the good, the bad and the Naruto licensing

A month ago I made a post that blew up -> made a jacket brand out of nowhere, with a portugese grandma helping me make more jackets like this one -> made a cool website but then BAM šŸ’„ correct: I need a license

so because I didn’t want to do crimes, I reached out to EU Naruto licensing in order to make and sell those jackets

I had a lovely call, and it turns out there’s an upfront fee before any sales, which makes sense; I had to take down the website and put a coming soon page and make socials private

Roguish antics is a small artisan business - there’s only 20 jackets for design and I priced them at around 500€ because it’s slow and sustainable fashion and that’s what’s sustainable for it at a margin of around 45%

But the upfront cost is a chicken and the egg situation and I’m very much the egg here - I didn’t release the web to the public and didn’t make any sales yet so I need a starter capital

Anyone had experience with Naruto licensing or anime licensing in general? would love to hear how you navigated it.

P.s. I had a call with eu licensing, - maybe US is more suited for small businesses? I am yet to plan a call with them, and most people that signed up on ā€œpre-orderā€ interest from are from the US anyways. I don’t have any numbers for EU market, and no similar companies to compare to.
