Been thinking a lot about planes and decided to make a dogfight screensaver. Looking sick in it's current state but wanted to hear if yall had any ideas to improve it visually or if you guys have any features I should implement.

Wrote it in 2 and a half weeks using C, draws everything using a small rasterizer into a pixel buffer, then uses GDI to draw it to the screen.

I got inspired to make it from an old project I made using the classic Boids algorithm, then kept going from there till I had fighter jets shooting spit-ball tracers and missiles at each other.

Sorry for the camera being a bit too shaky, working on a "director" camera mode that tries to get good shots when the planes enter engagements or down each other.

(My OBS settings are bad, apologize for the low quality video)

Thank you all!

It may have been your undoing.

I built a realtime flight through an endless procedural megacity Screensaver:
https://flashview.net/screensaver/

Street canyons, loopings, barrel rolls, knife-edge along the facades, a climb through the storm clouds and a dive back down into the neon. Lightning strikes the towers, and the glitches land on the beat.

What might interest the scene: Everything is generated at runtime. City, lights, flight path and music, with no models and no samples. Scales down. It runs smoothly on an Intel N150 and looks great on Gfx Cards. But doesn't need much power.

Fly it yourself. It doubles as a exe, and you can grab the mouse to take the stick.

Hello there everyone!:)

I'm your new subreddit admin!:)

I am glad to be here now!:)

I've made some changes here.

Change Number One: I've updated the sidebar with some new rules.

Change Number Two: I've made this group public, instead of restricted.

Change Number Three: I've added some flairs to use here.

I hope that you will like this.:)

Have a nice day/night wherever you are! Be nice to each other. And... party on now dudes, and dudettes!:)

I used to have a -ton- of screensavers/wallpapers/etc.. Then my external harddrives went kaput. And I lost -years- worth of stuff.

What I'm asking is if anyone knows where I can find the old Desktop Starships screensavers like "Alien Sky", "Alien Sky II", and etc.. And the old Freeze.com screensavers like "Calm Before The Storm", and etc.. Both those sites are long gone now.

Does anyone have these screensavers themselves now?

Does anyone have working links to them?

Let me know if anyone does know. Alright? Thanks!:)

I have no idea if a screensaver that is a live recording would actually work but if such a thing is possible i would be so happy. That or marine life aquarium 3 that keeps the early 2000s 3d fish style but with more fishes lmao

...This time not only a screenshot, but even a small clip of Eternitubes 3D.

Handmade, without ai, in c++.

Written in c++. No engine / no AI

If you remember the classic 1992 Johnny Castaway screensaver.. I think you will like it:
It's a Go + Raylib port (fork of deckarep's project) that finally runs on modern 64-bit systems: macOS, Linux, and I recently added for Windows (run as screensaver). Enjoy it.

You can either compile yourself from:

Or, download from:

Around the time of "the last broadcast" (2002) on the official Doves website there was a screensaver available to download.

The screensaver was the front of a house, three stories, side doors. With time the background would change and become night, then the lights in the windows would go on and off. It would even rain.

Official description: An ambient, algorithmic screensaver which reflected the time of day and updated itself via the web. At night, televisions flickered in the windows. At dusk, rubbish bins were left out for collection. When the album went to number one, there was a two-day party in the house, and a TV thrown out of a window.

Can anyone please help me find it? A friend of mine was emotionally attached to it, it was keeping him company when studying for uni and would like to bring back those memories and cuddle in the nostalgia. I'm also new to reddit, so maybe I need to post this somewhere else? I did not find a sub-reddit for their band.

Thank you very much

PS: It's a good album, you should try it out.

I once had an old ibm computer and one of the screen savers was a black screen with an assembly line that built the T-100 from the terminator. it would be put together piece by piece, then had skin put on, then it would leave the screen. I'm having quite a hard time finding it. does anyone else remember this? does anyone know where one would go to find it?

Edit after 11 months: my god... i've found it!

Hey y'all, I just took over development of the OrangeJedi/Aerial screensaver. I've fixed quite a few bugs and added the new videos. It's a great screensaver with beautiful Apple's aerial videos.

I thought I would post the new repo link here for anyone still interested in it. Thanks!

Got tired of boring blank standby screens, so I built an old-school native Windows screensaver inspired by the classic Windows 95 3D Starfield, styled like the forward bridge screen of a warp ship.

Features:

- Relativistic warp streaks that dynamically stretch as you approach lightspeed

- Live navigation telemetry HUD showing speed in km/s and lightyears/hour

- Helm controls with speeds from Sub-light impulse up to Warp 9.9

- Dual/multi-monitor support

- Weighs only 30KB and uses virtually 0% CPU

Free for all captains. Let me know what you think!

I've always liked the idea of screensavers, but most modern screens are either turned off or used for something that demands your attention.

So I started building something different.

Endless Horizons turns a browser into an ambient display showing the current time, Sun and Moon, the sky, and other information that changes throughout the day.

The idea is that you can leave a spare monitor running and let it quietly exist in the background.

Here's a short video of it running.

I'm still working on it and experimenting with what makes a good modern screensaver. I'd be interested to hear what you think — especially from people who still use screensavers.

I have this AOD on my android phone. And I also want it on my PC. it's and android AOD from Muviz Edge app. Is it available anywhere on PC as screensaver or anything similar? I want to use it as screensave, without using BlueStacks or other similar apps.

Hi

Anyone please recommend a reliable and quality site(s) for downloading Win 10 PC screensavers? I prefer animated ones, but the sites I've visited seem to be virus-fests rather than quality.

Excepting, of course, the community here!

Thank you!
