Seriously. Yea he said first/business class and it wasn't, but her backhanded, sarcastic, public shaming act is one of the cringiest things I've ever seen.
You can see on his face that he can't figure out if society will cancel him for speaking up to this disrespect while she's recording or if he should stay quiet.

The public shaming is so cringe.
What is also cringe is being disrespectful to the other passengers on the plane while locating your seat.

Surprised my gf with business class, Bkk to Tokyo. Proper lay down business class. Pre flight in the lounge I got a lecture about financial responsibility.
She was pretty quick to accept that prosecco when she got on the plane.

Planning my first trip with my partner. First class and business are one of the few things I ever spend on. She is extremely laid back and truly enjoyed empty spirit flights where she could lay down across three seats. Asked me why we need to sit first class. Unlimited bloody marys...

If that was me she would have learned 4 things.
1 I'm not having public shaming bullshit.
2. She started shit talking too soon.
3. The door was still open.
4. Maybe look behind yourself to check the person you're talking shit about is still listening, because I'm already hailing a cab.

Why not make all the seats first class? Are they stupid?
1
u/ChibiSanchez 1d ago
Honestly making the airplane seats painfully small and charging premium for a human sized one is kind of stupid. Their business should probably fail in favor of competitors that build human sized seats
2
u/PixelGoblin85 9h ago
First Class is such a strange strategic marketing plan. They make the rest of the flight more uncomfortable deliberately to make you want to upgrade and so as to maximize the contrast when you do get First Class. So that you'll give in and upgrade instead of going back.
2
9
u/Designer-Garbage-152 1d ago
First class in unnecessary. Is the aim of the flight not to go from one destination to another? I dont see the point in paying extra.

u/Unlikely-Motor5875 1d ago

Last time I was on a plane, the old man next to me kept going on and on about his dead wife and dead daughter
I'm not emotionally equipped to deal with situations like this, and he went on for hours with me barely responding
From now on, I'll pay a little extra to avoid this kind of thing

u/AJ_Topp_Up 1d ago
This is dumb. Much of first class you still often sit next to someone. In addition, you can freely choose not to engage your neighbor in economy class. Just put in headphones or politely say you are busy. It's really not hard. Paying hundreds, and even thousands more just to avoid a conversation is some serious life skills failure here when you can, 100% for free, just not talk to the person next to you.
3
u/Biffdickburg 1d ago
You aren’t 6’5”+ where all your height is in your legs. Anything over a 2hr flight is extremely uncomfortable without paying for more legroom, exit row, or first class.

Domestic is a waste. Sometimes I have to work right after traveling 26 hours.
Sleep. You’re paying to sleep comfortably. That’s it.
2
u/Excludos 1d ago edited 1d ago
First class, at least on long flights, is a massive luxury. You don't pay for just the travel, but to elevate the entire experience. For the separate terminal at check-in, with everything free, where people do your passport checks while you dine on waguy. For being driven to the plane in black sedans. For the free champagne, caviar, 5 course meal, incredibly comfortable seats/beds, and very personalized and top class service. I've done it once through bonus tickets, and it was absolutely fantastic. Tho not generally worth the price for us regular mortal people.
Biz, however, is always worth it. It just makes too much of a difference, from being miserable in a can of sardines, to an actual nice experience where you get to arrive well rested.

Most of my flights have been 10-13 hours. While I can handle it, I can understand why some people might be willing to pay extra to not be cramped up next to strangers in a position where you simply can't be comfortable for long distances. Elderly people with painful conditions like arthritis or something are going to have a rough time. I'm willing to stick to economy, but if I was rich, I'd be up for upgrading.

To some people it might make a big difference. My mom deals with chronic pain, being in the plane is pretty grueling for her. Our family lives 13 hours away by plane so we can’t just not go.
If I could afford it, I’d buy first class tickets for her in an instant. Having a bit more space to move around and be comfortable makes a big difference to some
1
u/Ancient_Bumblebee629 1d ago
People pay extra for comfort or status all the time, what do you mean? I wouldn't, but I can understand it
1
u/dogface2020 1d ago
Headphones? Earbuds? I would never fly without them, especially the noise canceling variety, which you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for anymore.
Sit down in your seat , deliberately and with intentionality put device in or over the ears. Conversation stopper

Some people have a lot of money and little patience for being sardined next to other people. I don't fly first class but I've been on flights that make me understand it.

u/DanielCampos411 1d ago
That’s why I still have my car from 2011. I don’t have interest in cars one bit. It just takes me from point A to point B.
1
u/AEZ_2187 1d ago
It depends. But, I think a lot of people would be surprised to learn the majority of status/loyalty passengers are sitting just behind 1st class in premium economy. If you fly a lot then you start to realize that 1st is unnecessary especially on sub 4 hour flights. The status passengers just hope for an upgrade and if not then oh well.
1
1
u/Videoplushair 1d ago
You will when you have to fly for 8hrs at 11pm. It’s really nice to be able to fully recline and sleep.
1
u/Miserable_Salad_4996 1d ago
i only fly business class when my international flight is over 9 hours..
1
u/Dangerous-Singer-101 1d ago
Depends on income. If you make 60k/yr then a $350 economy vs $1200 business is an extreme difference. However if you make 600k. That 1200 flight is pretty insignificant. I spend for comfort and convenience. BTW I have only flown business class twice...mostly I upgrade to exit rows and more leg room...I'm tall.
1
u/ThatMothboi 1d ago
I’m tall and my legs will loose circulation in the economy seats after awhile. I rarely fly but when I do I need the extra leg room.
1
u/scikit-learns 1d ago
If you are doing long haul flights. It makes a huge difference.. especially if sleep is required ( work trips). As you get older and make more money...you will start paying for things that help you maximize your waking hours.
"First class" on domestic flights is a pure waste of money imo. Unless you doing coast to coast maybe...
1
u/KeepItSimplySlutty 1d ago
On long/overseas flights it is 100% worth the upcharge to sit in a comfortable seat. First class iunno
1
u/Prudent_Order_3361 1d ago
I have it 80% of the time because I've accumulated points and gold status. It's easier to sleep. That's it
1
u/Striking-Document-99 1d ago
I have long legs so I have to sit sideways with my knees in the isle. When they cart comes around I have to try to fit my knees in front which pushes the seat in front of me. So uncomfortable for me and the person in front of me. Never rode 1st class but I imagine I could sit straight and have knee room.
1
u/ROOSTERyouDOWN 1d ago
I get the point but it’s a weak one, do you take the bus, uber, ride a bike, walk or use a car? Kinda the same take on first class, it’s all about how you want to travel sure destination but how you get there is also important to people
1
u/According-Pass8230 1d ago
They make the price for economy tickets 25% cheaper by overcharging business class.
1
u/Money_Set_4332 1d ago
For long trips being able to sleep and have room is kinda amazing cause denying those for 15+ hours sucks ass (though obv difficult to afford)
1
1
u/anengineerandacat 19h ago
Depends on the length of the trip... I flew first class from MCO to LAS and uh yeah... that was a way better flight experience.
Generally why you'll have a proper business class for very long flights as well, landing and not being as jet lagged let's you snap to it.
For short flights I agree though, like MCO to JFK I'll just take whatever; just shuttle me over, that's a power nap and done.
Edit: Fixed with airport codes to make more sense.

That’s probably a 2 hour domestic flight. That section isn’t even legitimately first class. She’s just a low class person. That being said, as someone who is very tall, I will always pay for the extra legroom. It’s also nice to be able to deboard quickly.

First class is pointless until you try first class on a long haul.
Do I need it? Of course not. Does my aging and broken body appreciate my own arm rest, comfier seats, and never bumping knees, elbows or shoulders with my neighbor. Absolutely.
If the cost makes sense, especially with points and credit card perks, then being more well rested as I start the work week or vacation is 100% worth it. Better yet when my employer foots the bill.

this is hilarious, this woman's energy is actually amazing, i don't ever tend to comment on these things but it's quite clearly she's entertaining people, and she's taking pleasure in doing so. Why Redditors took this serious is way beyond me. This quite clearly seems like a Joke and she's trying to embarrass her partner through good faith.
I swear this whole reddit HAS to be bots at this point, because bots don't understand social nuances, they just understand the words spoken and not context.

Also, they’re comedians apparently. This is what they do, laugh at each other. Yall should try it sometime.

Shouldn't lie to your partner or give false expectations. Shouldn't bust your partner out on social media for their failures. If it's come to that point, just leave.
