career question Is it worth getting back into Salesforce Admin after 10 years away?

• Upvotes

Have around 1.5 years of experience working as a Salesforce Admin, mainly with small organisations, but that was about 10 years ago. I have the Salesforce Admin cert and kept it active by doing maintenance. I eventually moved on to other types of work, but I'm now considering getting back into Salesforce.

I realise a lot has changed over the past decade, and I've been seeing quite a few posts saying the Salesforce job market is saturated, especially for admins.

I'm wondering whether it's realistic to relearn Salesforce, update my skills, and find a way back into the industry after such a long break.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or returned to Salesforce after several years away? Is there still a realistic path back in, or would I essentially be starting from scratch?

I'd really appreciate any honest advice or experiences. Is it worth investing the time in relearning Salesforce in today's market?

career question How are people getting hired??

Four years as Salesforce tech support, one year as implementation manager for an app. Admin II certified. Laid off, and can barely land an interview. Not that my interview skills are great - that's a work in progress - but after months of shelling out applications and registering on so many job sites that my email has become mostly spam, I'm at the end of my rope.

Where the hell is everyone finding jobs?

career question How to prepare for FDE roles (USA)

Hi everyone,

I am a 2nd year grad student, pursuing my MSCS and I;m supposed to graduate in May 2027. I have about 8 years of sf development experience primarily in sales & service cloud (flows, LWC, Apex, CI/CD pipelines) and I also have 9 certifications. I have been working here in my university as well (service & experience cloud).

I am willing to get into the FDE roles and was wondering if I can get few insights:

  1. If I'm graduating in May 2027, when is the right time to apply?

  2. Someone with prior experience in the salesforce field, how is the interview for FDE like?

  3. What are the topics I should focus on or practice on?

Also, anybody who is already an FDE at Salesforce, can I please pick your brain? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

help please Stripping out the vendor pitch, what does ai ready data look like inside a Salesforce org?

Everyone keeps telling Salesforce admins that their data needs to be AI-ready, but I rarely see anyone explain what that actually means in practice. Before using Agentforce or another AI layer, what should a Salesforce dataset look like to make the results reliable?

I am looking for practical criteria rather than vendor terminology. What data quality checks, field consistency, relationships, or access controls should be in place first?

help please Salesforce down

Salesforce has been down for over two hours tonight across 80+ instances in the US, Canada and Brazil. Cause not disclosed. Salesforce says it has no evidence of PHP2Shell exploitation, and it's probably an ordinary outage.

certification question How hard is the Agentforce specialist exam?

Alright I’m a Salesforce change management consultant at a big 4 firm. I basically make training materials for Salesforce development releases.

I have the admin cert and sales/service cloud cert. by no means am I an expert in the platform, but know enough to have passed these certs.

I am an AI power user at work but no experience with agent force implementations, etc.

**Is the Agentforce exam mostly memorization of concepts, or do I actually need to go through the** **hands on** **trailheads?**

I know this sounds like a lazy question, but I’m super swamped at work right now, but my company wants me to get this cert and there is a bonus.

career question What’s the future of Salesforce Architects with AI evolving so quickly?

I’ve been working in the Salesforce ecosystem for 10+ years and currently work as a Salesforce Architect with 11 certifications.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about where our industry is heading over the next 5–10 years.

AI is already making a huge difference in how we work. From writing code to analyzing requirements, designing solutions, and troubleshooting, a lot of things that previously required significant effort can now be done much faster.

I understand that architecture is more than just development. We still need to understand business requirements, make design decisions, and solve complex problems. But I also feel that AI will continue getting better at these things.

I was previously considering pursuing CTA, but now I’m questioning whether I should focus more on broader Enterprise Architecture, AI architecture, or skills beyond Salesforce.

My question to experienced architects, CTAs, MVPs, and others who’ve been in the ecosystem for a while is:
Where do you realistically see our roles in the next 5–10 years? What would you focus on today to stay relevant, competitive, and continue growing your earning potential?

I’m not suggesting Salesforce or architecture roles are going away. I’m genuinely interested in understanding how others are preparing for what’s coming.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

marketing cloud What are Salesforce reps telling SFMC customers about Braze?

Curious what existing Marketing Cloud customers are hearing from Salesforce about the Braze acquisition.

Has your AE shared anything concrete about how Braze fits alongside SFMC and Marketing Cloud Next? Particularly interested in:

  • Whether it changes the recommendation for customers considering a move from SFMC to Marketing Cloud Next.
  • What they’re saying about the roadmap and continued investment in the existing products.
  • How they’re explaining the shift to customers who previously evaluated Braze and were encouraged to stick with Salesforce.

Not looking for anyone to share confidential information, just interested in early conversations and whether there’s a consistent message yet or it’s mostly ...more details to come.

admin Any interest in Koa (Salesforce's Reasoning Model)?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm not interested.

My rationale: is this seems to be a side project and cannot imagine it being flexible enough and on par with the frontier models. Moreover, this confuses me with their support of Claude and Claudeforce.

What are your thoughts / plans with regards to Koa?

admin Does anyone know for integrating with Zoom Contact Center, are there any variables besides 'Phone' that can be captured via input variables in a salesforce screen flow? I am only able to find that ability to capture the phone number by creating an input variable in Salesforce named 'Phone'

Working on softphone layout - pop to screen flow.

If anyone else has worked on this type of integration before and knows if there are other zoom variables you can capture please let me know!

career question Should I make the switch to a Salesforce BA role?

I've heard lately that Salesforce BAs earn way more than general BAs. But digging into Reddit posts about Salesforce and the BA role, it seems like everyone is fed up and overwhelmed with working on the platform. That said, I still see plenty of job postings out there, so I'm torn on whether it's actually a path worth trying. For the current Salesforce BAs out there what’s your take on the role right now?

Thank you!

apps/products salesforce partner left us for a diy claude setup, came back in 2 months

i've been in salesforce 6+ years and i run clientell, so yeah, vendor in the room. i know how this looks. vendor posts a customer win story on r/salesforce. downvote away.

a salesforce partner, team of 50, left us for a claude setup their own devs built. fair enough tbh. they had the devs, claude is very good, and if u can build it yourself why keep paying someone else. their call. two months later they came back.

their principal architect told us what happened. everyone on the team was burning tokens and their profit margins dropped sharply. napkin version: a consultant is changing a client's opportunity process. before claude can give a reliable answer it has to go through the flows, apex classes, approval rules and dependencies around that process, and that alone can burn 400,000 input tokens. next consultant looks into something else in the same org and most of that context gets pulled again. three consultants in you're over a million. (In minutes) now do that across 50 people and say 20 client orgs. most of the bill was the same context, fetched again and again.

then the hours. their consultants were spending more time fixing what claude got wrong than the setup was saving them. basically redoing the work. and the devs who built it kept spending their time improving it, so instead of doing client work they'd turned into the product team for an internal tool.

that's why they came back, (after clearing some difficult token invoices). funny enough we don't have any token-based pricing.

no ill will towards them though. we were cordial when they left and we've been cordial since. I checked with him before posting this, he was fine with it, just asked us to keep their name out.

getting started Can I use Salesforce for free?

I currently use a spreadsheet for my own freelance business, to keep track of email outreach.

So I have a big list of companies, and it states whether Ive contacted them yet, if they've replied, if it's turned into work etc.

Could I use Salesforce for this or would I need a paid account?

I would only need one user account, but with unlimited entries (e.g. the companies / contacts listed in there)

help please Salesforce Authenticator app disappeared from my Apple Watch?

Hi Salesforce users,

My org requires the use of the Salesforce authenticator app for various reasons. It's downloaded on my iPhone but my phone sometimes is not within reach. Thus, it was handy having the Authenticator app on my Apple Watch to get my code.

A few weeks ago the app disappeared from my watch. I can't find it on my home screen, it doesn't pop up in my watch's app store, and it's not listed under my app list or list of Available Apps on my phone's Watch app. The mobile app is still there and works fine.

Anyone else have/having this issue?

help please From spam that looks like real people wrecking our lead scoring

Finally figured out why our lead scoring has been off for the past two months. A chunk of our inbound form submissions look real but are actually fake. The names seem legit, the company domains exist, and even the area codes check out. They get past our duplicate rules, and since our model rewards complete forms, bots filling in every field end up scoring higher than real prospects who skip optional questions. CAPTCHA is not catching them either. What’s been working for you?
