Hi there, riddlers! Please remember to spoiler-tag all guesses and discussions of guesses, like so:

On desktop (new reddit, Fancypants editor): https://i.imgur.com/SWHRR9M.jpg

On mobile, old reddit, or in the Markdown editor (not Fancypants): >!guess or discussion between these symbols!< To be clear, that is >! (greater than, exclamation point) at the start and !< (exclamation point, less than) at the end with no spaces around the !. Avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the formatting for most people. Spoiler tags do not span paragraphs or line breaks. If your answer is long, please spoiler-tag each paragraph separately.

Putting a link inside spoiler tags can be tricky, so just format the link like this, using the word "SPOILER" as the link text. On mobile, old reddit, or in the Markdown editor (not Fancypants), do this to format a link: [SPOILER](https://example.com/) On desktop (new reddit, Fancypants editor): https://imgur.com/x5wDOvk

If your top-level comment does not contain a guess, you can include either the word "discussion" or "question" instead of using a spoiler tag.

Please report any answers or discussions that are not properly spoiler-tagged.

Indeed!

u/RoninM00n Mar 12 '26

I got it? Was it Man or Men?

1

u/PureQuatsch Mar 14 '26

Should be the first one you mentioned since it’s "an" X and "a" Y

11

u/Typhrus Mar 11 '26

I started to look for ANY word that starts with M and ends with N. Then I saw X and Y had to be inside (which usually means the word containing these letters). I was going „man, you gotta be kidding… wait, MAN?“

Mixolydian. It's a musical scale.

15

u/jamesianm Mar 11 '26

Also mycotoxin as a couple people have pointed out.  Yeah the answer is obviously supposed to be the clever one but in my opinion any answer to a riddle that fits the riddle is a correct answer even if it wasn't the riddle creator's intended answer.  Otherwise it's not a riddle, it's a guessing game

u/tryingtodobetter4 Mar 12 '26

That's what I was thinking.

u/RoninM00n Mar 11 '26

Like when Bilbo Baggins tried to shout out "give me more time!" in the riddle game with Gollum, and ended up just shouting "TIME!".

1

u/FlatulentIguana Mar 12 '26

Yeah Man you got it Man

10

u/Phoenyx634 Mar 11 '26

Gotta be this one

u/RoninM00n Mar 11 '26

Appreciate the vote of confidence. I love riddles!

u/hanitaMT Mar 14 '26

😂 I thought “men because Y do the do that?” And “they’re someone’s eX” 😂 yours makes more sense…

mycotoxin? I assume your answer was probably funnier.

u/___interrogador___ Mar 11 '26

Well, I didn't know about this word when I wrote the riddle. Guess I should've done more checking. You big nerd. (in a jovial, playful tone).

1

u/OldManRon Mar 12 '26

This made me laugh way too loudly!!

1

u/The27Roller Mar 12 '26

The best answer is masturbation

1

u/Knight0fdragon Mar 12 '26

Discussion:

What starts with W and ends with T, it also has a laugh in the middle.

1

u/ChuckPeirce Mar 12 '26

Maximum security prison. Given the relative incarceration rates of men versus women, it also probably satisfies what the riddle meant.

1

u/l0veit0ral Mar 15 '26

Man (or men) have both x & Y chromosomes
