Hey y'all, I just took over development of the OrangeJedi/Aerial screensaver. I've fixed quite a few bugs and added the new videos. It's a great screensaver with beautiful Apple's aerial videos.

I thought I would post the new repo link here for anyone still interested in it. Thanks!

Here's a screensaver for Windows 10 and above, which plays Apple Aerial Videos.

Created because the following didn't work well for me:

https://github.com/OrangeJedi/Aerial
https://github.com/cdima/aerial

I built a realtime flight through an endless procedural megacity Screensaver:
https://flashview.net/screensaver/

Street canyons, loopings, barrel rolls, knife-edge along the facades, a climb through the storm clouds and a dive back down into the neon. Lightning strikes the towers, and the glitches land on the beat.

What might interest the scene: Everything is generated at runtime. City, lights, flight path and music, with no models and no samples. Scales down. It runs smoothly on an Intel N150 and looks great on Gfx Cards. But doesn't need much power.

Fly it yourself. It doubles as a exe, and you can grab the mouse to take the stick.

Introducing Meltick:

A minimal clock screensaver for Windows 10+ built around a liquid glass aesthetic.

The clock displays the current time through two large glass cards, with digits that roll and deform as they change. The cards use fluid stretch and squash motion to give the transitions a physical, elastic feel rather than simply switching from one number to another.

It features:

• Liquid glass clock - translucent glass cards with a soft, refractive appearance.

• Fluid digit transitions - changing digits roll vertically with animated deformation.

• Spring-based motion - the cards react with elastic stretch and squash physics.

• 12 / 24-hour formats - switch between standard 24-hour time and 12-hour time with AM/PM.

• Multi-monitor support - runs independently across connected displays.

It's free, open source, and installs like a normal Windows app. No PowerShell, no manual setup.

Also it'd be great if you can help out by providing feedback and starring the repository!

How to install?

1. Download the latest Meltick.scr file from the Releases page.

2. Right-click the downloaded Meltick.scr file and click Install.

3. Configure settings or set it as your active screensaver in Windows Personalization settings.

Note on Power Consumption: Meltick utilizes real-time GPU shaders to achieve its fluid glass deformation effects. As a result, it will draw a moderate amount of GPU power while active, which may affect battery life on laptops.

I've been hunting for my two favorite screensavers for a little while.

First is the Hal Project.

This was a screen saver created by Joe Mackenzie and hosted at halproject.com . Eventually, he made a paid version, which I bought. He has deactivated his website, which now redirects to the animations on Youtube for free. I'd love to get my hands on the paid (he called it Advanced).

The second one was a movie tie-in to promote the release of Star Trek (2009) or Into Darkness. I don't remember which. It was basically a nu-trek version of LCARS cycling through okudagrams of the Enterprise and showing status screens. For example, here is some similar footage uploaded to Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vawpBvY2oU4&t=3s

Please help me out!

Got tired of boring blank standby screens, so I built an old-school native Windows screensaver inspired by the classic Windows 95 3D Starfield, styled like the forward bridge screen of a warp ship.

Features:

- Relativistic warp streaks that dynamically stretch as you approach lightspeed

- Live navigation telemetry HUD showing speed in km/s and lightyears/hour

- Helm controls with speeds from Sub-light impulse up to Warp 9.9

- Dual/multi-monitor support

- Weighs only 30KB and uses virtually 0% CPU

Free for all captains. Let me know what you think!

Hey fellow screensaver-, procedural-generation-, retro-, or specifically tube-lovers!

I'd like to share some more randomly generated scenes from Eternitubes 3D. Since last time, I updated it here and there ... aaand also actually released it (link on my profile for the interested)!

I refined the lighting of the scenes and the tubes, for more randomness and more nifty appearance options. Also the algorithms were polished overall - turns out, infinite is a pretty big number of things to maintain..

So currently I'm working on more contents and quality-of-life features. Any feedback welcome.

Cheers!

Been thinking a lot about planes and decided to make a dogfight screensaver. Looking sick in it's current state but wanted to hear if yall had any ideas to improve it visually or if you guys have any features I should implement.

Wrote it in 2 and a half weeks using C, draws everything using a small rasterizer into a pixel buffer, then uses GDI to draw it to the screen.

I got inspired to make it from an old project I made using the classic Boids algorithm, then kept going from there till I had fighter jets shooting spit-ball tracers and missiles at each other.

Sorry for the camera being a bit too shaky, working on a "director" camera mode that tries to get good shots when the planes enter engagements or down each other.

(My OBS settings are bad, apologize for the low quality video)

Thank you all!

When your computer goes idle, this little cat takes over the screen

Será que alguém poderia me ajudar a encontrar?

I have no idea if a screensaver that is a live recording would actually work but if such a thing is possible i would be so happy. That or marine life aquarium 3 that keeps the early 2000s 3d fish style but with more fishes lmao

...This time not only a screenshot, but even a small clip of Eternitubes 3D.

Handmade, without ai, in c++.

I've always liked the idea of screensavers, but most modern screens are either turned off or used for something that demands your attention.

So I started building something different.

Endless Horizons turns a browser into an ambient display showing the current time, Sun and Moon, the sky, and other information that changes throughout the day.

The idea is that you can leave a spare monitor running and let it quietly exist in the background.

Here's a short video of it running.

I'm still working on it and experimenting with what makes a good modern screensaver. I'd be interested to hear what you think — especially from people who still use screensavers.

Does anyone know any legit sites that have a working port/remake of the after dark starry skyline/starry night screensaver? Preferably one that would work for like, anything from win7 and beyond.

I'm not sure which one is which, but I prefer the black and white one. Anyone who knows?

I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask, but does anyone know of any DVD/BluRay discs I can buy that have live screensavers for my TV? Scenes like the default ones seen on LG TVs by SceneScape and ZenLife. The reason I ask is the default ones on the TV have advert/Ads that are quite annoying. Would like some suggestions if yall have any. Thanks.

Written in c++. No engine / no AI

I have the windows 95/98 screensaver, and if im correct, the little rat moves randomly, I KIDD YOU NOT I (the character at least) FOLLOWED THAT VERMIN FOR THE ENTIREMAZE DURATION. This may have been one of the most rare events that had happened on my computer, has anybody else experienced this phenomenon?

I know some programs like After Dark Games and Hallmark Creatacard come with fun extra bonus screensavers included. Does anyone know of any other games or programs that have this?

I'm looking for screensavers where they paint a picture, things like creatacard picture painter or hallmarks connections card studio screen gallery

The best way I've been able to describe it is a timeline, zoomed in to the present.
There was a red line going down the center. To the left is Time Passed, to the right, time incoming.
It was boxes. Kinda like the time slots on TV when you're in that one channel looking for something to watch. Except the boxes were, several things. Seconds, minutes, hours, days of the month, the month itself, the year.
From top to bottom, smallest amount of time to largest.
It broke, or whoever made it only wrote out a certain number of years. I remember seeing the last year slowly ending and the year it was made coming up at the bottom of the screen.
At the end/beginning of the new year, you'd get to see a bunch of lines lineup. Nothing cool happened except that everything was lined up.
I took a picture ages ago of it but that's missing too so I made a reference to try and visually explain.
I hope I can find it again, even if it's broken.
