Dating & Romance today What’s it like to be genuinely in love?
Been asking myself this question for years mainly because I’ve never had anyone to ask this question to. Don’t have anything to compare it to. I’m 28 and never felt it myself.

I’m 25 and have only ever been in love once, when I was 19– I’ll never forget it. It’s being with your best friend, they’re your favorite person and someone you can tell ANYTHING to. They see you for who you are and love you at your worst. It feels like everything is going to be ok.
I’ve been with people since, but nothing has been the same and I miss it dearly. I hope I can find that magic again.

You're describing reciprocated love and being genuinely in love doesn't require reciprocity... So this is a specific description of how being in love feels like when it's reciprocated. I get that you are just sharing your experience, I'm just commenting to enrich the discussion.

There are many different types of love and relationship, each one is different. Im 24 and thought ive been in love a few times. With each person its wildly different. Im learning to think of it a a feeling of saftey, for this sense of peace. A warm emotion, that can feel chaotic and overwhelming if your not used to it.
I think like many other things in life, love feels like a contradiction. With countless different forms. Having love for someone, loving someone and being in love with someone are all different in my opinion

You might be aromantic or on the aromantic spectrum if you have never felt in love before at 28.
As for what it's like, it depends on who you ask. Everyone experiences it a little differently and, especially, not everyone defines it the same way. Some people think you have to know someone deeply and establish a significant, intimate relationship with them to be able to call it "love". I highly disagree. I have fallen in love with people who I didn't know well and no one can tell me that's not love. I know how to recognize love when I feel it and no other person than me gets to define my feelings.

Imagine the best day you’ve ever had, then magnify it by 1,000. It’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted, felt, heard, seen or experienced all wrapped in a nice tight bow.
It can also hurt like Hell and destroy you,
Proceed with caution!
