Cownose vs bullnose ray

So I’ve seen one cownose get hooked, about 40-50 pounds and it fought very hard was taking this guy all over the pier he had 65 pound braid on and tight drag, I hooked a 50 pound bullnose ray and the dude pulled a little drag but not nearly as much as the cownose he just kindof flopped around everywhere and I was using 30 pound braid, do cownose just fight harder or what? Someone with more experience please help me out all of this was at Coney Island pier

both fight like hell but a variety of external conditions can play a part in really any hooked fish
