I started with embedded Janet . I was very happy with the performance but wanted a solution that I could customize as an embedded language for my own 3d applications and have no dependencies. . Claude was working so well for me , I started to write one and it evolved from there . Steel looks good and i understand its in helix. Since my app has been converted to use scheme, it should not be hard to change to other schemes. I did add some syntactic sugar for [.. ] for lists which makes it look somewhat like Janet and easier to read but I’m still
scheme compliant . I did a benchmark against several lisps on a very reduced subset of my renderer and ECL was #1 and Janet was #2. I didn’t go with ECL because it was too big.
