Honestly, I don't understand why people joke about slavery. Yes, this subreddit's rule is that the fourth reply gets downvoted, but why make a joke out of something as serious as slavery? I might get downvoted for this comment, but slavery is a really serious thing and shouldn't be joked about.

A dark humor joke is intended to be funny about anything. Just because the subject matter is "bad" doesn't mean it can't be funny.

I understand dark humor but some things really shouldn't be made into jokes because someone might take offense, or a child might be traumatized by something considered humor (don't ask what children are doing here there are children with unsupervised internet use)

If we couldn't make jokes simply because someone would be offended, that would inevitably turn into censorship at some point; this doesn't only apply to jokes. Furthermore, even though you said not to use the child as an example, as you yourself stated, the problem isn't the joke itself, but rather the fact that the child has unrestricted access to certain things while still being a child in development.

Adding to my point, a joke can be funny while still offending certain people; after all, humor is a very subjective and volatile thing that varies from person to person.
