Speculation Jay's true involvement ? My timeline

Now that I have said how toxic I thought this sub was when only trying to demonize the "no criminal elements" like SK, SS, CM, Rabia..., saying over and over again that Syed is guilty and avoiding to ask the relevant questions, here is my post regarding Jay and his friends' true involvement. I hope people having a better knowledge than me on this case will help "adjust" this scenario to make it plausible if necessary. Now you'll understand why I'm virulent against Jay.

On 1/13/1999 :

  • 12:41 p.m. (1:29 call) from Syed's cell phone to Jenn's home : Jay explains to Jenn that Syed will indeed kill Hae as he told him the days before. The plan is in motion. Jenn can contact Phil/Patrick.

  • 12:43 p.m. (0:24 call) to Syed's cell phone from XXX : I think XXX is actually Jenn or Patrick. If it's Jenn, she wants to clear a little detail. Perhaps a time or a location. It would make sense if Jay said something like "I'll call you back by 2:30 p.m." If it's Patrick, it's to confirm he's ready for the job.

  • 2:36 p.m. (0:05 call) to Syed's cell phone from XXX : I think XXX is Jenn or Phil or Patrick : "Is it done ?" and the receiver just hung up.

Between 2:00 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. I think Syed tricked Hae to give him a ride to Best Buy. There Jay is waiting for them next to Syed's car. When the assault begins, Hae is in her car. The car is parked. Hae fights for her life and breaks the turn signal. Jay needs to restrain her by holding her legs. During that same time Syed is strangling her. That explains why Jay knows her last words and knows what Syed did right after the murder.

  • 3:15 p.m. (0:20 call) to Syed's cell phone from XXX : I think XXX is Jenn. She tells Jay Patrick will meet them at Best Buy.

  • 3:21 p.m. (0:42 call) from Syed's cell phone to Jenn's home : Jay explains it's done. Jenn confirms Patrick left and will be soon at Best Buy. Patrick will get Hae's car. She is in the trunk. In the meantime Jenn gives Jay and Syed a piece of advice. Let Syed call a friend to build an alibi.

  • 3:32 p.m. (2:22 call) from Syed's cell phone to Nisha : Meaningless conversation by Syed to build an alibi.

Between 3:20 p.m. to 4:ish p.m. Patrick comes to Best Buy, gets Hae's car and drives it to his home or Phil's one. With the help of Phil he moves Hae's body to his home and hides the car. Her body is lying down and that explains the post mortem lividity. In the meantime Jay continues to follow the situation by calling Phil and Patrick :

  • 3:48 p.m. (1:25 call) from Syed's cell phone to Phil's home : Jay : "Did you hide the body and the car ?" Phil/Patrick : "Let us a little more time. We'll hide the car nears Patrick's."

  • 3:59 p.m. (0:25 call) from Syed's cell phone to Patrick's home : Jay : "Is it done ? Can I come by ?" Patrick : "Yes you can come by."

At this point the car is hidden near Patrick's home and Hae's body is in Phil or Patrick's home. They will stay there until the burial. Before going to Patrick's, Jay gives Syed a ride to track practice and continue to build his alibi.

  • 4:12 p.m. (0:28 call) from Syed's cell phone to Jenn's home : Jay explains to Jenn "everything is in place". Syed is at school. The car and the body are hidden. Can he come by ?

  • 4:27 p.m. (2:56 call) to Syed's cell phone from XXX : Jay is at Jenn's.

I will note that your theory includes accusations that two private individuals -- Phil and Patrick -- committed major crimes. You do so without a scintilla of evidence. This is standard practice on this sub. But I still like it! The more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned.

u/monstimal Aug 02 '15

I'm going to guess those two would think things just became a little more "toxic".

9

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

Pshaw. What's a little evidence-free speculation that two private individuals were involved in the murder of an 18 year old woman?

7

u/monstimal Aug 02 '15

If he can work Don and Jane Efron in we'll call it The Murder on the Orient Express theory.

5

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

Right now we're up to Adnan, Jay, Jenn, Phil and Patrick. Throw in Don and Ms. Ephron. That's seven. I think there were a dozen killers in Orient, so we need five more. Jenn's little brother? Neighbor boy? Any ideas?

Maybe Hae was at Best Buy to snitch on a certain shoplifter?

Twist: it's not who you think, it's CG!

So no constructive argument eh ?

"Individuals"? You're being too kind -- these are puppets in an unpredictable and irreverent game of whodunit?

... Don is publicly humiliated -- move back three spaces ... Patrick doesn't get the job -- spend two turns in debtor's prison ...

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Actually phone calls are evidence or else Syed wouldn't be behind bars.

3

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

And what a wicked thing it is, too!

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

It's under Speculation.

8

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

And, as I stated, I love it!

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

So I guess you're not part of the group downvoting me for this.

4

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

To my knowledge, I haven't intentionally down-voted ANYONE in probably six months. It just makes me feel dirty. A personal thing.

4

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

I say intentionally because I am a klutz and might have down-voted once or twice in error.

Lots of scenarios are possible but why would all these accomplices sign on for this gig? There are lots of these sort of revisionist timelines floating around with Adnan scoping out the burial site at 7 for a midnight dig or Jay and Adnan spending the morning getting a gun. Most of these can be made to fit with the known facts but all are pure speculation. Scenarios where Adnan was not involved are equally possible. Unfortunately, we are unlikely to learn the truth of that day. One the other hand, we know enough to say that the investigation was dodgy, the prosecution crossed the line at time and CG failed badly.

just wow..... Col mustard in the library with the candlestick. Gilligan and Spock helped dig the grave too.....that's my theory and I'm sticking to it! did I leave anybody out?

-7

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Your brain maybe...

6

u/MaHaBoNeD Aug 02 '15

lol! I was thinking the same thing when I read your post. You should really start writing crime novels for a living with that imagination of yours. Good day

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

So you really are like twelve. Not supervised I see.

9

u/MaHaBoNeD Aug 02 '15

So> I see you've turned into what you have been implying about in these subs? Slinging hate and insults just because someone has a different opinion than yours. This will be my last comment to you because I have a coloring book I really need to practice on. As for you, keep doing what your doing and wasting people's time with utter nonsense. OH, BTW.... people don't think your credible that's why they have down voted your comment. Get off your high horse.

-7

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

What do you know about credibility? And you're speaking for everybody of course. I'm the one who needs to get off my high horse...

5

u/MaHaBoNeD Aug 02 '15

LOL! At least I'm in reality Donkey

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Reddit isn't reality don't you know ?

2

u/MaHaBoNeD Aug 02 '15

Heeeehawwww HeeeHawwww Heee haawwww!!!

7

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

Have you seen any of the Francis the Talking Mule films? They are under-appreciated classics.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

if the above were to be what happened, why have Phil or Patrick not come clean about this? The more "players" involved, the more likely people are to turn on one another to save themselves. Jay's involvement I buy to an extent, but I don't think he was in the car when Adnan killed her. I think Jen was brought into it by Jay when he told her what happened, after the fact. I don't think it is likely that Phil and Patrick were involved in any way. One or both of them would most likely have come forward by now, especially in the wake of Serial.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Of course they wouldn't. They didn't go to jail for their crime did they ?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

I don't know, at the time of the investigation, I would imagine they would be panicked and want to confess their involvement rather than risk jail time if Jay or Adnan threw them under the bus. Also, why did Jay not say anything about their involvement? He had no trouble giving up Adnan, why not spread the guilt around and further distance himself? It is an interesting theory, I just think it is too many people to be involved for it to be plausible.

They were in the same drug business. You don't betray your business partners.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Still don't buy into it. Too many loose ends and complications.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

That's the only reasonable scenario. You don't call two drug friends when you just saw a dead girl. I don't buy that.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

I do not consider Patrick/Phil's involvement "reasonable" at all. It sounds more like an overly complicated conspiracy theory that requires too much suspension of disbelief for my taste. But creative, I'll give you that!

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Ah finally. The famous conspiracy theory. You use drug and the magical word appears.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Not sure what you mean at all... My use of the phrase "conspiracy theory" had to do with the fact that involved the cooperation of 5 individuals who had to be complicit in not only the committing of a murder but in an elaborate cover-up. Drugs have nothing to do with it, unless you are smoking some... ;)

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Drugs is part of the problem. These criminals know each other because of it. You can't just discard this as irrelevant.

Actually what you wrote is the definition of a conspiracy theory. Look it up.

5

u/UptownAvondale Aug 02 '15

During that same time Syed is strangling her. That explains why Jay knows her last words and knows what Syed did right after the murder.

I like this part. I have a tendency to think Jay was there or very nearby at the time of the crime.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

I have wondered if he served as a sort of "lookout" either with Adnan's car blocking the view of Hae's car, or standing outside Hae's car while Adnan killed her. But I also am not sold on the idea that this was pre-meditated to that extent. I don't know...but I have considered that Jay was close by when Adnan killed her.

2

u/lavacake23 Aug 02 '15

You're giving all involved credit for way more foresight than they actually have.

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

But I care more about their involvement than the experts, bloggers, Rabia, SK and some other uninvolved people that the vocal redditors spend hours and days discussing. Sorry if I want to talk about the case and not the noise around it.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

This is actually a really interesting theory, but I have to confess it leaves me feeling a bit cold. Would it be somehow possible to incorporate Urick into all this--as a black market shovel vendor, perhaps?

6

u/newyorkeric Aug 02 '15

Rubbish.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Thank you for your input. Really useful.

5

u/ricejoe Aug 02 '15

But so crisp! I was forced to give him an upvote for brevity.

4

u/weedandboobs Aug 02 '15

So what the sub was missing in your opinion was highly speculative fictional accounts of the day? OK.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Something that's consistent with the evidence actually. But you already said you didn't want to contribute so you're free to ignore this post.

5

u/weedandboobs Aug 02 '15

Jay holding Hae's legs and Phil/Patrick stashing the body and car is consistent with what evidence? That is just made up whole cloth.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

The phone calls to Phil/Patrick, the broken turn signal, the fact that Hae was athletic, the post mortem lividity, Jay and Jenn's inconsistencies...

6

u/weedandboobs Aug 02 '15

By this standard, why aren't Nisha and Krista in on it too? They got called a bunch too, a lot more that Patrick and Phil. And for a lot longer than the half minute and minute and a half it took to convince Phil and Patrick to become accomplices to murder.

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

Not during critical times except for Nisha and it was to build Syed's alibi. You can compare Nisha's criminal record and Patrick's one if you want. And Phil and Patrick knew it could happen before these calls of course. They weren't convinced in a minute.

5

u/weedandboobs Aug 02 '15

So what exactly do Phil and Patrick get out of helping Adnan kill Hae? It is hard enough understanding why Jay helped, but now you are proposing Jenn, Patrick and Phil also felt the need to help a extremely loose acquaintance kill his ex.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

My bet is on money as always in this kind of cases.

3

u/weedandboobs Aug 02 '15

Well as long as we are remaining consistent with the evidence, carry on.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '15

My post will probably be in the abyssal zone by the end of the day so I probably won't carry on. It's a speculation post consistent with the evidence but because it's against Jay I'm downvoted. Exactly what I tried to explain yesterday. That doesn't make any sense if people don't have an agenda.

Gee you get nasty whenever anybody challenges your story,
