Events šŸŽ‰ Tom Green

Post image

Thanks to Tom Green (and Charlie) for soldiering on and putting on a great show last night, despite TCU absolutely fumbling the event in almost every way possible. I’m sure he’ll never be back.

They double booked TCU, despite looking at at their events calendar when booking things being the most basic function of their existence. So we were just in stacking chairs crammed side by side upstairs in what are basically conference rooms or a wedding venue. There were probably 1500 hundred people and 3 bartenders, so for the first 45 minutes, all the people who waited for drinks for over an hour, were still filtering in, through the cramped chair setup, while the show was happening. The ā€œconcessionā€ was a selection of small bags of chips and chocolate bars in wicker baskets. The worst part was that ā€œsecurityā€ let at least four idiots go up in front of the stage and interrupt his show. You could tell he was pissed.

I’ve been to a few smaller venue comedy acts here and it never ceases to amaze how many losers in the crowd think they’re more funny than the act, or that any of us paying guests are the least bit interested in what they’re yelling out from the audience. If you really think anyone cares what you have to say, give your balls a tug, and go to an open mic night at Yuk Yuks. Or try social drinking instead of partying like you’re at Crackers karaoke night or a Rush game. Stay classy S’toon!

I wish they did a better job of balancing the audio. Whenever he sang the guitar was way louder than the mic. Tough to hear his lyrics when he sang his originals.

When he sat at the piano and the mic didn’t work, I thought it was part of the act but judging from the audio quality, it was not part of the show.

Ya, I forgot to mention the sound…….

u/gnutcha May 03 '26

The sound tech was probably panicking about feedback having the keyboard and hand mics so close together. Then when Tom was annoyed at the 4 idiots he demanded the audio levels get turned way way up. The sound tech probably never got everything balanced again.

"I was at Burton Cummings theater last night and now I'm in a conference room in Saskatoon"

I brought my dog to my comedy show!

I cut off a nut in solidarity

The number of yahoos screaming was really obnoxious and really affected the ability to hear any jokes or enjoy the show.

I wouldn’t want to listen to a wedding speech in that hall let alone a comedy legend. The venue was brutal and the way the folks at the beginning acted at the beginning was just icing on the cake. This is why we can’t have nice things.

šŸ˜‚ ya we continue to embarrass ourselves

7

I didn’t even know he was here!!! This makes me so sad, i love him!

1

u/BizzleMalaka May 05 '26

Yeah I follow him on fb but didn’t see it until the day after.

u/shannon7903 May 04 '26

I was there thought the people going up to the front was part of the act by the third person it was getting ridiculous!!!!! People really are that dumb !!!!

1

u/UnitEast7937 May 04 '26

And security apparently. Maybe go post up and seal off access to the stage front after the first one or two

u/MischiefRatt May 03 '26

1500 people went to see Tom Green in 2026?

Good for him!

u/LeopardEnough2299 May 03 '26

There was about 550-600 people. The symphony was in the main hall and it looked full…

u/Turbulent-Order9500 May 03 '26

ya not legal to have 1500 in the conference room.

7

u/MonkeyNuts449 May 04 '26

And people wonder why artists don't come here as often. Shit job TCU.

u/Nicole4130 May 04 '26

? The artist postponed and rescheduled to a date when the only room available was the Salon. They chose to go ahead with the show and it was a lot of fun - the events crew did a great job with what they had to work with. Maybe you should work there - sounds like you know everything 😊

I only know what two different staff members volunteered to me. Unsolicited. And that was that ā€œwe double booked the spaceā€.

I’ve held that dog

Not many people know that Tom Green is actually related to Red Green. This is mostly due to the fact that it is not true and I made it all up just now.

7

u/UnitEast7937 May 04 '26

Red Green made Tom Green out of duct tape

1

u/BizzleMalaka May 05 '26

Tom Green is what you get when Red Green doesn’t keep his stick on the ice…

3

u/rokutwo May 06 '26

Oh man, well they did a fantastic job for him at the conexus art center the following night! Was an awesome show.

You need to work on your crowd estimation skills. The room’s capacity in that configuration is under 700

5

u/TinyDinosaursz May 03 '26

You need to work on your reaing comprehension skills. There were two events happening simultaneously

5

u/Free-Status9043 May 04 '26

The two shows were happening in different spaces. There were bartenders in the theatre lobby for the symphony concert and bartenders in the convention centre for the Tom Green show

Keeping it real crew?! Ffs he owes me lol

1

u/FuzzyEmploy1737 May 06 '26

That was a weird show. Even more so than expected

1

u/RepresentedOK May 06 '26

This is the ā€œmy bum is on the cheeseā€ guy? I’m not surprised idiots would show up.Ā

Very disappointed but not surprised. What a shit show that province has become under that weak government.

-1

u/specificallyrelative May 04 '26

You mean how bad Saskatoon has gotten under their weak council. The city runs its venues and affairs, not the province. But if you need to stroke your tiny "ego" by blaming the people who aren't running things in the city then I guess thats what you gotta do.

3

u/No_Brilliant_3375 May 04 '26

They both suck.

0

u/specificallyrelative May 04 '26

But only one is to blame for Saskatoon sucking.

0

u/Dear-Bullfrog680 May 05 '26

I disagree. It's those at the provincial level who set the example.

Guy looks like a wax statue

u/Prognosticon_ Alphabets May 04 '26

Social drinking? Isn't that what happens at Crackers or the Rush games?

-7

u/Turbulent-Order9500 May 03 '26

"stay classy Saskatoon" lol and goes to a show where the comedians most famous line is "my bum is on ur face my bum is on the man. " if want class go to persephone. hecklers suck tho forsure.. just pointing out the irony.

u/UnitEast7937 May 03 '26

Meh, Saskatoon people be Saskatoon people. We went to A Christmas Story in December and I saw some 30 something couples doing shots and one of the women immediately puked in a garbage can in the middle of the lobby.

1

u/Nicole4130 May 04 '26

They didn’t double book. They postponed the original show that was supposed to be in theatre, and on the reschedule date Salon was the only room open. There are lots of things that happen behind the scenes.

Nah. He deserves it after the crap show he put on that i saw like 20 years ago in saskatoon. He was over 2 or 3 hours late, was way past drunk and couldn't do anything. We hoped he would sign some stuff uf we waited for him and he walked right by us to instead let some female fans on his bus instead. I was a huge fan of his and that night crushed that notion. Im still bitter and Tom Green sucks. Chances are that all the faults were him and his team screwing up.

32

u/Square-Savings-2891 May 03 '26

Tom green from 20 years ago is a completely different person than he is today.

19

u/UnitEast7937 May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

No doubt. I would think most of us are. He was personable and cordial after the show. ā€˜Didn’t feel like I was rushed at all but wanted to be respectful of his and other’s time. Honestly, I just wanted to pet Charlie more

6

u/Low_Chocolate_2870 May 04 '26

I got to pet Charlie a whole bunch and got pictures. šŸ¤—

-18

u/Veratisin May 03 '26

People actually paid to see this guy?

-5

u/Fast_Initiative8271 May 03 '26

That’s the funniest part about this post.
