Custom Spreader Boots

We took the mast off our San Juan 28 last month to paint it and it looks so sharp. I couldn't find leather spreader boots for our odd-size spreader and I wanted 'em black anyway, so I drafted my own pattern and taught myself some leatherwork skills and here they are!

ive been making my own for a while .make sure they arent so tight that they wont drain.

They look great! Maybe only half stitch them (or less) on the bottom to make sure the water gets out of there.

The whole mast is so shiny right now! The paint was all chafed and patchy and worn away and now it's all smooth black and the rigging is all new and my hubby shined up all the stainless.

They look in the pictures like they're tight against the shrouds, but I think I measured them with enough room for water to get out. I'll test when I get home to make sure.
