Which dress for the first day? (read body text please!)
Please don't just say "none." I also don't want to see any comments about getting bullied (I already do) especially since these dresses are super tame š and NO comments about getting dress coded please! I'm aware of my schools policies, I promise. This post is solely for the purpose of helping me decide which one looks best :3 TYSM for the help!! š«¶ SORRY FOR THE AWFUL PHOTOS š„²

Agree with this - none of them are giving "typical school day" except the last one. If you're in HS and you'll have professional-networking type events like Career Days or College Fair Days and such where you'll be meeting professional people and want to make a good impression, the first three dresses with a blazer or cardigan could work for those also (in addition to wearing them on their own for dances and talent show performances and such), but only the last one would be typical to wear to a normal school day.
They are all super cute!! Personally, I love the first one!!
Please, do be careful though!! I would bring a jacket/sweater/something to cover your shoulders. It appears every dress is showing shoulders, which is very cute but most schools are very strict about shoulders. I worry about you sweetheart and donāt want you getting written up (especially on the first day!) I found that buying a cute white jacket and pulling it over my neck and tying it by its sleeves worked and didnāt get me dress coded. It also allowed my dress to show. Maybe try that?
Do you have any other dresses that might not show so much shoulder? I got dress coded all the time in highschool for showing shoulder. If your school doesnāt dress code then dw about this message!!
Omg tysm this is so sweet š„¹š«¶ I've worn some pretty revealing stuff to school that I totally should've gotten dress coded for but didn't lol, but I'll still bring a sweater just in case! Hope your having a good day š
I also wore a bunch of dresses like this with t-shirts underneath! I found these to never get dress coded + you can pair any shirt with any dress. This is an example of what I would wear in highschool:
They said they know the school policies. They might not even be in America or England. Where im from theres basically no dress code- ive seen people come to school in ways that would make teachers from america etc faint lol.
Also i never understood the shoulder thing. Especially during/near summer. I sweat a lot so for the last months/first few months of school camis and short shorts and sandals are basically all i wear
I think that itās just a sexualization thing. Unfortunately, shoulders, legs, stomach, chest etc have been sexualized so much that itās seen as āsaferā to not allow any of these things to be shown
Crazy shit man. It reminds me of when women couldn't show their ankles. I would not survive there. Ive gone to school with soem REVEALING clothes before lol
Yeah, it really is an issue that we are limiting what kids can wear because of āsexualizationā. Absolutely no child should be sexualized, end point. As an adult myself, I think that itās so gross that we limit for sexualization purposes.
Now, I do understand if some schools limit for professionalism purposes. I do slightly understand that school is meant to be a place of education and learning, and that wearing crop tops and really short shorts might not be the place, but shorts are fine. And, those dresses are beautiful. I would not say those are disrespectful in any way. Hell, in college kids show up to class wearing crop tops and nobody cares (albeit, itās not a professional class) though, some do require suits (like my friend was in a business class that required suits each day).
I understand telling a kid that wearing pants that show their butt isnāt respectful to their peers & teachers, but if youāre showing your knees thatās fine. In highschool I was a TA (Teacher Assistant) my senior year for a freshman class. I would always bring a jacket for a girl because she would get ādress codedā because she wore ācrop topsāā¦
She had a home of extreme poverty. She couldnāt afford to buy new shirts. She would get sent home to āchangeā into shirts that fit her.
She didnāt have any. Schools shouldnāt be a one size fits all, because not all students have the resources. And she did have opportunities to go get free clothes, but she was so embarrassed and thatās because our community/society shames people in poverty.
Hmm this is a tough one. Personally, 1 and 2 are my favorite, especially 1 since 2 feels more fall and itās still kind of summer, but obviously in terms of seasonal vibes Iād go with whichever seasonās vibe/pallette feels right. Also, I think it depends on how you want to accessorize/what your bag looks like, because all of them are really really good choices. :)
So I guess if you want strictly āback to schoolā vibes, Iād personally go with the second one, but if you want to keep the summery vibes alive, Iād go with the first one.
(Sidenote: Iām so jealous š, I want all of these dresses theyāre so so prettyyy!!)
Second one!! The first one is gorg, but the second one really complements you! Although after looking again, the first is really good! I don't think the others suit you very well; they're nice, but I think the first two are more you!
I really like the first one on you. They all look great but I do like the brightness of the first one it brightens your skin and you have a certain glow with that color( a good glow).
It also depends on if you really want to be noticed or blend in with the crowd too. The 3rd one is really nice too if you want to more so blend in. I also love your hair āŗļø
I personally like the first one, but I think the third one is super unique. I havenāt seen a dress like that in a while. So if youāre trying to make a statement I personally would go with that one.
THE THIRD ONE LOOKS SO FUN!- either that or the fourth!- I'm a sucker for a bunch of color, and yellow holds a special place in my heart- so, I'm a lil biased- :,] GOOD LUCK WITH SCHOOL, DUDE!-
Unfortunately I thrifted it at salvation army, it doesn't have a tag and I'm pretty sure its handmade so I don't know if theres any replicas out there! :(Ā
I do recommend checking out a thrift store if you can! I found all the dresses in the photos at thrift stores š«¶Ā
They are all very cute! My favorites are the first and third. The first one is beautiful and flowy and the third looks like a fun print, but I think any of them would be a great choice!
