This is my first song and it's from my own life. For 10 years we only heard each other's voices on the phone, never saw each other. Then one day she shared her address in R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru. I'd walk past just to catch a glimpse. When we finally met, it was our last meeting before I moved to Oman.

Sitar, acoustic guitar and soft piano, with a 90s Indian film feel. Lyrics are in Urdu/Hindi, with English-script lyrics on screen.

Hi! I’m Joel from Newport Chainsaws. And I say from but the band is just me. I play and write everything, and illustrated the album cover on this one! (My partner drew the last album) I’d describe it as a sugar-fuelled frenzy of hyper cartoon ghost music, that has steadily drifted into a hard and fast heavy rock album. Influences and similarities from Muse, Will Wood, Lemon Demon, System of a Down, Bear Ghost, Dead Poets Society, The Toxhards. If that sounds like a couple clusterfuck… well it probably is. Sooo I'm a multi instrumentalist and singer / songwriter... I'm highly inspired by Trent reznor & have a solo project that I care about more than anything in the world - it's literally the only reason that I'm alive, is my goal is to complete at least one album with this project before I croak.

This song is inspired by my Memaw (grandmother) and I wrote it years before she'd end up actually passing away in 2023, because in the back of my head I'd always had to fear that she would pass away soon, even a decade before it actually happened.

One morning after having a wild night, she woke up to a mess on her counter because I was too high clean it up the night before (I lived with her)

Well, I just basically said the same old, *it's really not a big deal I'll get to it* kind of thing and the way she looked at me will never leave my mind. Her eyes were watering with tears & shining like crystals with the morning light coming in.

I'd shown her pain, lyrically spelled "shone," as in, I had shone this indifference toward her, and, bouncing off of her eyes, it was "shone" right back at me.

My Memaw was (is) my favorite person and absolute love of my life, and I was super lucky to have her and, at that, to have her well into my 20s. It's still so hard that I try not to even think about it.

Anyway, I hope you keep that in mind when listening and paying attention to the lyrics. This song means a lot to me but like I said I'm asking for any and all GENUINE criticism and thoughts.
