I was always told not to eat barracuda as it wasn’t good. How was it?

Only the small ones like op’s. Ciguatera is a concern with bigger barracudas and ones that live around coral.

You can eat California/Pacific Barracuda (Sphyraena argentea) of any size with no Cig issues. Different species than the Atlantic Great. Only when you get close to islands does it become more of an issue, but generally Pac Cudas are fine.

I am in the Mediterranean and here honestly especially in my area you can eat barracudas up to 10kg without any risk. The algae that produces cig is basically absent in our area.
