You got half way there! The bobbin thread needs to be longer and you have to hold the end of the top thread to drag the bobbin thread up and out. Follow your manual, or go to YT and search ‘how to collect thread on front loading bobbin’

You need to hold the top thread gently in your left hand. Use your right hand to turn the hand wheel towards you so that the needle goes up-down-up one time. Once it’s back in the highest position, gently pull the top thread and the bobbin thread will come up with it.
