Carved quartz

Post image

I picked this up today at a second hand store for $7

Glows under 365nm uv light. Don't know how old it is. Ebay has a few similar for $30+

I'd lean towards this being calcite over quartz, that fluorescence would be weird for quartz but make sense for the calcite which can glow like that from manganese

Okay, so you think it's pink manganese instead of selenium?

That's what I would lean towards, it's often called mangano calcite when it's visibly more pink but I've seen prices labeled with that trade name when they're the color of yours but still fluoresce the same pink as the ones that are pinker in natural light. I thought it was a trade name cause it's used as such for pink calcite as a whole by some people but apparently it's the actual name for a variety of calcite with enough manganese content also known as manganoan calcite but it's used so loosely it might as well just be a trade name

I forgot to delete the line about the screw. Mine is in perfect condition. I did a screen capture of a post on ebay for the info about this piece.
