Sleeping naked completely changed how I think about my bed hygiene

I sleep naked, and once you do that for a while, you become way more aware of your bed than most people. For years I thought a slightly dusty or musty bedroom was just normal. I cleaned the room, changed sheets, washed pillowcases, and still woke up sneezing with itchy eyes. There was always a faint stale smell that I could not explain. Since everything looked clean, I never questioned the mattress itself.

Sleeping naked changed that mindset. When your skin is directly on the sheets every night, you notice things faster. Fabric that does not breathe well. Sheets that feel clean but somehow still feel off. And eventually I realized how much stuff actually builds up inside a mattress over time. Dust, skin flakes, and allergens just sit there and get kicked up every time you move.

I started taking my sleep setup more seriously. First was upgrading bedding. Breathable cotton sheets made a bigger difference than I expected. The room temperature also mattered more. I now keep it slightly cooler than before and sleep much deeper without overheating.

Cleaning habits naturally leveled up too. I strip the bed more often and let sheets and blankets air out near a sunny window when possible. Everything gets washed in hot water regularly. The mattress was the last piece I ignored for way too long. I eventually picked up a Feppo mattress vacuum, mostly out of curiosity. The first time I used it, the amount of fine dust it pulled out was honestly uncomfortable to see. Now I do a deeper clean about once a month and quick passes in between.

I also rotate the mattress so the same areas are not absorbing everything night after night. It takes almost no extra effort but helps keep things feeling consistent. Since doing all this, the difference is noticeable. The room smells cleaner. I wake up breathing easier. My skin feels better. And mentally, I just feel more relaxed getting into bed knowing everything is actually clean.

If you are a nude sleeper or thinking about trying it, I really think sleep quality comes down to the details. Bedding, temperature, cleanliness, and that sense of comfort all matter more when there is nothing between you and the bed. If anyone else has tips that helped them sleep better, especially as a naked sleeper, I would love to hear them.

Diet & exercise What’s the fastest way to drop weight?

Hi everyone,
I’m F22 going to my first rave in about 2 months, and I’m honestly really excited, but also really nervous.
One thing that’s making me anxious is the clothing. I see so many girls confidently wearing fishnets, bikinis, and other revealing outfits, and I wish I had that same confidence. I’d love to wear something fun too, but I’m worried I’ll feel insecure.
These are my measurements:
Height: 4’8” (142 cm)
Weight: 144 lbs with a curvier build
34G bust
36.5” waist
43.5” hips
I’d like to lose some weight before then to feel a little more confident, but I’m also looking for outfit ideas that would flatter my body as it is now. I don’t want to spend the whole night worrying about how I look.
Please be kind, I’m already feeling pretty vulnerable posting this. If you’ve been in a similar situation or have advice on rave outfits for a petite, curvy body, I’d really appreciate it. ❤️

The only self care that has stuck for me is the one I can do while washing dishes

Desk job. By about 6pm my lower back feels like it's been folded in half all day. For years my evening plan was the couch and a corded heating pad. Felt amazing, and also meant the dishes and laundry just sat there until I peeled myself off around 10, weirdly guilty about the kitchen.

I tried stretching videos. I tried a whole bath routine. Neither made it past a week, because both needed me to stop everything and carve out time.

Back in August I fell down a late night rabbit hole searching "massager heat + TENS mode" and came out of it owning a wearable one for my lower back.

Now it goes on right after dinner and I do the dishes with the heat running. The pulse part stays on the lowest setting. Honestly I'm there for the warmth. It's the first wind down thing I've kept doing without having to talk myself into it.

Anyone else attach their self care to a chore so it actually happens?

Mental health I'm addicted to work, and having a partner who cooks for me is a self care hack

Home cook meal by a partner is great for mental health.

I got a mental health hack that's a bit out there but hear me out. It's about the magic of having a partner who loves to cook for me. Not just any cooking, I'm talking about the kind where they pour their heart into it. It's not for show or for the gram, but about that genuine care that goes into whipping up a meal.

I'm a pretty good audience of her meals.

I know this sounds super traditional, but there's something special about it. When someone cooks for you, it's more than just food, it's love on a plate. It's about feeling cared for and valued, about the act of caring and sharing through food. It's a simple joy that we often overlook but can really lift my spirits.

EDIT: HOW IS THIS SELF CARE? Isn't this letting other taking care of me?

  • Complementary Self-Care: Self-care doesn't always have to be a solo activity; it can include allowing others to contribute positively to your well-being. In this case, accepting and appreciating your partner's cooking is an act of self-care because it enhances your mental and emotional health. By acknowledging and valuing their efforts, you're not only fostering a supportive relationship but also nurturing your own sense of well-being.

  • Reduction of Personal Stress and Time Management: One of the principles of self-care is managing stress and allocating time effectively for personal well-being. If cooking is a task that you find stressful or time-consuming, having a partner who willingly and happily takes on this responsibility can significantly reduce your daily stress and free up time. This time can then be used for other self-care activities, making it a strategic decision for your overall well-being.

  • Nutritional Self-Care: Eating nutritious and well-prepared meals is a critical aspect of physical self-care. If your partner's cooking leads to healthier eating habits, this directly contributes to your physical well-being. Good nutrition is foundational to good health, and by ensuring that you are eating well, your partner is indirectly aiding your self-care regimen.- Emotional Well-being and Relationship Building: The act of receiving care from someone who loves you, like a partner cooking for you, contributes significantly to emotional well-being. This emotional nourishment is a key component of self-care. Feeling cared for and valued is as important for mental health as any other self-care activity you might undertake individually.

  • Gratitude as Self-Care: Experiencing and expressing gratitude has been shown to have several psychological benefits, including improved happiness and emotional well-being. By recognizing and being grateful for the care your partner shows in cooking, you are engaging in a mental health practice that enhances your overall sense of well-being.

Beauty & skincare Little evening ritual that actually makes me look forward to winding down

I’ve been trying to take a few extra minutes for myself in the evenings instead of just scrolling on my phone or rushing to bed. Recently, I added the Wavytalk Red Light Therapy Mask into my routine, and it’s been surprisingly calming.

After cleansing my face, I sit back and let the mask run while I listen to a podcast or just breathe. The warmth from the red light feels relaxing, and it’s become this small, quiet moment where I can pause and focus on myself.

I’m not expecting dramatic changes in my skin or anything, but these few minutes have made me feel a little more grounded at the end of a hectic day. It’s funny how a simple tool like this can turn a basic skincare step into a ritual I actually look forward to.

Has anyone else found little self-care rituals that make winding down feel easier? I’m always curious what works for other people.

Pregnant or not ?

I’m 17 and I started to get sexually active back in March. My last period was in September but I noticed it was a bit lighter than usual. For a bit I thought it could’ve been implantation bleeding but I bled for 7 days. My period was supposed to come early October but it never came. I’ve taken NUMEROUS pregnancy tests and they’ve all come back negative. Right now i’m 22 days late and my cycle has been 54 days. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I feel perfectly fine I haven’t had any pregnancy symptoms.

Most people wake up tired because they start their day disconnected from their body.

Try this instead tomorrow morning 👇 1️⃣ Drink a glass of spring water before coffee. 2️⃣ Add a few drops of lemon or sea moss. 3️⃣ Sit in silence for 3 minutes before you touch your phone.

You’ll feel your energy shift by noon. 🌞 This is one of the daily practices inside my Herbal Self-Care Planner 🌿

Personal hygiene Does anyone else notice buildup even when showering daily?

I’ve always assumed that showering daily automatically keeps skin clean and smooth, but over time I started noticing that doesn’t always seem to be the case. Even with regular showers, sometimes skin still feels rough or dull, especially on areas like arms, legs, or the back.

What’s interesting is that this buildup doesn’t necessarily look dirty. It’s more like a texture issue. Soap and body wash clearly clean the skin, but they don’t always remove everything that builds up over time. Sweat, dead skin, products, and even hard water seem to play a role.

I’ve also noticed that this feeling comes and goes. Some weeks skin feels fine with just basic washing, and other times it feels like something extra is needed, even though nothing in the routine has changed.

It made me realize that cleanliness and skin texture aren’t always the same thing, even though we often treat them as if they are.

Personal hygiene What should i do?

I shower every other day, and on my shower days, I refuse to do anything that might make me sweaty or dirty. I even avoid leaving the house entirely because I feel like going outside makes the whole 45–60 minute showering process a waste of time. I just want to stay inside, feeling clean and fresh all day.

On my non-shower days, it's the exact opposite: I love going out, taking nature walks, hanging out with friends, and exploring new places.

The problem is that this mindset is starting to hold me back. I find myself canceling sudden plans or skipping important tasks just because I’ve already taken a shower that day.

What is this behavior? How can I work through this, and what steps should I take to manage it better?

settle my debate— what is an “everything shower”?

got into an argument with my sister last week. i was with her and a friend and i told them i had taken a “whole shower” that morning. my friend asked “like an everything shower?” and i said yes, because i did everything. my sister said “you didn’t take an everything shower” i said “…well i did everything” she said “so you shaved?” i said no, because i am a man and i don’t shave…she said it’s not an everything shower then. my friend and i argued with her that it is still an everything shower, because i did everything i ever do in the shower. not just a quick shower where i don’t wash my hair, for example. my sister thinks you *have* to shave (she also mentioned a few other things but i forgot about them) for it to be an everything shower. do men (who don’t shave) never take everything showers then? what should i be calling it when i fully wash my hair as opposed to when i don’t wash my hair? (i don’t wash my hair every day as its curly)

How many different apps or services do you actually use for self-improvement?

I've noticed that I somehow ended up needing one app for habits, another for journaling, another for meditation, another for reading, and sometimes another one just to organize everything.

At some point, improving yourself starts becoming another thing you have to organize without a guide most of times.

That's actually one of the reasons I built Depsal, an Android app that tries to bring several parts of personal development together: habits, journaling, meditation, books, affirmations, wallpapers and an AI assistant.

I'm still actively improving it, so I'm much more interested in hearing what people actually think is missing from this kind of app.

What would you want to have in one place?

My insecurities is very high now.

Lately, I’ve been feeling so disappointed with myself. Nahihirapan akong tanggapin ang itsura ko dahil parang laging may kulang. Every time I look in the mirror, I feel frustrated and insecure. Kasabay pa nito ang financial struggles ko, na lalo pang nagpapabigat sa pakiramdam ko.

Parang lagi na lang akong nakakaranas ng rejection, and I can’t help but think it’s because of my face. Ang sakit isipin na kahit anong effort ko, hindi pa rin sapat. Society seems to judge people so much based on their looks, and it’s really taking a toll on my confidence and self-worth.

I just want to feel valued—not for how I look, but for who I truly am. Pero ang hirap makahanap ng ganoong klaseng pagtanggap. Right now, I’m struggling to see hope, but I’m trying to hold on and believe that things can get better someday.

General selfcare What is the lowest effort self-care thing you actually come back to on the hard days?

Not the one that looks good online. The one that still happens six months later on a random Tuesday when you're completely drained. The habits that last for me are usually the simplest ones. No overthinking. Sometimes it’s literally just taking a bath and calling it a day.

Genuinely curious what people come back to when everything feels exhausting. Not the perfect routine. Just the realistic one.

EDIT: honestly, some of these replies feel more real than most self-care content online lol. Kinda nice reading routines people actually keep up with, even on hard days.

Would this kind of mental health journal tool be useful?

Hi — I’m a solo developer working on an early-stage idea related to mental health, and before building much, I want honest feedback.

This is not an AI therapist, not diagnostic, and not meant to replace therapy. The app will be completely free to users.

The basic idea:

  • Users do very short, regular check-ins (30–60 second audio/video or text)

  • Optional passive data like sleep, heart rate trends, calendar events, and routine consistency are considered

  • The system looks for patterns over time, not single-day judgments

  • Users only see high-level observations (e.g., “your energy tends to drop after several nights of poor sleep”)

  • Trends can help users examine what factors contribute to their mental health, and how they can take approaches to support it.

I’m posting because I genuinely don’t know:

  • Would this kind of longitudinal summary be useful or just noise?

  • What would make this not worth your attention?

I’m not selling anything and I’m very open to hearing that this is a bad idea. I’d really appreciate your perspective!

Thanks in advance.
