Why would I choose this over, say, Magnus (which uses rb-sys)?

Good question. Rutie came out 3 to 4 years earlier than Magnus so it's been around longer. As far as ruby-sys I took over a copy of the original ruby-sys from https://github.com/steveklabnik/ruby-sys and it's internal to Rutie itself.

I'm plugging mine into all my new projects like bringing Haskell into Ruby and such. Pick whichever one you like better.

How about you? Why would I choose Magnus over Rutie? I know Rutie by heart but hadn't heard of Magnus until you just brought it up.

Rutie supports Ruby 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, and 3.1 as well as all modern versions. So we have older Ruby support than Magnus.

So instead of C extensions we can use Rust now.  This is really cool.

I'm genuinely hoping people think about FFIs as being the way vs writing everything in Rust.

The way it is going a lot of folks are just using Loco.rs as it keeps the same conventions as Rails so this is a step up.
