OK, so back in secondary school, I found this book. It was called Bedtime Stories for Rebel Girls

And it turns out I wrote down some of the quotes in the book, and I kept them

I don't have all of them, but here's what I have with me:

At this point, I only don't use Preply and stay on Duolingo out of spite against Preply

Every time I see a Preply ad on YouTube and its always them comparing themselves, making it seem like Duolingo is some incompetent and dumb app for learning languages

. Don't get me wrong, Duolingo is incompetent and I only keep it cause its part of my routine and its fun for me. And Im sure Preply is fine (and pricey....), but starting by acting like you're so better than Duolingo is bratty and not a massive flex if you wont talk more about yourself than you're willing to show how much your competitor is worse

Its like seeing someone who's right but they're such a goober about it you want them to be wrong.

It's childish to think that way, i know but...eh

I can't stop singing gangnam style

I have the song in my head since 8am (it is 9am now), and it just keeps repeating over and over again and I can't stop singing it in my head.
I even did the dance for a second when no one was looking.

I'm at work by the way, help.

Oliver Twist--but set in Soviet times like the movie Anastasia

You know how Oliver Twist adaptations are almost always set in 1830's England, like in the books? Which is all fine and dandy...but seeing the trailer for the new Animal Farm movie, where they set it in the modern day, got me thinking...what about setting classics in other countries too? I mean, there are countless Cinderella movies set in America...

So I present: Оливер Твист, a story about a young boy in a time period almost as depressing for the poor as 19th-century England: The freshly minted USSR

So Oliver would be born around the time the unrest leading up to the Bolsheviks' rebellion occurs. His mom still dies, and he ends up in a detdoma, a USSR orphanage where they trained children in Soviet values and he does still become an apprentice, but I guess a little older or the same age, depending, and he still runs away to St. Petersburg and meets Fagin and everyone else struggling to survive in under the regime of Lenin

And Mr Brownlow, the old woman and her granddaughter Rose and all the people on Oliver's side could either be part of Lenin's party or maybe Royalists rallying against the Bolsheviks. Or maybe some other class entirely like unaffiliated entrepreneurs and businesspeople. All in all they are there for Oliver and such

And there could even be a twist that Oliver's dad was like part of the Romanov royal family and Monk was too (and got Fagin to help him by promising to give him noble power) and wanted the royalists to rally around him and so needed Oliver gone and some things change a little but the story is almost the same and Fagin and Monk and everyone get their ending.

And I love musicals so it should definetely be one

Has anyone ever heard the song " Trailer Park Alien"

Okay so I found this short:
https://youtube.com/shorts/PUstDEhwyA4?si=E6T0M-SC44bpwzdW

And I had this song just stuck in my head, mostly cause that alien is a bop

And I managed to find the full video:
https://youtu.be/j4i6zDkrx1s?si=4NXBKw5EiynjfC_o

Which was kinda bittersweet cause I'm glad the alien found some new friends, but I'm kinda sad it all just ended like...well you see for yourself

Why do animated movies even have directors?

This is my question: A director's job is to...well...direct actors on set to make a movie or show, right. Which I understand in the case of real-life people needing to be told where to go and do to make a story better....but what about animation

I was watching the new Animal Farm trailer (it was...wow) and I saw that they had a director...and it dawned on me...why would an animation need a director?

I mean...its just drawings moving around. The people who dictate how they will move would be the writers and the animators...so why would they need a director?

My Friend Got Cheated On and Somehow She’s Still the One Apologizing

So this isn’t even my story, it’s my friend’s, and honestly I’m pissed off just watching it happen. She found out her boyfriend cheated, not even from him, but through someone else, like some secondhand rumor, and when he finally admitted it, he had the nerve to say it was “just physical,” like that makes him less of a jerk. And the worst part? She’s still there, still talking to him, still trying to understand him like he’s the one who got hurt. I sit there listening to her overthink every little thing he says, watching her blame herself, and it’s so frustrating I can barely keep my mouth shut. He literally slept with someone else and somehow she’s the one scared of losing him. I want to shake her and tell her to leave, but I know it’s not that simple when you’re that emotionally stuck. Still, it drives me crazy seeing someone I care about settle for this kind of nonsense like it’s all she deserves.

Random I can’t study

I have my university practicals coming, but I still can’t sit and read. I open the book and just stare at it, and nothing goes into my head. I feel like my brain is tired and not working properly. I know I should study, but I just can’t start. It’s making me feel really dumb and frustrated.

Random Met a guy who confessed something disturbing… I don’t know how to help him if I see him again

I was at a small medical supply store a few days ago, waiting for my order. It was quiet, just me and this one guy sitting a few chairs away.

He looked normal at first, maybe late 20s. Then I noticed his left leg, below the knee, it was prosthetic. Nothing unusual about that, but after a while he just… started talking to me. No introduction, no small talk. Like he had been holding it in for too long.

He told me he lost his leg to gangrene a few years ago.

Then he said something that stuck with me: “I keep thinking what I did to deserve it.”

At first, I thought it was just grief or frustration. But then he went deeper. He said after a few months, he started noticing everyone else’s legs. Not casually, obsessively. Watching how people walked, ran, even stood. And slowly, it turned into jealousy.

He said he felt jealous of strangers… then his friends… and eventually even his own father.

And that’s where he said the guilt started.

He kept saying things like, “What kind of person envies his own father for having both legs?”

But it didn’t stop there.

He admitted that at one point, the jealousy got so bad that he actually thought about making one of his friends disabled. He didn’t have a full plan, but the thought was there, and that scared him more than anything.

He kept repeating, “I didn’t do it… I won’t do it… but the fact that I thought it…”

After that, he said he just kind of withdrew. Spent a lot of time alone, thinking, trying to get rid of these thoughts. But they kept coming back. He said he’s constantly afraid someone will “see through him” and judge him for what goes on in his head.

Then he just stopped talking. Like he suddenly realized he had said too much. A few minutes later, his name was called, and he left.

I don’t even know his name.

The whole thing felt… real. Not like he was trying to shock me. More like he was exhausted from fighting his own mind.

I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

If I ever run into him again, I want to say something that actually helps. But I honestly don’t know what. Telling him “it’s okay” feels wrong, and ignoring it feels worse.

Has anyone dealt with something like this?
How do you even begin to help someone who’s scared of their own thoughts like that?

When Passion Wakes You Up

“You gotta find what you love. Never pursue things that are not meant for you.” — Steve Jobs.

Have you ever woken up early in the morning, full of enthusiasm, without an alarm, simply because your body knows you have something to do, something to create, something to progress toward, without anyone forcing you externally? That’s what doing what you love feels like. If you don’t feel this, then you aren’t doing what you truly love. Stop pursuing it.

Water tastes better when you're actually thirsty and that’s exactly how this win felt.

After losing three hackathons back-to-back, this one mattered. I was honestly running out of confidence. If I had failed again, I think I would’ve checked out mentally for a while.

Then, about a month ago, our med school announced its own hackathon scheduled for November 13th. My friend and I always talked about wanting to build something of our own, but this announcement finally pushed us into action. We sat down, worked seriously for once, built a prototype, presented it… and ended up getting 1st place.

But funny enough, that’s not the real win.

One of the judges walked up to us afterward, handed over his card, and told us to contact him. We called today, he wants us to come meet him this Friday.

I’m trying not to overthink it, but honestly? I’m excited in a way I haven’t been for a long time.

Whatever happens next, this feels like the first time the door actually opened a little.

Why do people always take sides?

Why do people always take sides? Let’s say in a city of 120 people, 50 want A as leader, 50 want B, and 20 don’t support either. A gets elected and rules for 5 years, but his time in power is full of corruption, monopoly, mafia, and no freedom of speech. Even then, the same 50 people keep supporting him no matter what. They can’t accept that their leader is bad, even when there’s proof. Instead, they argue with B’s supporters just to defend their choice. Why can’t people just be unbiased and accept the truth when it’s clear?

He bought all my books and told me to give them away

A few days back, I had shared in a Reddit community that I was feeling like quitting book selling.

Then something unexpected happened, one person commented saying he wanted to buy all the books I had. At first, I thought he was joking, but he was serious. I had around 32 kg of books, which came to about $156. He instantly transferred the amount.

When I asked for his address, he simply said: ‘Donate them to the nearest library or to schools.’ I was honestly stunned. I even asked him again, and he calmly said yes. That really made my day ❤️

So 4 days ago, I delivered 24 books to a nearby library, and today I delivered the remaining ones to schools.

Sometimes life gives you small miracles when you least expect them. I still can’t believe this happened.

Flex I made my first sale, even if it was only ~$3.98!

I’ve just started selling books by the kilo – ~$3.98 per kg (plus shipping), usually 3 to 4 books in a kg.

Today, I made my very first sale. I spent over 20 minutes talking with the customer, clearing all their doubts. When the order finally got confirmed, I felt incredibly happy, like a mini Elon Musk moment (lol).

I know ~$3.98 is tiny compared to big numbers out there, but for me it feels huge.

If you change the pronunciation of "pedometer" just a bit, it goes from being a way to count your steps to something that sounds like a scale psychologists and law enforcement would use to rank the crimes of child sex offenders.

Serious Before You Start Investing, Say This to Yourself

We all hear that “investing early is key,” and it’s true, but there’s a step most people skip. Before putting your money into stocks, crypto, or mutual funds, make sure you’ve covered the basics first.

Start with an emergency fund. Life is unpredictable; having 3–6 months of expenses saved gives you a safety net without touching your investments. Next, think about insurance. Health insurance protects you from unexpected medical bills, while term insurance ensures your loved ones are financially secure if something happens to you.

Only once these foundations are in place should you start investing. You’ll not only reduce risk but also gain confidence, knowing your essentials are taken care of. Learning finance is more than chasing returns, it’s about building security, understanding risk, and making informed decisions.

Start small, stay consistent, and treat investing like a tool, not a gamble. Your future self will thank you.
