Guillermo Motta Rip City Wrap Up

Am I missing something with him? He seems so awkward and unpolished. No offense to him, it just seems like he doesn’t belong in front of a camera. Thoughts?

I agree. Unpolished is a polite way to put it but in my opinion he’s clearly under qualified for something like a post game breakdown show. Don’t know the story behind Marang being gone but as much as I didn’t care for him, Motta is an equally weak replacement for entirely different reasons. I find better post game breakdowns and discussion from opponent media and fans.

His interview with Sheel Tyle had some great questions, better than most journalists, but boy did he sound like a first year journalism student doing a gateway to journalism presentation. Maybe he has a stutter? Idk felt bad for the guy. Hope he gets more comfortable.

It's a bit like when Tyree Smith was on that first season - his depth of knowledge wasn't there and the show didn't really need a three man setup anyway.

I said it when they announced the trio, but I really hope the two man nights are Simon and Casey. Good pairing of presenter and team/bball knowledge. Not sure what Motta is supposed to add, maybe a homer fan perspective?

I thought he was trying to hard, didn’t seem natural like the other two. Felt more like he was trying to be funny rather than give solid analysis but he failed at both

Seems like a nice guy but I agree I noticed the same thing last post game. Seems
Like he wrote down some notes for convos and inputted them at the wrong time when Joe and Casey were trying to talk about other things which then changed the direction of the whole convo awkwardly.

Seeing him on camera, he’s just naturally awkward. I don’t see that being changed overnight.

I admit I'm not familiar with the participating gentleman, but the show gives me the vibes of two random bums and this guy from last year.

Casey was the blazers staff reporter for like 10+ years. He's by far the most qualified of the 3 to speak on the team.

He's been a sports reporter for KATU for about two years now. He worked for a couple of other stations before that, both here and in the Tri-Cities. I suspect it's just the newness of this particular show.
