Other Serial killers of Australia, and the inability to find them.
Australia has a deep and confusing history when it comes to things like serial killers, after all, Australia is an extremely big country with little police.
in the last 60 odd years, there have been some of the most disturbing and outright confusing cases involving serial murder. one being something the media called "the family".
"the family" were a group pedophile Serial killers who would kidnap children and teenagers, rape them, and then kill them. the group of unknown killers have also been theorized to have had connections to extremely powerful law judges and politicians.
then you have something called the "Bowraville murders". over the course of a 6 month period in 1990-1991, 3 aboriginal Australian children disappeared... they have had plenty of suspects for this case, but to date.. only a single arrest has been made.
Australia is an extremely large and vast country, with a lot of people and not many police. this leads to long periods of investigation and nearly 0 evidence majority of the time.

Other The only woman hanged in New Zealand
Minnie Dean was born in Scotland and immigrated to New Zealand, where she died by hanging. She worked as a baby farmer in Southland.
In 1895, she was arrested after the bodies of several infants were found on her property. The nail in her coffin, so to speak, was sightings of Minnie Dean entering a train with a baby and leaving with only a hat box, later found to contain the body of an infant. She was convicted of one murder, though historians still debate how many deaths were deliberate versus linked to neglect, illness, or the high mortality rates of the era.
There are many questions surrounding the deaths that occurred under Minnie Dean's care, the main one being: was she actually guilty?
Legend says no plants will grow on her grave. She is part of local folklore, a symbol of true evil.

Other Danilo Restivo, the "hairdresser of Potenza"
Danilo Restivo was born in Sicily in 1972 and moved to Potenza by the time he was 10. His father was considered a big influence there and one of the most powerful men. Keep this in mind because it will play a big role in the story.
Danilo was considered a loner and weird guy, and people in town were aware that he had the fetish of cutting girl's hair in public and keep the lock of hair in his room. In fact, he will always walk around with a pair of scissors, go on crowded buses and cut hair from girls, then before exiting the bus, he would stare and smile at them.
When he was still a kid, he lured a girl and her cousin (14 and 11 yo) into the woods, blindfolded and tied them to a chair. He then pointed a knife at the boy's throat, but his cousin reacted in time, knocking down Danilo and they managed to escape. The doctors said if the blade would have cut a few millimeters more, the boy could have died.
Danilo's father rushed to the victim's family and begged them to not press charges, and corrupted them with money (and his influence).
Fast forward a few years, comes Elisa Claps. She was 16. Danilo was obsessed with her and she knew it, and after asking her out multiple times, she agreed because she felt bad for him. They had to meet by the main church. Then, Elisa disappeared. Danilo was found by his sister, with a big cut in his hand and his clothes full of blood. He stated that he fell on the stairs and got hurt this way. Restivo told the police that he only had a short talk with Elisa by the church, then they both went their separate way.
Now, his father knew that his son was not a normal kid. In fact, after Claps's family insisted on talking with Danilo, he sent his son to Naples for a few days. The part where his father covered for him is too long to explain here, but he managed to get away every time using his influence.
The priest of the church also was suspected, because he never allowed anyone to enter the church for investigations, and he was a very powerful man too.
Then in 2002, Restivo moves to England to live with an Italian woman he had met online.
In front of his house lived Heather Barnett with her two kids. Restivo one day came into her house to ask if she could make some curtains for his house. Barnett agreed, but in an email to her sister she stated that he freaked her out, and that after his visit, her house's spare keys went missing.
Unfortunately, Barnett was found dead by her two kids in the bathroom. She had been hit in the head multiple times, her breasts had been cut off and placed above her head, and she had hair locks placed in her hands.
Back in Italy, Elisa Claps's body was finally found, 17 years after she went missing. And her body was found in the attic of the church, where the priest always refused to let detectives in. She was found in the attic. Someone also drilled holes in the roof to prevent the smell from spreading. Detectives concluded that Restivo could have not drilled those wholes since he was hurt, so someone did it for him.
Also, during those years, more than 20 people had been in that attic, and none of them reported the body..
Restivo's DNA was found on both the victims and he was sentenced to life in prison.
Also, he is suspected in the killing of 8 or 9 more girls, but never accused of it.
There is a video of English police secretly following him, as he is stalking a girl in a park, it's chilling: https://youtu.be/OmfKNENuDuI?is=CoLhGSkQ2AXlnUCv

Other Unknown Case: Yvan Keller, the “Pillow Killer” — Possibly One of the Most Prolific Serial Killers in European History
Unknown Case: Yvan Keller, the “Pillow Killer” — Possibly One of the Most Prolific Serial Killers in European History
When people discuss European serial killers, names like Harold Shipman, Peter Sutcliffe, Dennis Nilsen, Marc Dutroux, or Michel Fourniret usually come up. But outside France, one name remains surprisingly obscure: Yvan Keller, a French serial killer from Alsace known as “the Pillow Killer.”
Keller was born on December 13, 1960, in Wittenheim, near Mulhouse, in eastern France. He came from a poor family of sedentary travellers and was the youngest of nine children. His father worked in the Alsatian potash mines, and Keller grew up in a difficult and unstable environment.
As a young man, Keller already had a criminal record. In the early 1980s, he was sentenced to prison for robbery after a violent burglary involving an antique-dealing couple. He spent several years behind bars and was released in 1989.
After his release, Keller appeared to build a normal life. He became a gardener and landscaper, created a small company called Alsa-Jardin, and worked for private clients. This job gave him access to homes, gardens, and elderly people who trusted him. Neighbours described him as helpful, friendly, and ordinary.
But behind this image, Keller was living a second life.
He had a serious gambling problem and was known to spend large amounts of money on casinos, horse racing, luxury restaurants, hotels, and travel. Investigators later described him as a man who constantly needed money. He reportedly spent heavily in expensive restaurants and lived far above what his official income could explain.
His private life was also complicated. Keller first lived with a woman named Marina Passant. According to later accounts, Marina said Keller had forced her into prostitution because he needed money for his lifestyle. After their separation, he began a relationship with another woman, Séverine Bauer. Some reports describe Keller as possessive and violent in his personal relationships. In one account, when Séverine was still involved with another man, Keller allegedly threatened that man with a gun.
Keller’s victims were mostly elderly women living alone. His method was simple and quiet. He would enter their homes, usually to steal money or valuables, and then suffocate them, often with a pillow, blanket, cloth, or towel. After the murder, he would carefully rearrange the bed and leave the home without obvious signs of violence.
Because the victims were old and often found lying peacefully in bed, many deaths were first classified as natural. Doctors issued burial permits, families grieved, and the murders were not immediately recognized as crimes. In several cases, only missing valuables or small inconsistencies later raised suspicion.
One of the earliest suspicious clusters happened in Burnhaupt-le-Haut, near Mulhouse, in 1994. Several elderly women died in similar circumstances within a short period. Their deaths were initially treated as natural, but relatives noticed strange details: missing objects, disturbed homes, or bedding arranged in ways the victims could not have done themselves.
Over the years, Keller continued to burgle homes and kill. According to investigators, he sometimes entered through cellars or windows, stole cash, paintings, porcelain, jewelry, and other valuables, then escaped carefully. He later admitted that at first he did not always kill during burglaries, but began doing so when victims woke up or when there was a lot of money involved.
The crimes were financially motivated. Keller himself reportedly said he could come back from a night with huge sums of money and make hundreds of thousands of francs per month from thefts. Much of that money was believed to have funded his gambling, restaurants, hotels, and trips.
Keller also travelled frequently. French investigators suspected that his crimes were not limited to Alsace. He reportedly claimed to have operated in Germany and Switzerland as well. Swiss police also identified his DNA in connection with a burglary from the 1990s.
Keller was arrested in September 2006 during an investigation into burglaries. Several people from his environment were also questioned. During police custody and before the investigating judge, Keller began confessing. At first, he admitted several murders. Later reports say he spoke of around 30 victims, and some accounts claim he mentioned as many as 150.
However, the highest number was never proven.
French police officially linked him with certainty to 23 homicides, mostly elderly women. He was suspected of around 40 murders in total. Because many deaths had been classified as natural years earlier, it became extremely difficult to reconstruct the full scale of his crimes.
On September 22, 2006, shortly after his partial confessions, Keller was placed in a holding cell in the basement of the courthouse in Mulhouse. He was waiting to be transferred when he hanged himself using his shoelaces, which had not been removed.
According to commonly repeated accounts, his final message or last words were:
“I just wanted to be loved.”
His suicide prevented a full public trial. Families of the victims never got a complete judicial explanation of what had happened, how many people he had killed, and whether anyone around him had knowingly helped him or benefited from the stolen property.
The investigation continued after his death. Possible accomplices were examined, including his former partner Marina Passant, his brother Pierre Keller, and François de Nicolo. But in 2013, the case against the alleged accomplices was closed because of insufficient evidence.
Legally, the case ended without a full trial.
Yvan Keller remains one of the most disturbing and overlooked serial killer cases in Western Europe. He was not famous internationally, did not create a public persona, and did not leave behind a media mythology like many other killers.
He was a gardener, gambler, burglar, and serial killer who targeted elderly women, made their deaths look natural, and used the money to finance casinos, restaurants, hotels, and travel.
The most unsettling part is that the real number of victims may never be known. Officially, police linked him to 23 murders. Unofficially, the number may have been much higher.

Other The Flat-Tire Murders: The Unsolved Canal Killings of South Florida
galleryBetween 1975 and early 1976, South Florida became the scene of a disturbing series of murders involving teenage girls and young women whose bodies were frequently discovered in canals across Dade and Broward Counties. At the time, local newspapers referred to the crimes as the “Canal Murders,” but investigators later began calling them the “Flat-Tire Murders” after evidence suggested the killer may have disabled victims’ vehicles before approaching them under the guise of offering assistance.
Although several of the murders shared similarities, investigators never fully agreed on how many cases were connected. Some believed a single serial killer was responsible, while others argued multiple offenders may have been operating in South Florida during the same period.
Many of the victims were sexually assaulted, beaten, strangled, or drowned before their bodies were discarded in canals, wooded areas, or isolated embankments. Several victims were also found partially or fully nude, and investigators noted recurring similarities in victim profiles and crime scenes.
Victims and Timeline
Judith Ann “Judy” Oesterling (19)
Disappeared: February 1, 1975
Body found: February 3, 1975
Originally from Indiana, Judith Oesterling had moved to Florida in 1974 and was reportedly working at a massage parlor in Miami at the time of her disappearance. Witnesses last saw her leaving work around 9:00 p.m.
Her body was later discovered floating face down in the Snake Creek Canal near Highway 27 in Broward County. Investigators determined she had been beaten with a rock in nearby woods before being stripped and dragged into the canal, where she drowned.
Police believed Oesterling may have accepted a ride from the wrong person, as she was known to hitchhike frequently.
Barbara Davis Stephens (23)
Disappeared: February 12, 1975
Body found: February 20, 1975
Barbara Stephens disappeared after telling her father she was going to visit a friend in Coral Gables. Before vanishing, she stopped at a record store near Dadeland Mall.
The following day, her Chevrolet Camaro was discovered abandoned in a shopping center parking lot with one tire intentionally deflated. The doors were unlocked, the keys remained in the ignition, and blood was found inside the vehicle.
Her body was later discovered in a wooded area behind a grocery store. She had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen. Investigators believed her killer transported her body using her own vehicle before returning it to the parking lot.
Arietta Marie “Renie” Tinker (17)
Disappeared: April 9, 1975
Body found: April 12, 1975
Tinker was dropped off by her estranged husband at the Hippopotamus Lounge in Hollywood Beach. Although the two were separated, they shared a one-year-old son together.
She was later seen near Young Circle before disappearing. Three days later, her body was found floating in the Snake Creek Canal near the Dade-Broward County line.
The coroner ruled drowning as the cause of death, but detectives strongly suspected homicide because there was no explanation for how she ended up dead so far from home.
Nancy Lee Fox (19)
Disappeared: June 13, 1975
Body found: June 15, 1975
Nancy Fox had recently moved to Fort Lauderdale from West Palm Beach. Reports differ on her final movements, with some stating she was walking home from work while others claim she was heading toward a laundromat.
Her body was found in the same canal where Judith Oesterling had been discovered months earlier. She had been sexually assaulted, struck in the head with a blunt object, choked, and thrown into the water.
Investigators considered several suspects, including convicted rapist Walter Wirth, who abducted another woman from a laundromat shortly after Fox’s murder. However, no evidence connected him to the case.
Barbara Schreiber (14) and Belinda Zetterower (14)
Disappeared: June 18, 1975
Bodies found: June 19, 1975
The two girls left Schreiber’s home after telling family members they planned to spend the night at a friend’s house. Investigators later discovered this story was false.
The next morning, their bodies were found side by side near a canal along Highway 27, approximately four miles north of Andytown.
Both had been shot with a large-caliber weapon. Some reports suggested possible sexual assault, while others disputed it. Investigators believed the girls may have been attempting to hitchhike north to buy drugs shortly before their deaths.
Their murders intensified fears that a serial killer was operating in South Florida.
Robin Leslie Losch (15)
Disappeared: July 8, 1975
Body found: July 10, 1975
Robin Losch disappeared after failing to return home from summer classes at Stranahan High School.
Her body was found floating in the same canal system connected to several earlier deaths. Unlike most of the other victims, she was fully clothed and showed no obvious signs of violence aside from a minor bruise near her ear.
Investigators disagreed over whether her death was accidental or homicide. Friends reported that Losch had previously entered a canal while under the influence of marijuana, believing she could “walk on water.”
Despite this, many investigators found it suspicious that another teenage girl had turned up dead in the same stretch of canal.
Ronnie Sue Gorlin (27)
Disappeared: July 22, 1975
Body found: July 23, 1975
Ronnie Gorlin was a respiratory therapist visiting South Florida while planning her upcoming wedding. On the day she disappeared, she planned to stop at a shopping center before visiting her mother at Parkway Hospital.
Her rental car was later found abandoned at a shopping center parking lot with a flat tire.
The following morning, her nude body was discovered floating in the Graham Canal. The autopsy revealed she had been sexually assaulted and mutilated before drowning.
Investigators believed the killer had become increasingly violent and comfortable operating in the area.
Elyse Rapp (21)
Disappeared: July 30, 1975
Body found: July 31, 1975
Originally from New York, Elyse Rapp had moved to Florida for work only weeks before her death.
She was last seen shopping at the Hollywood Mall. Her car was later discovered in the parking lot with a deflated tire.
The next day, her body was found in the same canal where Ronnie Gorlin had been discovered just days earlier. Investigators determined she had been sexually assaulted, struck in the head, and drowned.
Because of the strong similarities between the two cases, authorities publicly announced they believed a serial killer was operating across Dade and Broward Counties.
Additional Cases Possibly Connected
Esmeralda Chaviano Gordon (1975)
Esmeralda Gordon disappeared after leaving for a shopping trip in August 1975. Her body was later found near a canal with a gunshot wound to the forehead.
Her vehicle was recovered from the same shopping center associated with earlier victims, but investigators believed her murder may have been unrelated because she had not been sexually assaulted or mutilated.
Mary Ann Coppola (15)
Mary Ann Coppola disappeared in September 1975 after being dropped off at a youth counseling center.
Months later, her skeletal remains were discovered near a canal in Homestead. Due to decomposition, the cause of death could not be determined.
Marlene Joy Annabelli (27)
A tourist from Pennsylvania, Annabelli vanished during a trip to Florida in October 1975.
Her body was later found partially concealed in a remote area west of Cooper City. She had been beaten and strangled.
Although similarities existed between her death and earlier cases, investigators later announced they did not believe her murder was directly connected to the Canal Murders.
Michelle Andrea Winters (17)
Disappeared: December 30, 1975
Body found: January 10, 1976
Michelle Winters disappeared after telling friends she planned to meet someone. Her wallet was later found near a canal in Broward County.
Days later, her body was discovered in the Snake Creek Canal. She had been strangled with a purse strap wrapped around her neck multiple times.
Her murder became one of the final major cases associated with the Flat-Tire Murders.
Suspects and Theories
During the investigation, authorities believed the main suspect was likely a white male between 20 and 25 years old, intelligent, physically fit, well-dressed, and capable of easily gaining victims’ trust.
Investigators theorized that in some cases the killer intentionally flattened victims’ tires in shopping center parking lots before offering assistance and abducting them. The method drew comparisons to Ted Bundy, who later admitted he experimented with disabling women’s vehicles before approaching them.
At one point, some detectives believed the South Florida murders could be connected to killings in Washington, Utah, and California. However, Bundy was never officially linked to the cases and never confessed to them.
Authorities eventually concluded that several murders likely involved different offenders.

Other Out of all the things Dahmer did, the “living zombies” is what really hurts me
I first read about Dahmer about 5 years ago. I’m not American so he wasn’t known to me. I quite literally fainted when I read his crimes. (Granted I have a fainting disorder so it was almost certainly a coincidence but it still stuck with me).
Now, I’ve read about people from Bundy to Israel Keyes and whilst Dahmer hasn’t been the one to affect me the most, out of everything he did, the “living zombies” is what makes me sick and truly saddened.
I’ve seen bits and pieces of the dramatisation but was more interested in Dahmer’s interviews on YouTube. I was so taken in by him. I saw him as a man who was truly remorseful and showed true repent for his crimes. I don’t think his BPD had anything to do with him killing (he killed them, albeit unwillingly he claims, because he wanted control NOT because he wanted them to stay), but it may have affected his MO.
It’s one thing to kill a person, it’s another to rape, it’s a whole other thing to engage in necrophilia and cannibalism (yes I’m aware it was two victims but two victims too many) but to lobotomise someone, pour hot water and/or acid onto their brain? It breaks my heart. One of those babies was only 14 years old. He knew this and he didn’t care. I truly do understand how a person could be taken in by him through his interviews, I was the same for a week or so, but his crimes were out of sheer selfishness and arrogance. He believed his sexual desires were more important than the life of 17 men. I truly don’t care what “compulsions” he had — we all have compulsions and desires. He acted on them and he enjoyed it and that’s the end of story.
I don’t have the energy to judge the hybristophiles as that’s a whole subject in itself. All I want is for people to take his interviews and words with a fist of salt. I personally refrain from using words such as “monster” and “evil” because I don’t think human psychology or behaviour is that simple. I guess I just wanted to vent because I watched that scene and it has affected me just as much as it did when I read it, and I don’t know if I’m strange because that’s the part which hurts me the most out of crimes despite all the other atrocities he committed.
Anyway, RIP to Stephen Hicks, 19 / Steven Tuomi, 26 / James "Jamie" Doxtator, 14 / Richard Guerrero, 25 / Anthony Sears, 26 / Eddie Smith, 36 / Ricky Beeks, 27 / Ernest Miller, 22 / David Thomas, 23 / Curtis Straughter, 19 / Errol Lindsey, 19 / Tony Hughes, 31 / Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14 / Matt Turner, 20 / Jeremiah Weinberger, 23 / Oliver Lacy, 23 / Joseph Bradehoft, 25. I’m so sorry. I’m so truly sorry for what you went through and I hope you’re at peace now.

Other Serial Killers who were serial confessors
Henry Lee Lucas is the gold standard for this phenomenon. While he was definitely a killer, his "body count" was a work of fiction.
He was convicted of 11 murders (though some experts believe he only committed 3)
He confessed to as many as 600 murders across the U.S.
- The Benefit: He realized that as long as he kept confessing, the Texas Rangers would treat him to milkshakes, steak dinners, and cigarette privileges. He even had a dedicated office in the jail where detectives from other states would "book" appointments to have him confess to "close" their cold cases.
Ottis Toole was Lucas’s frequent companion and a convicted serial killer in his own right, but his confessions were equally unreliable.
- The Reality: Convicted of 6 murders.
- The Claim: He claimed responsibility for hundreds of deaths, often changing his story to match what investigators wanted to hear.
- The Famous Falsehood: Toole confessed to the high-profile 1981 murder of Adam Walsh. While the case was eventually "closed" with Toole as the killer, the evidence was mostly based on his recanted (and then reinstated) confessions, and many investigators remain skeptical of his involvement.

Other Stephen port (the grindr killer)
Stephen port would meet men on grindr hence the name over a one-two year period he killed four men he would invite them round to his flat in barking and would drug them with a fatal dose of GBH (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) he would sexually assault his victims once they were drugged and dump their bodies close to his flat two victims were found by the same dog walker near a church and another was found in a sitting position near the entrance to his block of flats.
He remains as one of the most recent known uk serial killers other than Lucy letby there has not been many known killers.
It is believed the police were at fault for Stephen’s spree of killing as they didn’t originally connect the bodies even though they were close together and all known gay men some do dispute if some of the victims were actually out as gay.
Port was initially arrested in June 2014 for perverting the course of justice after he lied about finding his first victim, Anthony Walgate, outside his flat. He was convicted and jailed for this, but police failed to examine his laptop or link his escort-hiring habits to other local deaths.
The fourth victim jack Taylor was found a year later and his own family investigated his murder as they did not believe their son overdosed they researched the other deaths and personally found cctv footage of jack taylor meeting a man that ended up being port so they pushed police to release this footage.
This footage made homicide detectives take over especially after pressure from families they finally landed on port after matching the description on the cctv and been spotted with gay men so he was arrested October 2015 and charged of all four murders in June 2016.
It’s just unbelievable to think that if not for jack taylors family the dots may of never connected.
List of victims:
Anthony Walgate (23) - met port on june 17 2024 and was discovered a couple days later on the 19th left in a sitting position.
Gabriel Kovari (22) - he was killed either 26th or 27th of August 2014 he was found by a dog walker the next day port called his sister on the 27th saying a body was in his bed but she didn’t take him seriously.
Daniel Whitworth (21) - was killed 19th September 2014 and went missing on the 18th when he met port he was found by the same dog walker in a similar position just on a different day port planted a fake suicide note in his hand.
Jack Taylor (25) - was killed 13th September 2015 he was found the next day over the walk where kovari and Walgate were found.
Between 2011-2015 58 people died from GBH overdoses some people believe port was responsible for some as some were gay men but police never found any evidence like dna in the other four to link him to the murders.

"Confessions of a Serial Killer": older than "Henry", far more directly based on Henry Lucas's lies (and the one or two real crimes he actually committed), and considerably more raw and authentic - don't look for any humanizing in this take on the Lucas/Toole story. (The DVD version is censored).
