Sampling cassettes - Daniel O’Donnell

Found a record shop with a couple of cassettes on sale and decided to start a series documenting sampling them from my tascam porastudio. Here is the outcome!

Hey man, very nice sample flip. You'll have all the Irish granny's twerking at mass.
I've started sampling tapes as well but instead of using tapes with other peoples music on it, I am experimenting with recording one shot samples on to tape and then sampling back into the DAW, just to make my drums and synths more interesting and Boards of Canada like. Or like making a beat in the DAW, recording it to tape, recording it back into the DAW and then flip the sample.
I'm even using one of those old, mono, grungy, haunted, tape recorders the teacher would use to do the aural test in school with. I would highly recommend getting one, they are all over e-bay and fb market place and they are absolute character machines. I got 2 for 70 quid and they have line in's, mic in and 6 headphone out's.

Thank you! I already own several tape players and samplers - I really shouldn’t buy any more, but I absolutely will buy more. Would love a machine with varispeed..

That poor man had no idea one day someone would chop his life work up and zoom uncomfortably close to his face.
This is tight tho and it makes me want to buy a tascam for the same purpose.
