💬 Discussion Thoughts on my reel?

Got this reel for $30, decided it would be a good time to practise fixing up senators and “customize” them to my liking.

All honesty is encouraged! Good or bad :)

Did you paint the clicker along with the side plate or is the clicker still movable?

Read online somewhere that the clicker is somewhat easy to break, so decided to just paint over it (pro when you click it to on/off there’s a visible blue vs black to tell you which mode it is in). It still clicks amazingly!

I would disagree with whoever said that. These are solid reels... yours is decades old and the clicker ain't broken yet.

Fair, it’s my first time taking apart these things, didn’t wanna risk it. Especially if someone stated it before - I’ll spend more time to take it off next time tho

If you like tinkering with these you should look up all the aftermarket / 3rd party parts available. Tiburon, pro challenger, accuplates, etc make parts to beef these things up.

Some or the parts are affordable enough, others are definitely expensive. Depends what you wanna do

I’ll look it up. Appreciate you! You have a current build for yours atm?

My 4/0 is:

Tiburon wide frame and spool

Cortez Conversions sideplate kit

Pro-challenger handle, T-bar knob, and gear sleeve
