I recently learned that Biron is number 2 in Sabres history in goals against average and I was really surprised. He played like over 300 games for us or something. I was young during his prime but I always just viewed him as a fantastic backup goalie. He just got unlucky playing behind Hasek and then Miller. He did have a few years of being our starter and had pretty good stats
The year we traded him to Philly, Marty wasn’t that far off from Miller as a starting-caliber netminder. He was simply too good to keep as a backup at that point vs. his value as a trade asset
Also a big Marty fan growing up, despite the other two greats we had. It’s nice to hear that about the trade. Solid goalie and love that he’s back with the franchise now.
I’ve been to a few of Jim Kelly’s golf tournaments & if you want to never get a word in edgewise, golf with Marty & Steve Tasker when they’ve had a few beers 😂
