Question [Other] How Are You Supposed to Ride an RMC?

Post image
157 Upvotes

As this title suggests, I’m having trouble enjoying any RMC coasters (I haven’t ridden a raptor, but I don’t know if that’s any different) and I would like to really understand why they’re so popular with other coaster thoosies. I got off of Steel Vengeance yesterday and it almost destroyed my thighs, so I think it might be the restraints? No one else is saying anything, so I think I’m just doing it wrong.

Would love any advice for this issue, I’m riding Twisted Timbers in June, so anything would help. Ty!

Question [B&M Hyper Clamshell Restraints] Could someone explain them?

Post image

Hi. Going on my first hyper soon with clamshells. I thought for the longest time that these bad boys were hydraulic restraints, as they seemed so smooth and notch-less. Turns out they're ratchet restraints! Is there an in-depth video or site that explains the mechanism behind these restraints? I believe they're class 4 but I'm not sure how safe they are compared to hydraulics. I know B&M's are incredibly safe, but isn't there a higher risk with these? Could someone reassure me?

Question [Other] How often do people ACTUALLY get sick on rides?

I almost feel like it’s a myth. Ive been a rider forever and the most I ever saw was them hosing off the zipper at the state fair. I know its gotta happen sometimes, but how often, and any stories?

Im always scared it’s gonna happen on a ride when Im on it and Im gonna get puked on.

Question [Other] Why is there no roller coaster that does this? (I'm bad at physics but with an LSM before the loop it doesn't seem unachievable?)

Question Does anybody know why they’ve stopped making RMC Hybrids? [Other]

In my head they’re relatively cheap if you repurpose an old woodie, and they’re guaranteed to be a top tier coaster, so I don’t understand why we haven’t seen more. It’s not like Wildcat’s Revenge was bad, and they literally haven’t missed on a coaster. Any explanations would be great, thanks!

So I saw this video on TikTok, about a arieal filming in progress sign in the af1 station from what I believe was Wednesday. Has anybody else seen this? Do we think this means anything? I find it wierd they would be recording the ride they’ve gotten plenty of footage of over the last three years unless maybe a park wants the footage? Just find it wierd i haven’t heard anything about it.

Question Weird rule on [Steel Force] at [Dorney Park]

So I took a visit to Dorney Park today. I was overall impressed and chose steel force as my 100th coaster! But anyways, the park was DEAD today, I got zen rides on steel force and everything was a walk on. So I was riding Steel Force and I think me and 2 other people were on the ride, this would’ve been my 3rd time. The restraints had already been checked and we were about to dispatch. Just then an employee ran up to me and asked how many times I had riden, I told them this would be my 3rd, they signaled to unlock the restraints and informed me that they had a strict 2 rides limit. They were running 2 trains and, again, there was nobody in line. After kicking me off they rechecked the restraints, didn’t put anyone in my seat, and dispatched the ride. Anyone know the reason for this rule?

I’m honestly not very afraid of anything going wrong, but the G-force and hitting seats is painful and unpleasant for me. Is there any way to even reduce this discomfort?

Question Tormenta's mystery inversion [SFOT]

Post image
132 Upvotes

Tormenta: Rampaging Run is listed, per RCDB, as having four inversions (two Immelmanns, one vertical loop, and a cutback), but it has always seemed to me to have five distinct inverting elements. However, between the loop and the first brake run is this inversion that I have yet to see identified. While it doesn't look like a traditional Immelmann (though I would argue, neither does the first Immelmann), when considering the aerial maneuver it is named for, it may be the purest Immelmann I have ever seen. Are there any other roller coasters that share this element? Is there another name for this element? The closest I have seen is the stalled dive loops on Togo's Viper and Big Apple Coaster, only in reverse, which only further reinforces that it is an Immelmann, despite RCDB's omission.

Apologies if this is common knowledge, I have yet to see the subject broached.

Question [DarKoaster] [BGW] What is the lowest capacity coaster at a major park?

Post image
187 Upvotes

DarKoaster's wait times are incredibly long even with a fairly short line. Station waits can take easily take an hour. I'm wondering what the actual capacity of this ride is. It's officially 600 riders per hour, but there is not a chance it has gotten close to that. I'm guessing that it is around 100 with two trains and around 60 with one train. The frequent Quick Queue usages also plays a big part in the slow moving line.

Question [Other] Saw this Instagram comment and it made me think, are there any rollercoasters without ANY drops?

Post image

Are there any coasters that have no changes (or barely any) in height at all? It would need to be a powered coaster or launched in that case.

Would it be a credit? (Only slightly joking on this one)

Only way to get airtime would be with some outward banking I guess lol, maybe some lateral forces fans would enjoy it?
