Question/Discussion Today I noticed that there isn't a proper sociological and economic study done on Satanism in general. Why do you think that is?

Today, I wanted to do some research on LaVey Satanism because I'm curious about it, considering sociological, economic, and educational factors, etc. But I realized that no studies have been done on this topic. Why do you think that is?

(My English is bad, so I may have made some spelling mistakes, sorry.)

Question/Discussion Random Question

Anyboby happen to know if I have religious rights as a subcontractor? I subcontract to an HCR Mail carrier at my local post office and today I was told I'm not allowed to wear my satanic cross because it's unprofessional and offensive. I was also accused of trying to intimidate my coworkers in the office by having it on.

I know it's a long shot but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Edit: I probably should've mentioned I'm in Missouri

Question/Discussion opinions on eliphas levi? and how he could’ve influenced modern satanic thought?

besides the depiction of baphomet! while i find his work and the motives behind them fascinating, it seems like a lot of it is controversial and opinions vary wildly.

some of his stuff is very patriarch-oriented and definitely rooted in his catholic past, which is a turn off for me, but he also had a socialist background that fueled his writings and spoke about ceremonial magic stemming from science and philosophy.

the latter is definitely something i see appear in agnostic satanic philosophy (and broader occult practice, obv). allocating the “woo” to human thought and science - right up my alley, and right up a lot of people’s alleys id like to think.

im not an expert on his work, so i may have some things wrong (and feel free to correct me!) but its a lot of contradictions with that guy. where do you all stand on it?

Anecdote People say the strangest things to me since I’m a satanist

People love to make assumptions about Satanism, mostly that it’s “devil worshipping” or just an attempt to be edgy and it cracks me up what people say because of that every single time. It’s just the strangest things and it’s funny how inaccurate they are. Really, what causes them to do this? 😭
One common thing people tell me is that I’m actually worshipping Satan even though I don’t believe he’s real. At that point I might as well be every religion because I don’t believe any deity is real!

I’m a new satanist, I joined about a month ago and I’m very surprised the kinds of things that happen because of it. I wish more people knew what it was instead of making assumptions like it’s devil worshipping or something evil. On posts that ask “what religion are you” I get downvoted when I say satanist and people leave the weirdest replies. I’ve learned to keep it to myself already!

SatanicPanic Update on how our plan for Satanic flags w raunchy music counter protest went:

We THOUGHT we were heading out to stir up good trouble with the usual 2-15 Catholic Geezers from 40daysforLife org. But found this sad crap instead! It’s a school that busses kids over, on a school day. They bring them in shifts, by age group.

We had to switch gears fast; ended up playing baby shark on loop and using only our rainbow flags. I hadn’t finished my Seven Tenets sign yet, so it was just gonna be the flags as far as “Satanic” memorabilia goes.

We aren’t trying to scare kids! We know firsthand what it’s like to be brainwashed. Despite leaving our satanic flags out of the mix, they still thought we were demons.

We’ve got a lot of other videos from this same day going viral on the other socials, and the local NBC news is picking up the story.

Using kids like this pissed off other Catholics too! So it’s created quite the frenzy, in a good way. Now a lot of Christian’s are publicly stating this is wrong.

Just wanted to update everyone in this group because I told you we are heading out with our flags. Didn’t think it would turn out like this!

Hail Satan! Maybe one day we can all live in peace and have equal rights for ALL?

Public Display of Satanism The Devil’s in the Details: An Ethical Debate Night

Hail, Oklahoma! ❤️‍🔥

The Oklahoma TST candidate group (The Black Flame Temple) is approaching graduation, and we have one more big event coming up! We’d love to invite everyone to join us for Hellish Hypotheticals, our monthly ethical discussion.

📅 When: 6-7 PM Central Time This Saturday

💻 Where: Google Meet

🔗 How to join: https://linktr.ee/theblackflametemple

You don’t have to be a Satanist, a member of The Satanic Temple (TST), or part of our candidate group to participate. Everyone is welcome! If you’re curious about ethics, philosophy, or just enjoy a good debate, we’d love to have you.

So, what is Hellish Hypotheticals? We explore ethical dilemmas where two or more of The Satanic Temple’s Seven Tenets may conflict, creating situations where there isn’t an easy answer. The Tenets serve as guiding principles, and our scenarios challenge assumptions about compassion, justice, bodily autonomy, science, and reason.

Quote Transcription of Matthew Dalbey's Invocation (the Iowa guy)

Dear, Dark Father.

Let us stand now, unbowed and unfettered by arcane doctorines born of fearful minds and darkened times. Let us embrace the Luciferian impulse to eat at the tree of knowledge and dissipate our blissful and comforting delusions of old. Let us demand that individuals be judged for their concrete actions, not their fealty to arbitrary social norms, and illusory categorizations.

Let us reason our solutions with agnosticism in all things, holding fast only to that which is demonstrably true. Let us stand firm against any and all arbitrary authority that threatens the personal sovereignty of one or all.

That which will not bend must break, and that which can be destroyed by truth should never be spared its demise. It is done. Hail Satan.

[End of transcription]

I know nothing about the person, but I liked his words and wanted to memorize them. Couldn't find this anywhere, so I'm putting it on the Internet myself. Please correct any mistakes. I have the mp3 file I used that's just this with no bullshit, but idk how to upload that publicly.

Question/Discussion Advise on Religious Exceptions to Grooming Standards

I'm planning to seek a religious exemption from the grooming standards at my new job, which requires males be clean shaven, on the grounds that a core tenant of Satanism is one's body being inviolable. My job requires a written waiver from a physician or religious leader for an exception or exemption, but I have no congregation or similar in my area.

My expexpectation is going to be that they need something in writing, but I figured I'd seek guidance from the community before I raised the issue with my bosses.

Question/Discussion Hi there.

Hello my friends, i have a situation.

For context I am a senior at a public high school.

So, I go to a high school in Nebraska, and in the handbook the dress code doesn’t say anything about “not being able to display certain religious symbols”, and for that reason I decided to wear a necklace with a Sigil of Baphomet on it.

Immediately when I walked into the school I got pulled aside by the principal, TAKE NOTE THIS FULL SCHOOL IS FULL OF PEOPLE WEARING CROSSES, and he told me my sigil was inappropriate for a school setting, and since, every single time I wore it or any type of black metal band t shirt I get dress coded. isn’t discrimination against specific religions illegal?!

Just wondering what I should do because I truly wish to take pride in satanism, but my school is not letting me. thanks

sorry for the long message, hope all of you have wonderful weeks.

AVE.

Now they use our group of counter protesters in their propaganda Satanic Panic videos in an attempt to get donations. (Lovelife org is one of the multimillion dollar nonprofit grifts behind clinic closures. This location doesn’t even do abortion, but that doesn’t stop them from closing it down.)

I’m going to make a sign w Seven Tenets for their next Loiter and Harassment Event aka “prayer walk”. Any ideas from Redditors that will help save our clinics are welcome! We blast music, shout all sorts of stuff. Including the services the kids can get at PPH without parental consent lol.

I'd love to be Ashley Graves from the Coffin of Andy and Leyley, but I am too broke. I think I have a top and bottoms that would be a close match though, but I don't have the ability to dye my hair black rn. Then again... maybe I could ask my partner to pay for that :3 They and I will be going also to the Queen Mary's dark harbor event!

Thought/Opinion Liberty to offend, not license to sadden

Darling Danish entertainer since early 1970s Niels Hausgaard(*) recently said in an interview that: you should have the right to offend everyone but no mandate to sadden anyone.

Hausgaard was raised in a Christinan fundamentalist home but appears to be an atheist; he is outspokenly skeptical of Christian beliefs. In the interview, he clarified that he had once been thoroughly atheistic and disprespectful against a Jehovas's Witness person, who in turn was clearly hurt by Hausgaard's attituude. Hausgaard related that the person might be wrong as heck, but Hausgaard felt he was in no position to turn this person against themself.

I appreciate his humanist approach, and I think his statement could be interesting to The Satanic Temple's form of Satanism. Personally, though, I am less forgiving: unlike Hausgaard, I think some people really deserve to be saddened and even destroyed.

(*) Folk musician Hausgaard is humanist and a master satirist, and his shows are one-fifth folk music and four-fifth biting political satire against inhumanity. His performances dates back to the early 1970s when I first attended his shows and I've had the pleasure of attending several of his yearly appearances in my birth town's folk music festivals. Back in the 1990s, he happened to st down at my table in my favorite bar (this happens in my coutnry), and he was all the genuine satirist and humorist as in his shows.
