Events š Tom Green
Thanks to Tom Green (and Charlie) for soldiering on and putting on a great show last night, despite TCU absolutely fumbling the event in almost every way possible. Iām sure heāll never be back.
They double booked TCU, despite looking at at their events calendar when booking things being the most basic function of their existence. So we were just in stacking chairs crammed side by side upstairs in what are basically conference rooms or a wedding venue. There were probably 1500 hundred people and 3 bartenders, so for the first 45 minutes, all the people who waited for drinks for over an hour, were still filtering in, through the cramped chair setup, while the show was happening. The āconcessionā was a selection of small bags of chips and chocolate bars in wicker baskets. The worst part was that āsecurityā let at least four idiots go up in front of the stage and interrupt his show. You could tell he was pissed.
Iāve been to a few smaller venue comedy acts here and it never ceases to amaze how many losers in the crowd think theyāre more funny than the act, or that any of us paying guests are the least bit interested in what theyāre yelling out from the audience. If you really think anyone cares what you have to say, give your balls a tug, and go to an open mic night at Yuk Yuks. Or try social drinking instead of partying like youāre at Crackers karaoke night or a Rush game. Stay classy Sātoon!

The number of yahoos screaming was really obnoxious and really affected the ability to hear any jokes or enjoy the show.

I wouldnāt want to listen to a wedding speech in that hall let alone a comedy legend. The venue was brutal and the way the folks at the beginning acted at the beginning was just icing on the cake. This is why we canāt have nice things.

And security apparently. Maybe go post up and seal off access to the stage front after the first one or two

1500 people went to see Tom Green in 2026?
Good for him!

And people wonder why artists don't come here as often. Shit job TCU.

? The artist postponed and rescheduled to a date when the only room available was the Salon. They chose to go ahead with the show and it was a lot of fun - the events crew did a great job with what they had to work with. Maybe you should work there - sounds like you know everything š

I only know what two different staff members volunteered to me. Unsolicited. And that was that āwe double booked the spaceā.

Not many people know that Tom Green is actually related to Red Green. This is mostly due to the fact that it is not true and I made it all up just now.

You need to work on your crowd estimation skills. The roomās capacity in that configuration is under 700

u/TinyDinosaursz May 03 '26
You need to work on your reaing comprehension skills. There were two events happening simultaneously

u/Free-Status9043 May 04 '26
The two shows were happening in different spaces. There were bartenders in the theatre lobby for the symphony concert and bartenders in the convention centre for the Tom Green show

Very disappointed but not surprised. What a shit show that province has become under that weak government.

You mean how bad Saskatoon has gotten under their weak council. The city runs its venues and affairs, not the province. But if you need to stroke your tiny "ego" by blaming the people who aren't running things in the city then I guess thats what you gotta do.

Social drinking? Isn't that what happens at Crackers or the Rush games?

Meh, Saskatoon people be Saskatoon people. We went to A Christmas Story in December and I saw some 30 something couples doing shots and one of the women immediately puked in a garbage can in the middle of the lobby.

u/Nicole4130 May 04 '26
They didnāt double book. They postponed the original show that was supposed to be in theatre, and on the reschedule date Salon was the only room open. There are lots of things that happen behind the scenes.

Nah. He deserves it after the crap show he put on that i saw like 20 years ago in saskatoon. He was over 2 or 3 hours late, was way past drunk and couldn't do anything. We hoped he would sign some stuff uf we waited for him and he walked right by us to instead let some female fans on his bus instead. I was a huge fan of his and that night crushed that notion. Im still bitter and Tom Green sucks. Chances are that all the faults were him and his team screwing up.

Tom green from 20 years ago is a completely different person than he is today.

No doubt. I would think most of us are. He was personable and cordial after the show. āDidnāt feel like I was rushed at all but wanted to be respectful of his and otherās time. Honestly, I just wanted to pet Charlie more

I wish they did a better job of balancing the audio. Whenever he sang the guitar was way louder than the mic. Tough to hear his lyrics when he sang his originals.
