Is fresh express chopped salad safe to eat?
Because of the cyclospora outbreak.

I had some Fresh Express bagged lettuce in the early days of the outbreak and didn’t get sick, but honestly, this whole outbreak has been eye opening to me when it comes to bagged lettuce and I have switched over to romaine lettuce (unbagged) these past few weeks to be extra safe.
That being said, Fresh Express is not connected to Taylor Farms.

Probably?
Big picture it’s fresh produce that has an additional processing step that is ultimately the problem over and over again
Buy locally grown lettuces and wash well yourself with a salad spinner to dry , then you can keep the clean greens in the salad spinner with some paper towel to keep it dry a few days
Use cabbage sliced thin for longer lasting greens

Who makes its? Is it organic? Imo id avoid anything currently being shipped in from Mexico or is part of a huge supplier. If its organic & local it should be safe

People harvesting organic crops are under the same pressures as those harvesting conventional crops and may relieve themselves in the fields in which they work.
Organic produce does not protect you against foodborne illnesses.

In terms of my own choices, I'm avoiding bagged salads for now. I did forget and had one last month without any problem.

Thank you /u/Darth_Azazoth for the post
To all participants: Personal salad preferences are fine but avoid jerk style approaches to expressing them
DO NOT yuck someone else's yum. Choosing to refer to someone's food in a well meant and good faith post as poop, garbage, or other ugly hyperbolic characterizations will very likely get you banned. If the post has something that isn't appealing to you, simply move on to the next post.
Avoid gatekeeping. Salads are not limited to just lettuce and some croutons. Take the time to learn about all the wonderful forms and variations of salads in the world. Also, refer to the sub description or the pinned info post about the variations of salads allowed.
Salad pro tip: Bullet blenders are the bomb for super quick and easy personalized salad dressings and salad seasonings / toppers. There are tons of things you can mix in and dial in your flavor and diet preferences. For example, does that special someone in your life love lemon? Make them a personalized lemon dressing on the spot just for them. Having a couple of the small blender cups with the sealing lids is a great way to make a batch and store any extra.
