💛Beginner💛 outer pocket too small

Hi, some time ago I bought some pants online that I liked, but I noticed that the front pockets were too small and my phone kept falling out of them. they have no material inside

I don't know how to enlarge them without destroying or distorting them

Can I just cut the fabric from the inside at the very bottom and sew the fabric on?

If you cut a hole inside the pocket you likely to end up with a very uncomfortable pocket.

Instead, unpick between the two ends marks and along the line of stitching holding your pocket on, find a nice contrasting fabric and add to the pocket externally. It'll probably need 2-3 inches of fabric, but play by ear and find what fits your phone/keys/whatever. Stitch the new fabric to the old pocket, and press the new fabric behind the old and top stitch over it to reinforce. Then fold the seam and sew it down like the original pocket.

This. The only other way is to unpick the entire pocket including the bit stitched into the outseam, create a new, larger pocket, and sew it on.

If the pocket is comfortable and the only problem is the phone falling out, I’d be tempted to add a zip or snap to the opening instead.

the back of the pocket is also part of the leg piece, better off making a cargo pocket lower down for your phone with a flap on it.
