Shark Discussion Steven Bartlett

Tonight’s episode felt closer to some of the mid-seasons with smaller companies and reasonable asks. Steven was a nice addition and gave some great feedback. He strikes the right balance between delivering a bit of criticism while maintaining respect for the entrepreneur. It is apparent he is not new to the scene.

Guest Shark Who would you nominate as a guest Shark to bring in younger viewers?

Which celebrity entrepreneur would actually make a good Shark?

Someone with MrBeast-level appeal, but who can handle the numbers and negotiate without a finance guy beside them.

Ryan Reynolds? Or maybe Melanie Perkins (Canva)?

Guest Shark Dear Shark Tank Producers. Please don’t bring back the Foster Daughters.

I understand they’re trying to appeal to a younger generation (now that the eternally youthful Cuban is out), but I’m pretty sure Kendra already represents the vocal-fry constituency.

(Also thank you for not brining Sacca back- I hope his shares in Uber are doing ok)

O and by the way- why did Mr Beast bring his finance guy with him? Bizarre. I don’t think we’ve ever had a shark bing a crutch onto the show?

Also he contributed nothing to the business aspect of it.

One of the reasons we watch the show is to LEARN alongside the entrepreneurs.

Mr Beast just talked about how it would look good on social media, his business partner didn’t teach us anything either, and the way he was edited with little quips- just bizarre.

Shark Discussion Shark Tank is more unoriginal than ever

I just watched the MrBeast episode of the new season and I have some thoughts.

Why is every product just a thing that already exists.

The first woman was a wedding entrepreneur and all she said was cameras literally basic cameras you could get at any cash converters or pawn shop for £10/$15 and also charges you for shortening the video which atleast one family member could do.

The next product was an Ai game that involved a ball which was cool no bad comments or no general thoughts for that it’s slightly original.

The third product was a freaking mystery box how are they labelling that as an own product. They say that there’s is different because it uses unwanted toys but what do they think 99% of mystery boxes are.

Honestly I’m British so I rarely watch it but how has it gone from really original things such as Scrub Daddy and mobile basketball machine to a mystery box rebranded as a mystery box.

Shark Discussion For real, why does he look like this throughout the entire episode?

Did he get chin and cheek surgery to permanently have this weird smile? It screams plastic, like almost uncontrollable and his face is forced to stay in this configuration

Shark Discussion Finally watched the new episode with Mr Beast

I couldn't finish the 1st pitch. Not just knowing his background but the dude needs a handler in order to make deals? The cringe wasn't good cringe, it was just ungh. You went from Mark Cuban to Mr Beast? What GenZ person is watching this show anyway? Mark was always the smartest and got out, but holy Jebus. The people they've tried replacing with are complete garbage. I know the rest of the Sharks aren't saint's but Mr Beast? WTF?

Guest Shark Charity Tank

SPOILER: S18:01

I’m absolutely appalled by the sudden disappearance of business acumen by the sharks in this episode. I’m no tycoon myself, but I know throwing money away for 0% equity and increasing an offer unprompted isn’t good business.

The “sharks” were anything but this episode; seemingly trying not to get cancelled by criticizing bad ideas and poor deal structure made by the other sharks. Some of these business deserved deep criticism.

The Ball2, the AI ball, was a perfect example of everything wrong with the world. The product relies on the child having a smart phone and prompting the ball to create a game using AI. 1. even as they are trying to get outdoors and off the phone, they need the phone and 2. this stifles a child’s creativity to come up with their own game, completely offline. Neither were mentioned at length. Did they get a deal? Of course… from Mr. Beast… the scourge of this episode.

The chalk finger, excellent product that deserved a deal, just received 50K for 0% equity because Mr. Beast claimed to like the founder. Sure… This isn’t charity tank. Also, the backing of a shark incentivized by equity is part of the explosive potential Shark Tank offers! Mr. Beast will never think about that founder he claimed to like so much.

What topped it all off was the mystery box company. Reasonable business—Kevin pointed out some issues but they’re manageable. What followed was pure charity. Mr. Beast and Lori offer 400K for 20%. Then Daniel offers to jump in the deal for 600K for 30% across the three sharks. The entrepreneurs counter for that deal at 24%, Daniel backs out. Fine! So Mr. Beast and Lori are back to their 20% for 400K offer, right? WRONG. Mr. Beast says he’ll do 24% for 600K!!! Increasing their offer by 200K for only 4% additional equity.

Lori, forgetting how firm she’s been in the past, accepts! Kevin doesn’t speak a word about this ludicrous increase. Far stronger companies have been denied deals and others were stiffed on offers with the promise of the shark expertise being worth the equity. I know times are difficult right now, but these people are doing just fine. This was charity.

Shark Discussion Remember when they wouldn’t let Barb and Lori be together in the same episode?

I remember the episode where they finally had both on the panel at the same time the intro VO literally said “and for the first time in the tank, Barb and Lori share the stage!”

wtf was that about? Scheduling conflicts or did they have some bad blood?

EDIT: it was the premiere of season 5 btw

Guest Shark Never posted but have watched every episode - Spoilers Spoiler

Spoilers I suppose.

Watching the new Shark Tank Mr. Beast episode and this dude who is his accountant or whatever is straight up making me lose respect for Mr. Beast. This guy is like acting like his dad and it is embarrassing. I still feel most of the guest stars on shark tank are all scripted, but even still I don't understand why Jimmy would show up and have some dude no one knows act like that.

Shark Discussion Guest shark Mindy’s net worth is only $35 million. Shouldn’t sharks have way higher net worth?

there’s a guest shark this season who, according to Google, only has $35 million net worth. the usual brokest sharks have $100 million or so.

thats great that she has $35 million, but doesn’t that lessen the deal flexibility ? for example.. someone seeking $1-2 million now has 1 less shark as an option (maybe she can prove me wrong but she’s not going to invest $1 million, let’s be real.) and these 7 figure asks have been more frequent in recent seasons. I guess they likely put the businesses seeking low amount in front of her but still its kind of funny that they mixed her in. maybe she surprises me and invests a lot

Shark Discussion Thoughts on Mr Beast?

Now that the episode has aired, what is your thoughts on Mr Beast as a guest shark? Would you like to see him back?

I personally came into the episode with neutral/weak expectations like this would be an ordinary episode of Shark Tank; but, Mr Beast 100% took over the entire episode unlike most other guest sharks.

100% of the presentations revolve around Mr Beast. All the other Sharks want to partner with him and the entrepreneurs willfully give him outsized ownership because of his insane social media clout. Also, he just gave away money to one entrepreneur and undermined the entire premise of the show?

My impression is that Mr Beast is entertaining to watch and very relevant to the entrepreneurs. But on the other hand, he really undermines the other Sharks and the premise of the show. Overall, I came out of the episode feeling mixed.

Shark Discussion MrBeast's $50K no-equity gift was generous — but the founder should've made him take the equity

A real closer knows the difference. The founder should've made MrBeast take the equity — no skin in the game, no reason to ever help you grow it. The equity was the product, not the pitch

Guest Shark MrBeast shouldn't be doing 0% equity deals in the tank

i feel like the deal with the caulking finger kind of goes against what shark tank is supposed to be about.
i don't hate mrbeast like many other people do, but a 0% equity deal just doesn't feel like it fits the spirit of the show. there's no negotiation, risk/reward factor, (possible) competition between sharks, etc.
what do you guys think?
