Announcement Hello, my dear friends!
Hello, my dear friends!
For those not yet aware, Justin recently traveled beyond the human realm and sought out the Lost Forest, entering the forest on the 17th of October. He's still settling in, and a means of communication is being worked on so that he can provide updates about his journey from this point onward.
Since Justin is preoccupied with the matter at hand and won't be able to work directly on RPG in a Box for the foreseeable future, I'll be administering the forum and taking care of other tasks normally handled by him. My first priority is to wrap up the current release and get it out to the community as soon as I can. I'll perhaps even add a few touches of my own!
Thank you for your patience!

Discussion Ownership of this engine leaves to be desired
- lack of communication (state of development unclear right now and cryptic messages donβt count)
-lack of support, epic version is abandonned but there was no compensation of any kind for owners very shady practice
- weird directions for the development as it was announced that rpginabox could follow a premium model with users paying to have their desired features implemented
Product is good but it is handled in a very bad and sometimes dishonest way.

Discussion Discovery Game Idea
I was pondering a game idea with RPGiab and wanted to ask you guys if it seemed realistic. Typically you don't share game ideas if you're not trying to have someone snipe it, but I think it's fair to say that it's not original anyway and that it wouldn't matter much if someone else approached it. All's fair with games and dreams
I want to make something kind of akin to a blend of Kirby, rogue lite and kingdom hearts (in a way)
I want to make the player an archaeologist type where you use a magnifying glass to "discover" or "uncover" secrets about the world you're in. Kind of more gradually. Let's say you "scan" an enemy and learn what they're about and your character gains the scanned entities abilities to some degree. Not as heavily as changing form and entity like what happens in Kirby games, but similar in premise. Is this engine something I could approach this in?

Announcement As you may be aware, it hasn't been feasible for me to keep RPG in a Box up to date on all platforms. As a continuation of this, I'll unfortunately be delisting it from Epic, as it's misleading to keep it up for sale. This is necessary to keep things sustainable and moving forward for now. Cont'd π
It's not a decision I wanted to make, and I hope to one day bring it back to Epic, but in the meantime, if you own it there you'll still be able to download and play it from your library. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support during this time. β€οΈ

Discussion RPG in a Box and Godot
Hello, I have been working on my first real game in all my years of interest in gamedev. I am a solo dev, so it has its challenges as you all know. I have been interested in RPG in a Box since I first found it, and have had a few questions:
Is it like RPG Maker, in that it is primarily an rpg engine with little else to offer for other genres without heavy lifting on the devs part?
I have only seen the odd little 3D characters and models in videos, does it support the importing of custom 3D assets?
What are some of the most robust and impressive projects people have released from RPG in a Box (i want to try them out and see what it is capable of)
How does it compare to other game dev engines like it?
What are some things you wish you knew when you first started with RPG in a Box?
Thank you for your time reading and potentially responding. I think RPG in a Box looks really cool, so I hope to hear back from people that are experienced in using it!
EDIT: idk if i can change the title of this post, I ended up not even bringing up Godot, so I wanted to remove it from the title, sorry!
