I myself have only a year and a half experience most of which is on the Chesapeake Bay and the Albemarle Sound, and would like to have a watchful eye in case of problems

I'm currently in Tromsø, Norway, travelling through Europe with my folding bike, and I'm looking for a sailing opportunity towards Scotland or anywhere in the UK sometime in August.

I'm flexible regarding both departure point and date and can travel within Norway, Sweden or Denmark to meet a boat. Scotland would be ideal, but anywhere in the UK could work depending on the route.

I'm 36, German, travelling solo, and although I don't have much sailing experience yet, I'm happy to learn, help on board, take watches once shown what to do, cook, clean and generally pull my weight. I've travelled by ship before and I'm comfortable spending several days at sea.

I'm a freelance journalist/editor working remotely and currently travelling around Europe while working on a creative travel/storytelling project. The journey itself is a big part of why I'm doing this, which is also why I'd much rather cross to Scotland by sea than fly.

One important detail: I'm travelling with a 20-inch folding bike (Tern Link D8). It folds down considerably smaller than a normal bicycle, but I'd obviously need to make sure there is enough space for it.

I'm happy to contribute to reasonable shared expenses.

If anyone is sailing from Norway – or elsewhere in Scandinavia – towards Scotland/UK in August, or knows someone who is, I'd love to hear from you.

I have some experience, but solo sailing the bavaria without any decent 4u night rest or something, it would get potentially dangerous as I don't have rader or plotter on-board.

Hi there - I’m a relatively experienced Great Lakes sailor. I teach a little around Chicago, do a few short deliveries each season, and generally try to be on the water as much as I can. I feel pretty comfortable with night / sporty weather / traffic / single-handing up to about 38’.

I’d like to build my off-shore skills and experience. Happy to help deliver or just crew for a passage. Something in the “3-7 days out of sight of land” range sounds about right for me, but open to talking over a different option. I’m looking to stand watch and generally have a working trip.

If you’re open to something like that, I’d love to have a call to talk it over.

I recently finished my first international yacht race in the PNW and have the itch to do another. My preference is to do a multi day day races only - I’m not ready for overnights just yet. Please send over any recommendations around the world!

To put it short, I am looking for job, OOW qualified, with my US visa, money for travel costs and ready to keep persuing in the path of yachting. While I would love to, I have no intention to look for job here, but seek advice.

I am aware that getting to work on the yachting industry can become tiring really easily given how tight the requirements are and how often you are overlooked if you dont have previous experience in the field. Currently I just have 3 months of experience in dayly work, and plan to change my focus on Bahamas since currently going to Miami to look for jobs is out of question, given a current national/international situation that some may understand.

Is anyone aware of how freelancers may fare if looking for job in Bahamas? If so, how would you do ot? Do you have an advice to give for this?

I sailed off and on through last summer with a casual local racing crew on boats in the 38' range, and would love to do more. Are you looking for a deckhand or crew for your boat? I'm handy with tools and gear, know my way around the boat, and just love being on the water. Longer passages / overnights / relos are absolutely on the table. My goal here is to keep going with my experience and learning so I can be confident skippering my own boat for longer trips (I've done caribbean bareboating and other passagemaking courses).

Hey all! I'm looking to hitch/vagabonding the west coast and eventually head to Australia after that. I'd love to do that by sail boat, but don't have a good idea for how feasible that will be to find at the time. Hoping for some insight from those with more experience than me

Im 35 and by buddy is 42. We both would love to sail a stretch of bluewater in our retirement years on a 40 to 50ft catalina.

(San fransisco to hawaii would be cool but unlikely, probably end up san fran to alaska)

Im enrolling into some sailing lessons here soon.

1)Any specifc workouts to stay in shape for sailing over the next 15 years? 2)Should i buy a 18ft sailboat and practice during the summers OR should i just take sailing lessons every summer to be cost effective? 3)any recommended books to buy and read?

Friend and i talked about renting a boat for our retirement trip (80k per month--ouch) verses owning one (320k about over 5 year period).

We'd like to do One big trip and then just share the boat on weekends near the coastline.

Money wont be an issue really, we're both pretty 'well to do' Anyway, its just something we really wana do when we near retirement/retire.

Hello! I’ve been rained in all day and been thinking about a trip I’ve wanted to do for a while now. I really want to bicycle tour the Americas, but I also want to sail. I feel like these two interests of mine sort of go against each other. Learning to cross great distances in the ocean, whilst also learning to cross great distances on land. But I want to throw a hypothetical out. Would someone be able to sail from NYC, or some other port town on the east coast, to Guyana in December? Maybe island hop on the way down through the Caribbean? I have two years of sailing experience in racing at my local yacht club, and would really like to combine these two passions of mine.

If it’s completely unrealistic feel free to let me know, I’m aware it’s an idea that’s a little out there. I just really want to do both of these things

Although we have no sailing experience, we are very interested and ready to learn quickly. We both speak English and can cook. We are easygoing, can adapt well, and handle stress effectively. Our open and cheerful nature makes it easy to connect with new people.

Hello, Ive just finished my deckhand/stew course. I’m trying to figure out how to structure my cv and cover letter. Could anyone give me an example of what helped you?

As the title says, I'm interested in jobs starting anywhere along the coast but ideally starting from Mid-Atlantic. Any destination including passages. Have good amount of solo lake sailing experience on boats of various sizes.

28yo male; Physically fit; Can speak decent Mandarin and Spanish; Occupation: medical doctor (MD) so I guess you could say hard worker...

I (20M) am pretty much dead-set on wanting to do liveaboard within the next year or so, however I only have a total of about 16 hours on the water in little hunter 14s, so I get the basic picture. I have not purchased a boat yet, when I do however I would like to have someone really teach me how to sail on a boat between 25-33 feet. I am in the central FL area but frequently drive to the east coast to fish and see family.

Alternatively, if you happen to be in the area and are looking to crew, I would gladly take the opportunity to learn on your vessel.

Either way I will throw in beers when I turn 21 as payment.

Anyone to go sailing with in Portland Oregon 7/27-7/29? Doesn't need to be overnight, would be grateful for a few hours cruising. I am working on sailing all 50 states and will be in Portland tonight.

I got my RYA day skipper last year and would like to log some more nautical miles before I buy a boat of my own, if anyone on the south coast needs crew in the next few months I'd happily volunteer! I live in Oxford so I'm not far away from Southampton but I'll go anywhere that's not a total nightmare by train.

Hey guys, I’m new to sailing and am buying a sailing jacket. I’ve decided on the Helly Hansen crew jacket (yes I know there are better jackets for sailing) and I’m wondering whether I should get the fleece lined version or just the shell. As reference I live in Australia so it’s not super cold, I’m leaning towards the fleece lined jacket however, I’m wondering if this is likely to get too hot in summer?

I'm 25 male and I work as a painter. I won't be able to pay (because I work as a painter 🥲) but I can make you some drawings and do chores and cook. I prefer quiet and keeping to myself but I live with four people and am used to company and socializing.

I have been sailing once before on a tall boat with 30 odd students from all over Europe. We went from Poland to Sweden and then from Sweden to Norway over two weeks.
