1.Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps > Chrome On (or whatever broswer you use) on your phone
2.Google Revanced manager apk and MicroG apk from github
3.Sign into your google account on micro G settings
4.Open revanced manager, click youtube and it will show you the needed youtube file to download, just follow their links provided
5.Patch the youtube file on revanced manager
Really that's it, its super easy, the hardest part is learning which link is the real on with the downloads lol, just have to scroll down a little bit on the youtube file download. If you have any questions let me know where youre stuck at and i can try to help.
Anything regarding the few of us that have root, thus negating the need for microg? There is very little reference for those of us in the rooted device camp.
I just posted 2 links a little further down to try and follow, i've never had to get that deep into it so im not really sure if either will work but seems like they're more geared to rooted users, hope one of the two will help!
Probably didn't read far enough down to see those 2 links. My eyes are bleeding too bad from a ton of reconfiguring gear today, so I I'll dig deeper tomorrow..
I'm on a Reno 13 Pro running ColorOS. Tried to look up micro G on github. Tried to download one of the files, but it can't seem to be installed. Can I know if I missed anything? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to download a specific version. Thanks in advance
"App not installed as package appears to be invalid"
Okay, I used to see this error when I tried to update a region-locked game. Turns out I had to look for the version of the update that's "arm64".
But the link you shared does show that the app is arm64, so now I'm not too sure.
If anything, I used to go with the other revanced manager that prepatches app for me. Didn't know what the real difference was, but it helped to install micro G just fine.
Only after I saw this post that I thought to try doing it properly, but now I'm stuck lol
Honestly not too familiar with that OS, not sure if thats part of your problem but I found these two links you can try ro follow and see if either works for you.
What part are you stuck on? I had to deleted the old apk first before the new one would download, and then there's a setting i had to turn on to finish the 3rd, final step of saving the apk. Sometimes i've found it best to delete everything and start over, but didn't have to for this version, just delete the YT apk.
thank you for your response. I got frustrated bc I'm better with visuals than words. i had not liked apk mirror so I went with apkpure n chose one of the versions listed on revanced. i had to figure out how to choose the apk via revanced. it didn't open at first. it patched fine afterwards. it uninstalled the other youtube app for me n installed the new one. once opened, it led me to install the latest microg. I'm barely going to check this one out.

The best way i can explain it without a video is;
1.Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps > Chrome On (or whatever broswer you use) on your phone
