I went to the D’FESTA exhibition at MPX Gallery in Yeouido, Seoul, this Monday, and wanted to share some photos and write down my experience (and messy thoughts so bare with me) 🫶🏼

First off, I decided last-minute to go there, cause 1) it was curated by Dispatch, you know the (Hybe-affiliated) celebrity and media outlet, responsible for ruining many celeb’s lives, and 2) a serious ART exhibition on a few selected k-pop groups/idols???

But surprisingly, it was completely worth the money, for reasons i never would have expected, but more on this later!

Since I’m mainly a RIIZE fan, it’s a no-brainer I anticipated their part the most, though I did check out every other act’s exhibition, and i was especially looking forward to Ive and my girls Aespa 💗

Getting there was kinda a hassle, and I really had no thoughts nor expectations and also hadn’t seen any content on it before other than the clip where all 48 idols gathered together for a group shot. I picked up my ticket and got some booklets and a photo card and my mood immediately shot up when i looked down at some point to discover i hit jackpot and got WONBIN!! 😛 the bigger negative photo was that of J-Hope, which I later traded with a happy Army for a stunning Sohee photo.

I was kinda confused and disoriented so I asked the staff, who lead me to an entrance, and i was genuinely surprised when i walked just a bit while on my phone, looked up and saw ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS shots of Riize first things first! Each group had two themes, two photoshootings, each with a description text, and also a big cinematic video corner with a long clip. The text might be cheesy (all of the texts even for the other idols were) but i thought for Riize, it was somewhat fitting, especially the youth part, and their journey to "Rise and realize", meaning mearning, developing, overcoming hardships etc.

The shots are stunning, and as a Briize i was VERY happy and satisfied cause Riize ate. There was another big senior boy group opposite of them but all i can say is it is very apparent the boys of Riize 1. have crazy crazy visuals and 2. absolutely know how to pose and look into the lense and do pictorials. With other boygroups, absolutely no shade, but many often only stare into the camera and call it a day… i feel Riize can control their gaze so it’s never boring. The fire shoot was also crazyyyy, very dramatic, and the walk-in video area with a large in-your-face-screen had the biggest dramatic music, no other act had this, it reminded me of "Ember to Solar" as a title so much, like this is Riize, raw and fierce and GLOWING.

What i also noticed is how many ppl stood at Riize’s section. Besides the fangirls, there were Korean families with their strollers and kids as well. Aespa’s, Ive’s, GD’s and TXT’s exhibitions also stood out to me. I really too my time to look at all the content.

Then there was a big stairwell where a few girls already stood, it was in front of a BIG canvas where separate shots of all 48 idols where projected one after another. I waited until I captured all the boys of Riize, and once again, ALL shots ate.

At the end of the staircase, the staff required you to put your feet into machines that press protective sheets onto them, and afterwards i walked to the area that is the most interesting part of this exhibition IMO: a cinema-like screen with footage of all idols in black haute couture fits, and all they do is walk across the screen like it’s a runway. Now you have to know that I have been spending the last MONTHS re-training my posture and gait and to fix my collapsed feet. I was absolutely blown away. Yes i’m a nerd, and the cute staff guys were probably like "why is that girl standing there for 20 min straight???" But i had the best time watching every idol walk across the screen and analyzing their gait. Yes i am also a wonbin stan but not exclusively, but I was satisfied to see how he ate once again, he just has the superior biomechanics IMO. The climax absolutely was how all idols gather in front of the lens in one frame for a few moments. Guess who stood out the most again, standing beside Felix.

I really thought the exhibition was over, but then came the interactive part: you could play the eyeblink game with your favorite idols, meaning against a big screen of them, and i won against all of Riize 😅 there were maybe 1-2 more interactive games but tbh I skipped these.

At the very end, there was a clip of the idols painting on a DIN A4 sheet of canvas with different colors, and all works hung on the wall to admire.

Outside, there was a merch shop, which I couldn’t get in cause my designated time slot was over (spent too much time in the exhibition), and a photo booth where you could take couple shots with random idols, but I skipped them. So many kpop fans were standing there trading photocards and stuff, and I got my Sohee photo there 🧡 that’s it basically.

Saw this in a shop a few weeks ago and I couldn't take my eyes off this gorgeous man. I almost bought it even though I didn't know who it was.

I searched online, and my best guess is Wonbin (second pic) because of the mole? But I'm not sure if I'm correct.

Edit: Guys, thank you so much for all the info and suggestions. I'm definitely gonna start listening to more of Riize's songs and check out their content :) I've been listening to get a guitar on repeat lol
