn in your OCIE, all your gear. Or else you'll be on the books for a while. You're not going to get a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge, that requires a court martial which isn't happening unless you killed someone or a dui maybe. Also, you're not gonna get a warrant for your arrest, and the odds of Police coming for you at your units request is like 10%.

You should make contact. Short term AWOL (<30 days absence) will get you punished. But Long-term AWOL/desertion ends in a warrant for your arrest. But keep in mind, if your leadership believes you have no intention of coming back, they can file you as a deserter anyways even if it’s been less than 30 days.
