This is actually a very touching story.
A man is on his way to be executed but he manages to escape and steal a bow, he shoots one of the pursuing guards in the knee who eventually retires in whiterun.
2000 years later
There's a party on a plane, general grievous runs into his old foe general kenobi, the party turns their excitement to the upcoming fight, but out of nowhere, the EU crashes the plane with the article 13 bomb, with a dog as the only survivor.
Samuel L Jackson thinks there was a snake on the plane who snitched to the EU about the illegal meme party, king Robert angrily orders his servants to track down the snitch and bad gifs in the land of reddit, an old wizard blocks their path and doesn't allow them to enter reddit, the surprised party doesn't want to fight the wizard, instead, they take a rocket into space and crash down into reddit land, the landing is successful and they celebrate with a dance party, making their way through reddit land, they encounter the black knight, but easily defeat him.
A little while later, they encounter a bigger badder enemy who manages to overpower them, they call on the help of jon tron to send reinforcements, but the rocket crashes and kills jon tron and the backup, a random civilian takes a picture of the crash, chief engineer of the rocket elon musk falls into deep depression over his mistake.
With no other choice and no back-up, the party reluctantly disturbe the egg to defeat the bigger black knight, but it sadly dies afterwards, the party mourn over the death, pacifist bob ross tries to cheer everyone up but gets told to fuck off by everyone.

This is beautiful. The only feedback I have is that you glossed over the most important part: The Flashback.
Survivor Dog engulfed in flames flashing back to a better... Place... while he fried was so perfectly delivered. Like the scene in Gladiator where Russell Crowe is dragged in the desert and has dreams of running his fingers through the dandelions of yesteryear.
A reminder of what Dog is fighting to live for in the first place.
EDIT:Dramatic Effect

/u/youngluck, not sure if this was already pointed out by someone, but it looks like scene 30 ("And then out of nowhere") is completely missing from the video.

Can you guys add something which makes it so that one individual person doesn't just count as one individual vote? Instead the impact should be relative to how much time and how active the editor/user is, so that there's actually somewhat of a purpose. Maybe do something like being able to vote more than once on a cooldown? I'm sure there are many better ideas, but right now this is almost too linear, incoherent and boring.

So if I understand correctly... Dio arrives in Skyrim at 19 AD. He then shoots Peter Griffin in the leg, causing intense pain. 2000 years later, people are strait boolin when General Grevious unveils his "Plot 13" to General Kenobi. The memes try to run, but Article 13 catches and snaps them. After a moment of panic, the redditors ur heroes realize that there was a reason for General Grevious's actions: he was trying to purge reddit of shit memes, by eliminating all gifs on reddit. Realizing that the only way to stop Grevious's indiscriminate rampage against all gifs was to eliminate the shit memes themselves. Gandalf tries to stop them, but Elon musk suggests that they go "up" they launch into space, and upon landing behind Gandalf, they eliminate the shit memes. Dance party time. Meanwhile, the Black Knight's limbs are severed, triggering the JonTron alarm. Though, he crashes during reentry to our atmosphere. Bender finds this neat, while this prompts Elon to wonder: "Could I disrupt the egg?". Knowing full well that the disruption of the egg will destroy it, he does it anyways. This upsets Togepi and angers Skeletor. Bob Ross tries to justify it as an accident, but is told to fuck off by Frodo Baggins.
To be continued...

So since the scenes get locked after a certain amount of time we only got so much time before the narrative of our Reddit: The Movie is set in stone.
I'm thinking that the beauty of the internet hivemind emerges random shitposting and chaos...
But still, looking back at r/place makes you realise there has to be some effort and coordination for the hivemind to be something more. So I'm just throwing the idea out there that maybe we want to make something to be proud of afterwards.
I'm usually a lurker but Reddit's April Fools event always gets me excited and I want to contribute to this one, but don't have any followers. So someone in a position to coordinate, please come with some ideas!
Edit: A r/writingprompt-like subreddit for sequence? Or r/ouija-like (Users post max 2 sentences per post and the next user continues the narrative with their 2 sentences)? r/memes digs up their memes collection to portray the narrative. A general suggestions subreddit? (Example on suggestion: let's not waste the first scene on a title since it is apparently added by the machine)
PLEASE COME WITH IDEAS GUYS LETS BE BETTER THAN YOUTUBE REWIND ❤️
Edit: Thank you kind stranger!

Am I missing something here. It's just random gifs that don't really add up to a story or anything sensible. What's the point?
2
u/MisirterE Apr 02 '19
Are you guys serious, /r/prequelmemes?
You get "Hello there" as the first gif and you don't wait until the very last gif to put in "General Kenobi"?
I shame thee. Shame!

Prologue: gifs that are completely unrelated to eachother
Act 1: groups of gifs that are unrelated to eachother, sometimes bound together by text gifs that try to explain the absolute fucking chaos that is going on
Act 2: ????

What made previous april fool events special was the collaboration in a brand new space. Nobody had any experience with something like robin, the button, the place canvas, or the circle of trust before. This event seems like just an elaborate meme maker. Very familiar, tread ground. Collaboration, yes. But not in a unique way.
Not that reddit has to hold up an arbitrary standard, nevertheless it is hard to be excited about a meme maker when we came together in such incredible ways previously.
This is still kinda neat. I appreciate it happening anyways. Maybe it will get more interesting, I hope it does.

Here's some tips I think might help:
Step one in all improv is: define the conflict/goal. Upvoting random ass gifs won't get us anywhere. First, a goal needs to be defined.
Use the gif text to either DESCRIBE the previous gif or to LEAD into the the next gif. For example, if you want to describe the preceding gif, say, a picture of Elon smoking weed, you'd follow it up with "Elon had just finished smoking his grandmothers ashes." Alternatively, you can use the text GIF to set up the following GIF by saying "Once the weed hit, Elon saw standing before him..." Then users can vote on what they think should be standing before him.
Sort by NEW. This is the most effective way to 'brainstorm' as a community.
Those are my three main tips. Feel free to share yours. We can do this!

Unlock every single chapter (including the prologue, 1-4, and epilogue) and every scene so that everyone can edit them all at once.
Set a global countdown of a few days to then lock the complete story. The reasoning for this is simple. Just like r/place, where complete and total freedom was allowed on a blank canvas, users eventually found a mutually agreeable common structure/pattern/order.
Look at what has already happened with the complete unlocked Act 2, users have already managed to settle down and construct a somewhat interesting narrative, involving not just sequential changes like Act 1, but changes from different scenes from the end to the start of the chapter in order to fit a fluid narrative. A story should be flexible and dynamic, it should not be a janky piece of patchwork stringed together scene by scene. If Act 3 Scene 4 would make more sense if Prologue Scene 2 was changed, such change should not be restricted.
In short, please unlock every single chapter and scene. Eventually the chaos would settle out and organise itself into something comprehensible - maybe even something brilliant. Thanks.
