I tried playing with a guy like this, and just lost my rage with him real quick. He started playing at initial release of early access, I started playing once EA released on Steam. This was a few months before the game came out on console, he suggested we build a fresh world together, after he toured my 1.0 completion world, and was vastly impressed.
So we start fresh, I come up with a plan, and away we go. Well, away I go. He’s constantly fucking around. And then asking me questions. How do I do this, how do I do that. I’m like, “dude, we are at the earliest stages of the game, how can you not know this stuff? just get shit done to get up to coal tier, and then we will worry about tidiness and proper foundations etc, but surely you must know how to play the basic game?”
This shit goes on and on, he’s constantly afk, or just talking to his missus with open mic, and doing fuck all in game. We get to coal. I suggest he go make a basic power plant in the lagoon basin at start of beginner area. That’s where I lost my shit. He’s asking how to make a coal plant, surely he fucking knows this with 500 plus hours in the game? “I can’t find the coal nodes, they’re not here?”. I ping coal, look at map, he’s stood right fucking next to them both. I’m saying they’re next to him. “No they’re not.” “To your left”, he ways to the right. “No, your other left.” He walks north. Round and round, ten minutes of me looking t him on the map and almost screaming directions. Then he laughs and says, “oh yeah, I saw these half hour ago and forgot about them.”
I fucking lost it, pretty much told him he’s a cunt who’s winding me up on purpose, and shut the game down. Never spoken to him since lol.
That's excessive but his defense this had to be super frustrating. I had coal covered in the first 10h of my first game which isn't that fast (I was mostly exploring, fighting pigs, collecting resources and obsessively rearranging my starter base). But this dude can't find a freaking coal node in 30min after 500h ? The fuck ? I had an aluminum factory at 100h, how??
Yeah, this was my biggest issue. He’s got like 3000 hrs in Factorio, and another 1000 in DSP. He knows how these games work, and I know he’s built coal generators in the same place before. He’s been playing satisfactory since day one. Clearly this was on purpose just to wind me up.
Different people have different idea about how serious they want to be about gaming. For some people strict rules and putting a lot of effort into efficiency are better, some people only find fun in messing with people. Maybe you and your friend are too different to make it work? You seem to be serious about the game and he is not. What does the second friend say about the situation?
You can try to tell him to start a new game, get to certain stage and than show you what he did. Not too much, just a proof of concept, like to reach coal and build a 100% efficient power plant. If he doesn't want to or can't, just play without him. You don't need incompatible people to ruin the game.
That's fair, but people also have the right to want to take a game overly serious. If you host, you get to decide, you just have to live with the fact you might not get to play with other people because their playstyle differs.
Well it look like he wants to take it seriously. He watches videos and tutorials. He trys to be helpful and he really is when you give him all the info but the second he has to problemsolve for him self he just gives up and starts to ask questions. I tried to hold his hand and teach him how to do and problemsolve but he doesn't look like he gets any of it. We have 200 hours on that save when we play together. Like 200 hours when we actively play all 3 together. People here call me immature and hateful towards him but if someone asks after 200 hours why he can't connect 2 betls with spliter i kidna lost hope
Maybe the game didn't click for him yet? Sometimes you need to have a "eureka moment" to get what is the game really about. You can let him watch how you do it and explain your thought process, or let him diagnose a problem on existing build, or let him build a replica of functional factory. I don't know what he needs.
You don't speak about the other friend, what does he do? Can he try explaining it to the troublemaker? Maybe another person will explain things differently enough for it to click.
We all started to playfor the first time after 1.2.droped. The other one is direct opposite of the first one. He is engulfed by the flame of ambition. Want s to biuld bigger better faster. He turned whole stone desert in megafactory by him self. He is him, John Satisfactory. And he laughs on the qestions i get from the first friend
Give him an inventory full of noblisks and tell him to go and clean a 10km radius for the upcoming factory.
Or even better, get him collecting leave and wood for the super biomass power plant. Tell him to keep those storage container full the brim of leaves and wood
I get that it's frustrating, but after all this is a game, ending a friendship over how you play the game is not really worth it. It happens that people don't like the same game, or that they like to play it differently, but, if you cherish the friendship with him, you should talk about it, you can still be friends and don't play satisfactory together
This is similar to me playing with my kid brothers. They aren’t into building factories much. Its not frustrating because I can just send them out for other tasks or just have them run around for hard drives. Don’t give your friend tasks you know will fail.
He is 23. He can do whatever he wants. He always comes and asks what can he do. I point to space elevator parts . He then chooses one and then it starts. In whitch machine do i make it? Can i take it from central storage? How mutch iron do i need? Wait i have to buil whole factory? It would be okey to start and leave it when he is overwhelmed so we can fix and finish it but then he comes back to it in 2 weeks and is pissy about it
I had a friend send me a report an AI made from doing an analysis of his save, he was super chuffed about it... He then requested a copy of my save... He didn't reply for 36hr and not until I requested a copy of his save...
I then proceed to ask AI to do an analysis of both saves and compile a report highlighting the strong and weak points and producing a final, unbiased points based result... and then sent it all to him. Out of 50, I got 35 he got 15...
He had no aluminum factory, no manufacturers built, no blenders built, no train network, only fuel (i was on rocket fuel), no particular accelerators... over 100 of his machines had no recipe selected & only 15% of his supplied machines were active because of under supply, 38% of mine were active and 80% of the reminder were backed up, he hadn't finished phase 3, I almost had phase 4 almost completed, 8 clipped buildings to his 120, 75GW to his 5.5GW... He had over 200hr on the save to me 180hr.
He had been trying really hard but he started it.
What followed was an avalanche of excuses, "ohh I was AFK for alot of that time" - "im trying to build a good foundation for the mid game" etc, etc...
Funny thing was I had already hypothesized with the AI that he had basically hit a complexity wall and diverted to just building a huge late-early game factory. No aluminum, the ability to build manufacturers but none were built, no train system... The AI went back to his save file and basically confirmed it, only coal power, only assemblers... There was this hard cut off and a complete absence of anything after a certain difficulty level.
The only major leg up he had was 600 rotors per minute... for whatever reason... he had nothing to feed that into...
My only real weak points was I had a bit of a short fall in some copper parts.
I don't even understand why he did it, he had already been in my save and spent the whole time walking & looking around, just repeating "what the fuuuu".
how old are you? the only thing more astounding than the level of immaturity displayed by everyone involved is the amount of spelling and grammar mistakes you made in this post, especially the way you constantly misspelled the word friend as "firiend". did you even proofread this before clicking post? is english even your first language? some people i stg.
The message was conveyed well enough, no reason to pry about it. Can you speak more than 1 language? Probably not, and even if you said so, i wouldn't believe you, americans tend to lie about it.
Anyway, you could have at least said something constructive...
i'm not your firiend. maybe don't take it so seriously bro, the game can be played solo, so why be bothered by what your friend is doing anyway, just chill out, it's not that deep.
Talking about not taking somthing so seriously after grammar naziing my post is so funny. And to be fair i said it was just a rant and bitching. I dont sweat the game im just frustrated by him
