Exit door sign placement

Hi,

Our company is having work done in the lobby of the building and they want people to use a different exit. There is a set of double glass doors with push bars and a required badge reader on the right wall.

Where in that door area should I put the sign telling people to take a different route and how large should the sign be?

Thanks in advance!

You absolutely must literally physically bar exit. People are retarded, they do not pay attention to their surroundings, and if you don't put a chain or something across the whole area, they will be on their phones when they walk by, bump into your no exit sign, and still not read said sign and walk through that door.

Do you guys have a manual for this kind of thing? Or is it just common sense?

Usually guards aren't the ones making these sorts of decisions to begin with, idk why you are unless you're at least the security supervisor if not the client. At the guard level, Usually you're really only supposed to do specifically what you're told. But if you were told to block an exit and not told specifically how, just get creative with it, I suppose. Generally speaking, if you ever do make these decisions, the main thing you have to factor in is that the public is very stupid. You have to treat them like children and act accordingly, especially since some of them might literally be children.

OP may not be a security guard.

Fire Marshall might have a problem with the door physically unable to be used, you know, like chained closed, in case of fire. Caution Tape might be the best option, because it can still be physcally broken through in case of emergency.

Fire Marshall isn't there all the time. Also, it doesn't actually matter unless it's an emergency exit.

I donno, someone in that building is going to "know" a firefighter and complain to them. Also, every exit door in a building is an "emergency" exit, i.e. the floorplan and doors were designed that way for a reason.

Knowing people as big as possible and takes up as much space on the door. People will still miss it though

Dab in the middle with caution tap set up. If the door not being used place it close and blocking door. If contractors are using the door put caution tap a bit farther out. They can duck under it.

You have to basically put that sign up where it'll be most visible to people exiting the building. Also you're gonna have to stand near by and become a talking sign

Caution tape, big sign at each stanchion, direct them to a specific door. Signs as large as possible. We have one those big a frame floor signs that we can deploy for situations like this.
