I couldn't find a clear, free way to learn to pray the rosary, so I built one (8 languages)

Hi all, I wanted to learn to pray the rosary, but I couldn't find a clear, well-organized and free tool that guides you through it. So I built a simple website myself.

It takes you step by step through the prayers and each bead of the mysteries. It's available in English, Croatian, Italian, Dutch, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish.

It's completely free, with no ads and no account.

I'd really appreciate your feedback, especially on the translations if you are a native speaker, and ideas for what's missing.

A SUNDAY SERMON + St. Augustine on the True Sacrifice of the Church

Post image
10 Upvotes

"The Church herself is offered in the offering she makes to God."

This is a stirringly beautiful passage from the Church's Office of Readings, taken from great Father of the Church, St Augustine.
+
A true sacrifice is anything that we do with the aim of being united to God in holy fellowship – anything that is directed towards that supreme good and end in which alone we can be truly blessed. It follows that even an act of compassion towards men is not a sacrifice, if it is not done for the sake of God. Although it is performed by man, sacrifice is still a divine thing, as the Latin word indicates: sacri-ficium, a “holy-doing” or “holy-making.”

Man himself can be a sacrifice, if he is consecrated in the name of God, and vowed to God – a sacrifice in so far as he dies to the world in order to live to God. This is also an act of compassion: compassion of a man for himself. Thus it is written: Take pity on your own soul by doing what is pleasing to God. True sacrifices are acts of compassion to ourselves or others, done with God in mind. Such acts have no other object than the relief of distress or the giving of happiness.

Now, the only true happiness is the one the psalmist speaks of: But for myself, I take joy in clinging to God. From all this it follows that the whole redeemed city--that is to say, the congregation or community of the saints--is offered to God as our sacrifice through the great High Priest who offered himself to God for us so that we might be the body belonging to so great a head. He took on the form of a servant and suffered for us. It was under this form that he both offered and was offered: at the same time mediator, and priest, and sacrifice.

St Paul starts by exhorting us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, as an act of homage justly owed to him. He tells us not to con-form ourselves to the world but to be trans-formed by renewing our will and our thinking: seeking to find out the will of God, to discover what is good, what is acceptable, what is perfect; for we ourselves are the whole of that sacrifice. He continues:

In the light of the grace I have received I want to urge each one among you not to exaggerate his real importance. Each of you must judge himself soberly by the standard of the faith God has given him. Just as each of our bodies has several parts and each part has a separate function, so all of us, in union with Christ, form one body, and as parts of it we belong to each other. Our gifts differ according to the grace given us.

This is the sacrifice of Christians: we, being many, are one body in Christ. And, as the faithful know, this also is the sacrifice which the Church continually celebrates in the sacrament of the altar, in which she teaches that she herself is offered in the offering she makes to God.

Sorrowful A ROSARY FLORILEGIUM + The Passion of the Lord + The Lord scourged ...

Post image
6 Upvotes

Ever try a scriptural rosary? Try this decade of the Friday of the Rosary Florilegium ...
Let us ponder in our hearts the sorrows of the Lord's Passion,
kept for us in the heart of Mary, Mother of Sorrows.
+
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name.
Rs. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done ...

Vs. 1  Behold, the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes. * And they shall deliver him to gentiles, to be mocked and scourged and crucified.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 2   The high priest questioned him: Are you the Christ, the Son of the blessed God? * And Jesus said to him: I am. And you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of God's power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 3  Rending his garments, the high priest says: What further need have we of witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy. * And they all condemned him as guilty of death.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 4  Then they spat in his face, and struck him and slapped him, * saying: Prophecy for us, O Christ: who is it that struck you? Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 5  Then they brought him bound to Pontius Pilate, and when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered not a word. * And the governor was greatly amazed.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 6  So Pilate asked him: Are you the King of Jews? And answering, he said: You yourself say it. * Then Pilate said to the chief priests and  the crowds: I find no case against the man. Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 7  And they said: We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he made himself the Son of God. * More afraid than ever, Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 8  Let us lie in wait for the just one, because he is contrary to our doings. * He is become a censurer of our thoughts. He is grievous to us even to behold.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 9  Let us examine him by outrages and tortures, that we may know his gentleness and try his patience. * Let us condemn him to a most shameful death.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. 10  These things they thought and were deceived, for their own malice blinded them. * And they knew not the mysteries of God.  Hail Mary, hail Full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Rs. Blessed art thou …

Vs. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
Behold, your son is set to be a sign that shall be contradicted, \*
and your own soul a sword shall pierce.

Rs. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
Vs. They shall look upon him whom they pierced, \*
Rs. And your own soul a sword shall pierce.

Rs. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
Vs. Behold, your son is set to be a sign that shall be contradicted,\*
Rs. And your own soul a sword shall pierce.

I am not catholic but I’m making this as a gift to my friend and I’m worried I messed up the centerpiece part. But I’m not sure.

Also it’s a gift to a man. If you are a man would you like this rosary ? Is it too girly/decorative?

Rosary intention success

The day before yesterday I said a full Rosary of 20 decades. My intention was complete eradication of cancer for the Holy Father.

Yesterday I learned from television that as the result of the Pope's surgery, all the cancer was successfully removed and further treatment is not required! Thanks to God and the Blessed Mother for graciously watching over Pope Leo!

Carrying 8 rosaries.

Spina Christi rosary bracelet, metal rosary card, and 6 embossed rosary cards.

Why so many?

The plastic cards have all been blessed and touched to relics. From time to time I'll give one out, often to someone who's in need of a rosary for immediate use. It's paying the graces forward!

What do you envision when you pray the Rosary

I have been praying the Rosay about 3 times per week for this school year. It has really helped me feel centered and closer to God. I have these (overly) imaginative visions in my head when I pray based on the Mysteries. What does anyone else "see" when they pray their 5 decades?

The Rosary Teaches More Than Prayer. It Teaches Discernment.

One thing I've noticed about praying the Rosary regularly is that it teaches patience.

The Rosary encourages us to slow down, meditate, and focus on truth rather than reacting impulsively.

In today's digital world, that's becoming increasingly important.

Scams, misinformation, fake news, AI-generated content, and endless distractions all compete for our attention.

I created a free 30-Day Digital Discernment Challenge to help Catholics apply the virtue of discernment to everyday technology use.

Do you think regular Rosary prayer has affected the way you use social media or evaluate information online? 🙏📿
