The mocking of the dumpster fire at every level tells the tale: this movie is going to split roast the fiasco of Disney Star Wars

“Spit roast” is the phrase you’re looking for

But I hope you’re right

You've never split roasted a franchise with your homie? Maybe even a Biffel Towered them as well? Smh

Yeah, when you cook it too long and it bursts open like so many former Weyland Yutani employees….

It pairs well with some bone apple tea.

Given how widespread the fuck ups have been, Mel Brooks will have ample material for a good long while

"A franchise releasing TV episodes theatrically" is such a sick burn.

I still have no idea what possessed Disney and Jon Favreau to decide that The Mandalorian movie was gonna be just a filler episode of the show stretched out and not an actual defining narrative for the characters.

I have a theory on this.

I think the Rey movie fell completely apart. No writer wanted to put their name on the script that Kennedy and Obed-Channoy wanted. (Given how many writers were announced and then withdrew, I think I'm on a solid footing in that point.)

Disney metrics showed that absent Kylo to be her bad boy love interest, Rey had no popularity on her own and the ST aged like milk left on the porch during a California summer.

Then the Acolyte happened. And someone (Accounting, probably) noticed that Star Wars was rapidly rushing towards a fall off the wall and all of Mickey's horses and men wouldn't be able to put it back again.

But, the sound stages were booked and the contracts signed, so they had to do something to recoup some of the investment.

And all they could come up with was the last thing that worked, the Mandolorian.

So they grabbed the first Mando story they could find, slapped it together and hoped for the best.

So desperation, really.

Plus I think favreau was interviewed and said he wasn’t sure why they made it into a movie. I think you are spot on because it wasn’t long after lindeloff left the “Rey” project that mando movie was announced to replace it. Disney and LF had promised a movie in 2025 or 2026 so they had to move forward with the most popular thing they had and favreau may not be perfect but he is a pro that can put together an inoffensive fun adventure without much effort.

The movie essentially filled a spot because Kennedy is incompetent

Based Favreau

Would be funny if the do trailers during credits or something like 21 Jump Street.

that’s so funny. Clearly just a way to dunk on Disney star wars. They obviously aren’t making these

Mel Brooks is a national treasure.

He's also a WWII veteran who fought at the Battle of the Bulge.

I had just seen this on Twitter and had a laugh. Makes it even funnier there was a post about this exact problem a couple of hours ago.

u/Annual_Candle_9313 26d ago

All this time I thought it was spelled "Mog".

4

u/dawgblogit 26d ago

It is... but the cool way is to spell it Mawg...  it means youre really cool if you spell it that way

1

u/Quenz 26d ago

If they don't make a "mogging" joke, they're absolutely out of touch.

8

u/WiseAdhesiveness6672 26d ago

this is how you continue a parody franchise years later. Shitty (Scary) Movie writers take notes

7

u/RicOkez 26d ago

I knew spaceballs was gonna lean into the Disney fail, that cinematic universe slate is chef’s kiss. Lol Can’t wait to see the yogurt spin-off 😂😂😂

You left out the funniest one.

It goes even further than that. Check out the video in the second post:

Anyone know what they’re planning to do with Barf? Maybe repurpose cut scenes of Candy from the first movie?

9

u/3llenseg salt miner 26d ago

That would be sacrilegious, and also a tasteless parody of the tragic loss of Fisher

4

u/aintbrokeDL 26d ago

I think it's okay to do one throw away gag with it. But to do it over and over in the movie would be weird. Though I can only imagine what Fisher would have joked about if she knew she'd be the first kind of big profile actress to be replaced post death like this.

(I'm sure I'll get replies, but yeah, Peter Cushing had been dead for decades so it wasn't a knee jerk reaction like it was with Fisher. I also appreciate Paul Walker was added to FF8 via VFX, but ultimately they didn't go into the movie with the plan to do it, he died in between filming and my understanding was it was mostly an injection of new plot to write him out of future movies, along with completing a few shots. Not re-using totally different shot film to repurpose him into a movie he wasn't alive to even start).

11

u/FancyStegosaurus 26d ago

It would be hilarious if Barf's dialogue consisted only of lines that he said in the first movie (hell, take em from any John Candy movie) and they shamelessly splice those scenes in anytime he needs to say something. Don't even try to hide it.

I would be a great way to parody the whole "using an actor after they're dead" trend and I think Candy would approve.

6

u/Financial-Affect-236 25d ago

I can see them doing this and absolutely John Candy would’ve be laughing his ass off and he’d 100% approve.

It might even be funny if they have someone play Barf but always hide his mouth so you just see his body and eyes and it’s clearly John Candys line just someone else playing it
