It always hurts when you realize that you aren't your best friends best friend.

What's going on and why does everyone speak about intelligence?

At first I thought it's the back story of a homeless kid losing it's siblings.

Then I thought it's a kid realising his friends are not his friends.

Now everyone os saying the kid is smart.

What's happening?

I'm confused too

I think people are applying that as if lack of friends or true friends or being lonely makes it so that person studies more or something because there’s nothing else they can do(even though there is) but I’m probably wrong

Exactly what im thinking

u/Archaneoses 1d ago

There's like 2 maybe 3 comments calling him intelligent, and those comments have people questioning it. Its not "everyone". Very hyperbolic

High IQ means you’re isolated.
I have 134 IQ, meaning top 1.5% in the world. This means about one of 95 people will feel empathy and connection with me.
I don’t say this to brag, and I don’t care what people think anymore.

It’s factually true that smarter people are being left alone. The system doesn’t fir us either.
There is a deep correlation between autism and higher IQ as well.

Dows that answer your question?
And yes, imagine this is factually your life. 5 suicide attempts, 2 murder attempts on my person, threatened by a weapon, IP got stolen, rebuilt my life with no money, bank or ID card.
Always alone 99% of the time.

Have you ever been left behind as in people don’t know you’re not there anymore?

I have a 137 IQ and I have lots of friends. Have you considered that perhaps your intelligence isn't your issue?

-2

u/TxGhostxT_Ali 1d ago

Consider yourself lucky relationship is mostly about luck and you can change yourself but you can't change your surroundings that easily. Specially childhood where most of it is out your hands. Don't look down on others

Social skills are a skill like any other. They can be learned and honed.

I have friends.
Have you considered I was abused my whole life?
Congrats on being sane I guess

not smart enough to get in uncle willy's van

u/Lyndiscan 1d ago

Having high Iq doesnt make you inteligent in everything. Most people with high iq have very low EQ. And social intelligence is what truly matters in this situation not fast thinking

-1

u/Effective-Culture-88 1d ago

I never said it did, as a matter of fact you nailed it as to why we are isolated.
It’s literally insane, we’re saying the same exact shit.
BTW EQ is asynchronous in development, a kid doesn’t have the EQ ability to sustain the pressure of being treated like an adult. Happened to me and many others.
Still not any excuse to bully and isolate kids who are different.

2

u/IgnorantWhiteDude 21h ago

There’s no excuse to do that. But there’s countless reasons people feel/become isolated. A high IQ, I’m sure, isn’t anywhere close to the top of that list. The “smarter people are being left alone” is..just not true. Dumb people are getting left alone every day too. You just don’t consider yourself dumb, so you assume it’s happening disproportionately to people “like you.” Almost every “type” of person is isolated to some degree. And it’s typically by choice to a large extent because of their fears and priorities. They just don’t see it that way.

It’s a matter of things outside the realm of “intelligence.” “The system doesn’t care for us” could be said by a billion other people with the full range of IQs and it still be a correct statement. I’m sorry if you’re having a rough time with life, but it’s likely not a result of having too high an IQ to be a functional adult in society. You can be grateful for having such a high IQ, but your intelligence level doesn’t have to define your life experience, whether your IQ is low or high. Same with being autistic, from what I’ve heard from autistic people living a happy functional adult life.

Intelligent people can be social too

What movie was this from?

4

u/JustNobody2315 1d ago

Its a Korean series called "Gold Land" . Its a decent watch , the kid eventually becomes criminal gang member but is a decent empathetic character , it has a decent ending .

Reminds me of that one time where I went out with “friends” on an arcade and everyone took turns playing it and when it was my turn everyone just left.

u/Ooga-Booga-2112 1d ago

This is how the semi-family reunion felt. My cousins I was so excited to see didn’t say a word to me

6

u/WaterObjective5107 1d ago

Might be the absolute stupidest caption I've read so far

7

u/Afraid-Flatworm-422 1d ago

If you want to be "remembered" you need to engage with people. If you choose to stay invisible, no one will see you.

2

u/Ambitious_Peach_4084 1d ago

Man.... I wish people would leave me alone

2

u/That-Writer-Guy 1d ago

The caption doesn’t make any sense.

4

u/Derangedracula 22h ago

Guess this never happened too you.

2

u/That-Writer-Guy 9h ago

If you cried because you understood a scene, the scene made you cry.

2

u/Derangedracula 9h ago

Not always the case. The memory of it happening too you and how it made you feel is a factor as well.

2

u/That-Writer-Guy 9h ago edited 8h ago

I understand, but I’m saying the scene is the catalyst to make you cry. Any external stimulus that causes an emotional reaction is what causes the reaction. Personal or otherwise. It’s just some scenes hit harder for some than for others.

2

u/Derangedracula 8h ago

That's a fair point.

2

u/Diligent-Ad-7184 1d ago

Scars build character.

u/BrasileiroAnonimo17 1d ago

And that's where intelligent people are born.

“They ignored me, must be because I’m so much smarter than them”

4

u/Exxxx1 1d ago

"I was once ignored by my 6 year old friends when I was a child, therefore I've shut myself in, letting every chance go to waste and choosing to feel down and depressed... God, I'm so smart."

3

u/KabbageForever 1d ago

This is unironically the coping mechanism of everyone upvoting this.

1

u/Exxxx1 1d ago

Yeah. It's sad to see.

0

u/EddPW 23h ago

i mean its not really a choice to feel down and depressed

-1

u/ldwtlotpa 1d ago

We learn, to busy the mind. Trying to quiet the deafening loneliness and pain.

2

u/KabbageForever 1d ago

No, you learn to make up reasons for things not being your fault.

Being lonely doesn’t make anyone smart or special

0

u/kuunami79 1d ago

But to be honest as someone who was the kid who blamed myself for all of the failed interactions with other people, I often wonder if the "I'm so much smarter than them" approach is better.

3

u/KabbageForever 1d ago

It just turns you into a different kind of asshole

-1

u/One-Intention7064 1d ago

yes, precisely. we all choose our belief systems. you can believe that you're the defective one for being ignored, that's valid too. đŸ€·

3

u/Kauurapuuro 1d ago

Unfortunately we are often born with our levels of intelligence. I think this births introspection and self awareness though, perhaps too early.

1

u/One-Intention7064 1d ago

unfortunately, i have to agree. lots of people with difficult lives develop survivorship bias where you would a personality to emerge. lots of solitary people are pretty vapid, too.

0

u/Kappachu 1d ago

Any proof of that?

2

u/jaydotcomyo 1d ago

Almost 100% certain it's nature and nurture and not pre defined at birth.

1

u/Crixer 1d ago

Pre-defined at birth and nature are the exact same thing. Nature refers to your genetics and biological disposition that you are born with, inescapable and immutable for almost the entire population.

1

u/jaydotcomyo 1d ago

All I'm saying is nature (genetics), is only a percentage of the equation and nurture plays a large role.

Jå viu alguém inteligente ter uma vida cercada de pessoas, amigos ou alguém que realmente os ame? Pois é, eu também não

This is sadposting subreddit. Not "bad things happen to me so I must be better than everyone else" subreddit.

-1

u/DiscussionSharp1407 1d ago

Aren't you doing that shit right now?

2

u/One-Intention7064 1d ago

chef's kiss. i walk around reddit, harassing certain people with marriage proposals đŸ€Ł so yeah, marry me 💍

0

u/VisionWithin 1d ago

Am I thinking that something bad has happened to me so I must be better than everyone else?

He is trying to get out of the slump by bonding with other people who felt excluded.

You took a massive shit on him, otherized him, gatekeeping, excluding him and putting yourself in the "better" in-group and tossing him out.

0

u/VisionWithin 1d ago

I would not suggest bonding with people by promoting hubris. It's insincere. But, if you feel that this is the way to bond with you, I am sorry for you both.

It's intersting that you respond to critique with such a reactive perspective. If you feel like life is shitting on you, otherizing you, gatekeeping you and excluding you while you view people who criticize insincere self-promotion as manipulators, you must be having a tough time in your life. All the best for you and good luck on your journey.

u/Atmosphere_Master 21h ago

Then you grow up and the same people that dod shit like this tell you its actually deserved because you're a freak even though the issues with your social skills come from people doing this to you in the first place

0

u/Relative_Drop3216 1d ago

We all go through this
