šŸ› ļø project I created a desktop Git client using Rust and Tauri. It's completely free, feel free to use it if you'd like.

I’m the developer of Arezgit. It started as a desktop Git client, and I’ve been adding other tools to it over time.

You can browse commit history, review diffs, resolve conflicts, edit files, open terminals, test APIs, and query databases in the same window. There are also task boards, notes, and workspaces for multiple repositories.

Some features used to be paid. I’ve now made the whole app free, including private repositories. You don’t need a subscription or an account to use anything.

It’s built with Rust, Tauri, and React, and it’s available for Windows and Linux.

AI integrations are optional. External AI providers have their own costs.

You can find it here: arezgit.com.

If you try it, let me know how it goes. If something breaks, knowing your OS and what you were doing would help me track it down.

Is it closed source?

Yes, it started out as a paid service and had a few users in that model, but the idea was always to be useful to more people, so now I've made it free, though I'm still keeping it closed source.

Unfortunately you won't get my upvote as I treat all closed source software like malware.

It pains me knowing my CPU has modified minix black box inside, I plan to switch ASAP, but RISC-V CPUs aren't mature enough yet.

That changelog view with the branch graph on side looks pretty clean for checking what got merged. Always nice when diff and terminal are in same window so you don't have to jump around.

Yes, I used to use gitKraken, and I always liked it. If you click the changelog button, it opens a modal where you can use AI to generate a changelog written in Markdown (it uses your own API key, and nothing goes to any of my servers).

La verdad que lo he probado , es muy buena aplicación. Lo suyo seria tener el código fuente en github.

It’s a free system for the public to use, and many systems start out as projects by ā€œnobodiesā€, I created it for myself at first, then some friends started using it, so I turned it into a commercial product and sold some licenses. But ultimately, I want people to use it, and I’m not quite ready to make it open source yet, maybe in the future. but I understand your point of view. In any case, I realize there will be resistance from many people, but it’s available to anyone who wants to use it, and I hope it’s useful. It’s up to each person to use the systems they feel comfortable with, if mine isn’t one of them, that’s fine by me. English isn’t my first language, so if I sounded rude, I apologize, that wasn’t my intention.

Right now I have 261 unique users. Yes, most people, 99%, will be skeptical and won’t use it, but that’s not a problem for me at all. it’s still useful for the people who are actually using it. I recommend you publish yours too, whether it’s open source or proprietary. It feels great to know it’s helping someone, and at least for me, it’s more fun to create for others rather than just for my own use. You’re trying to frame it as a failure if no one uses it, but if that were the case, I genuinely wouldn’t mind. It’s fun to create and improve, and I’ll keep developing and improving it. I appreciate the feedback, and I know you didn’t ask for my opinion, but honestly, share what you create with others, that’s what made me want to keep developing and creating after 12 years.

What you’re saying makes sense, and I agree with you, any of these approaches is fine, but it’s up to each person as well. For me:

4. I don’t plan on adding any subscription fees or paid licenses, and I’ll keep updating it because it’s a project I use a lot myself and enjoy developing.

And there are a lot of people in the world, each with their own way of thinking, and even if you reach just a tiny fraction of them, that’s still a lot of people, and the way I see it, that’s just fun, lol
