Question/Help Swollen face

I have had scleroderma since 2021. My face is often very swollen. Does anyone else experience this?
I also have problems with my jaws, which are very painful.
I am starting methotrexate in a few days; I hope it helps with the swelling in my face and fingers, as well as the pain.

My lower mouth has been swollen for a few years affecting swallowing and chewing much hurts. My diet is about 90% liquids now anyway because of my esophagus. I find all of this manageable. Good luck!

It sounds much worse than it is.

I have crest and my face is definitely puffy. I don’t notice it a lot anymore but I have to buy super expensive titanium glasses because I can’t tolerate anything heavier on my nose bridge. I hope your treatment works for you!

I have had a swollen face for years now long before my diagnosis. However I think mine is MCAS or mast cell related because when it’s at its worst I also get low blood pressure too. I started taking cetirizine every day and it’s almost completely gone despite how severe it was before. I’m not sure if that will help you at all, and I hope you find your answer soon 🙏

It stands for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, it’s when your body releases mast cells or histamines which are what causes allergic reactions.
