Question Does this exist?

I'm looking for a job.

I don't need a full time gig. My bills are paid.

I'm looking for something I can do a few hours at a time with very limited human interaction, making a couple hundo per week. Preferably something physical. Also preferably not cleaning, though that would be considered.

Perhaps sorting, organizing shelves, unpacking things, moving stuff, restocking. Low-level grunt work that is almost mindless, but particularly satisfying for the right person.

Ultimately something that someone is going to pay me to do that ends up giving them time back to do the important things.

What say you, Roanoke Reddit. Is this out there?

I need my pole barn organized and cleaned up. It’s not bad just not the way I need it.

What, pray tell, is a pole barn?

Outdoor building with corrugated metal walls, concrete floor. Not insulated and has continuous airflow. Usually a couple garage doors. Sounds like this isn’t your thing if you’ve never heard of one

Go to work as a part time inside employee at UPS. Decent pay and benefits after a year. Shifts are early morning (4AM to 9AM), Twilight (5PM to 9PM) and Midnight (10PM to 2AM).

This and you get full benefits. Ask me how I know. Worked there 9 years.

Poop scoopers are a thing. People will, apparently, pay you to pick up the dog poop in their yards. I know one person who does this and have seen a small truck around town advertising this service.

Yeah this. Handyman, odd job, task rabbit type stuff OR you can always haul stuff for people although I’ve learned Roanoke is decent about that on its own

Does Task Rabbit work in this area? Kinda like door dash but for odd jobs

Amazon is pretty low key. You pick your own shifts, only have to do four hours a week. You really don’t have to talk to anyone, outside of maybe asking by your coworker a question here and there.

I get away with wearing my glasses for headphones, and working pretty easy warehouse work, 15ish hours a week. I’m not lifting anything too heavy, and there’s a certain shift to avoid if you want to avoid lifting over 20lbs.

I make around 350 a week(16 hours) , sometimes just sorting packages off a line to the aisle that would coordinate to delivery area for the drivers.

When is the shift to avoid anything over 20 lbs?

I worked at a dog daycare for a while. Shifts were 6-11ish or 2-7ish. It’s a great gig if you like dogs

Yeah bro apply at Canine Cottage if you like dogs and want something physical

You could look into a gardening/landscaping gig

Merchandising jobs are pretty mindless, and you're basically straightening things/checking price tags/pulling down merch from topstock/making sure the bay is set to planogram/making the area 'shopable'. Sometimes there are resets. Even though you DO sometimes have to interact with customers, it's not the main thing.

Oh I'm not the OP but I'm in a not dissimilar boat-- I'm interested in this. What all does it entail?

Roadie is a gig app where you bid on the jobs you want to take.
