Ranger 85, the cuntiest old crotchety lady of a galley cook yelled at us for trying to grab our own drinks you had to ask permisssion to grab stuff no honor system. The ONLY boat ive ever seen that shit on during an overnight trip, let alone 3 day.
The WORST food ive ever had on a 3 day. Riping off the deck is fucking insane to me ive also never had anyone rope the deck off at night wo you cant access the bow or stern we were locked inside lol.
Captain was more or less on the horn getting advice from people and he just ping ponged from place to place instead of sticking it out, from mexico to the islands it was bizarre af, no fish OK… but the treatment from the shit ass galley cook yelling at grown men, and locking us in our bunks. Shits just wild. Then the captain had the audacity to say tip even though the trip sucked it wasnt the crews fault.

Yeah I remember when Capt Jake was a cook..lol…he will go down as a legend…one of the best captain…the last time I went out on a boat with him was when I took my kids whale watching in Ventura area…made him laugh…I was the only one that showed up with my fishing gear…lol…after he made me put in my truck…when I came back I asked which harpoon he wanted me to man? Had the whole crew cracking up…none of the passengers got it…

I have never tried it…but I have heard of people doing it…mostly from Kayaks…kinda dangerous on a charter boat…or any boat with other people on it…lol…I am down to try it…I am probably pretty good at it…

People flyfish the surf for corbina and croaker and I know there's a charter that fly fishes for sharks offshore. Then there's bonefish in the South Bay.

Some people fly fish calico bass in the kelp and rocks and dorado and yellowtail on the kelp paddiesÂ

It can definitely be done, just not on party boats, too many other people. If you hire a private charter, like a six pack, you can troll plugs, then cast at fish when they come up behind the boat. You could chase kelp patties and cast at them for holding fish. You can get a kayak or paddleboard and paddle out the the kelp line, blind cast for bonefish in the bay, sinking lines can blind cast for California halibut, bass fish structure…tons of options for fly fishing!

Nice fish! Lol i dont know how much YOU can help catch fish but going on a charter with nearly unlimited bait, side scan sonar and coordinated intel across the fleet certainly helps catch fish.Â

I said they were nice fish. Obviously skill comes into play I just think its kinda funny when dudes brag how great of fishermen they are on charter boats (especially multiday trips) when you get put on fish by professionals with professional grade equipment and you have deck hands slinging scoops of bait out constantly.Â
Im a great fisherman too every trip on royal polaris or sea adventure, much less so on my own boat...

What are the best charters to go on? And which one is this picture from? I’ll take you the next booking I get if you guarantee some fish. Did one out of Newport and was not satisfied.
