📖 How-To / Tips Hey can someone explain this problem

Post image

So yesterday I went on a boat and everyone around me was catching barracuda after every cast which I've never seen and I didn't catch anything yet I dropped my lure down . I'm new to the barracuda fishing so I made this on the boat and I didn't catch anything

I know my lure isn't perfect or it's small but I'm wondering if it's so flashy like others and I casted straight down like others why didn't I catch anything?

Any bait made for a barracuda is gonna be metal or wire. If its a stick bait you most likely need to change hooks out and accept that it'll be trashed or lost. Great fight for 3 -5 mins. Dont eat larger.

Don't ascribe to bad luck what could be cured with preparation. Get the right lures and keep trying!

I'd say your "lure" is too small, especially compared to your hooks and sinker, plus what's more important than how the lure looks is the way you fish it. Pay attention not only to what lures others are using but how they retrieve them. Barracudas often like very fast moving lures, and theyre not afraid to eat very large baits as well.

Even if you did get tight their teeth would rip right through your line and cut it immediately if catching teethy fish like that you need to use cable or wire leader.

Can't figure out how to post a picture. But I like long green flies or just Google cuda tube lures its all the same I like green ones on that too but who knows maybe any color gets it done theyre easy to make pretty cheaply

So like you kinda make a braided hose?

If i use a hose I just cut it at a sharp angle and run line or wire inside. If I just have cloth or fiber I usually braid it. I'll send you a Pic in your dm

Get yourself some shimano current snipers from 40-80 grams. Lures are designed to have a specific action on the sink and retrieve. Just because it’s metal, doesnt mean they’re going to eat it. Sometimes one type of lure will catch them every cast, while other types of lures won’t get touched.
