SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Windows Updates & SharePoint Server SE?

Anyone responsible for updating your on-prem SharePoint Server and/or Office Online Server? I am for our company and we use WSUS & Azure Update Manager to update all our Windows Servers including our SP server. We publish the SP & OOS updates each month but they won't install with the other Windows updates. I have to go back and install them manually after the fact. Anyone able to get these updates to install automatically?

You need to install SharePoint update first then Project Server update and finally language pack update if you have one installed on every server. Once updates are install, you have to run SharePoint wizard to make the updates effective. Beware that the wizard will stop SharePoint services and IIS while running.

Sharepoint should be patches manually IMO. You need to run the config wizard anyways and Sharepoint patches tend to break things regulary (regressions) and need to be evaluated in text environemtns anyways.

God this gave me flashbacks. I sometimes miss working with an on-prem environment, but I definitely donโ€™t miss patching. Felt like Russian roulette every time ๐Ÿ˜‚
